TomO - Now I am very impressed even more over your homebuilt scrap loads ... most impressive!

The "sleeper" bundles look good too! What type of material is used on the prototype?
I cannot remember but seems to me that they are banded?

JAMES - I cannot imagine 25-30 locos, all with sound, starting at the same time. I am not a great lover of sound-- maybe if I had one I might change my mind? Hmm -- have to think about that!

TROY - I am in your corner, but growing up in the South, I enjoyed boating and fishing. These people out here do not hardly know what a good lake looks like!

Hi again!
I'm too lazy to go out and shovel right-a-way, so I'm having another wake up coffee!

I took these photos in 2020, at our local CN yard. Thought they might prove useful for those trying to model the tie-piles.

The tie pile was fairly consistent height and width wise, compared to others laid along the side of the tracks.

Back to my coffee!

Good Morning All. Another cold one at clear and 24°, wind chill of 19°. Wind this morning is just 3 mph but will pick up from the south at about 10 mph soon and the day will warm up to the mid-50's.

Besides bringing in wood for the heater today, we're making up the postponed Christmas Day celebration at my daughter's home today. SIL and grandson have now tested negative for Covid, never really felt bad to begin with, so we're going too Dallas soon. We'll be with both daughter's families and the three local grandkids. I am hoping to get plenty of model railroading stuff, the grandkids love to give it to me. We're skipping the traditional morning brunch since daughter #1 and her husband have to work this morning from home. While daughter #2 and her husband also work from home, they are cutting out early to have the festivities at their home.

Thanks for all of the comments and likes regarding the revisit of Wicked Wanda's, which is now a rooming house on my layout; Gary, Karl, Patrick, OB Ken, George, Mikey, Guy, Sherrel, Rick, Tom O, Lee, Hughie, Louis, Joe, Greg, Tom, Curt, IB Ken.

No time in the train shed yesterday, since the heaters out there only kept the temperature around 50°. This only happens about a half dozen times a year. I need to look into an industrial type or just live with what I have. I have 50 amp service out to there, so I theoretically could add greater capacity. It's comfortable at 50° with a sweatshirt on, but I do not do layout or modeling work with long sleeves on.
So let me entertain you with a pair of pictures of a simple Bar Mills kit, Miracle Manufacturing. "If it's a good chair, it's a miracle".

Another incredible day of visitors to the Coffee Shop yesterday. Surely it's some kind of record with over 8 pages in two days!
Steve J -
I was feeling it yesterday, but think it is just tired - really tired.
Outside of the parsonage, we call it "hung-over"!;)
Greg -
What did I miss? Thanks.
It seems that Christian decided to leave the forum. Not sure why, but he quoted a comment from Troy (post #5) in his resignation note. Interesting in that when Troy first made the comment, Christian "liked" the post, commented positively in post #6 and then posted four more times before he posted that he wasn't coming back. Troy's comment was by no means disrespectful.
Troy - That work area is just too organized for me. Looks really nice though.
Hughie - Thanks for the comment regarding Wicked Wanda's. I actually had that kit on the shelf for over seven years before starting on it.
George - Yes, those implant ads are amazing. All of mine were on an approximate six month schedule while the implant settled into the jawbones. Also expensive. Eight staggered implants, nine crowns and four additional extractions cost me $45K, with insurance paying just $4500 over the three years that the work took place. Prior to the dental work, I had four broken teeth for several years.

There are several more posts that I intend to comment on, but I have run out of time and I will hopefully get to them tomorrow. Y'all are just too prolific.
Gotta go now as there is plenty to do.
Everybody have a great day and stay safe.

My grandfather who taught me to fish, and which I've abandoned as any kind of a hobby (let the pros do it, I'll sit in the pub and wait on my FishNChips) used to refer to his time sitting by the river as:

"Trying to prove I'm smarter than a fish, or taking a nap. Not sure which it will be."

I can assure you that fishing is more than a hobby for me. I strive to eat organic and not store bought meat but I love the comment it's hilarious 😆

Here's a salmon that got fileted and smoked ......then eaten. 25 lbs of meat after fileted. It weighed 38lbs caught on a 10x fly rod and took me 20 minutes or so to net it.

 Impressive, wish I had those skills, if I may ask what gauge do you use for the rails, and how do you heat them ?
Smudge: The railings are nothing more that 24 or 26 Gauge copper wire I stripped the insulation from. Fortunately, I have the stantions to hang them from when installed.

Fishing is something I haven't done in years...Fishing equipment lost in a flood in '98. It was partially replaced the following year for Christmas, and I even got most of Dad's stuff when they moved from the lake house (interestingly his most expensive equipment was gone). I still have everything sitting unused in the garage as I just haven't had an interest in fishing since. I liked to fish and did a lot of it when I was younger living in Michigan and even through when the wife and I were first married. I just feel like I have no time and I think a lot of that is due to the early time we go to bed and get up (by 8:00p and up at 3:30a)

Or, maybe it was my insensitive remark.....................
I did not see anything one should be offended by,but still if you enter a forum you need sone level of teasing coping sensor, I like teasing and joking and tongue in cheek, but if a person is super sensitive they won’t last long on a forum, because looking for the worst in a post is always possible.
Honestly as a woman who sees other women regularly twist your words, make you feel guilty, take offence in the blink of an eye, if the mood so takes them, you guys are pussy cats. Miaow miaow saucer of milk for the bitchy cat.

Good morning gang

Heading out soon to get my Covid booster shot At Walgreens, then a side trip to HD to look at LED lights for the train room. I want to see what HD has comparable. Looking at the flush mount 5000 k lights that will fit in the drop ceiling.

I need at least a 12 pack and maybe 2-3 more.

Ditto here. We are looking for flurries tomorrow, with measurable snow by Friday. The wood rack in the basement holds about 1/4 of a cord, do I better get it inside, There are 2 cords on a landscaper's type trailer at the top of the basement steps, just gotta move it!

p.s. Gotta feelin Christian will be back.
I suspect he won’t be able to resist

What!! No wellies?🤣

It weighed 38lbs
I caught a 33 pounder back when I was 16 off of the coast of Victoria. As I was baiting my hook, the pod of killer whales that must have been feeding in the same area, started jumping all around the 21 foot aluminum boat I was in……was a little nervous after that for the rest of the day. But something I will never forget……long before IPhones sadly.

Before I forget.....

The Big "E" is coming in 25 days. So if any of ya are going let me know! It would be awesome to meet up in person there.

I may go with a few RR friends. I know their going. Next time I go to his house I'm going to take a few photos of his collection. It's amazing.
George

Good morning from the frozen woodlands of Wisconsin. It is 0f degrees with the wind chill at -9f. Too cold to get out for a quick walk. I think I’d burn more energy put the winter gear on for warmth then the actual walk. The high might get to 21f.

Sleep finally came. 3 hours in the love seat in the living room, then around 1/2 hour wandering the house and in a guest room and other 3 hours. I am not rested as I got 1/2 that amount Saturday night, but it feels better. Today the busted tire goes in for a fix. Not sure how I am going to handle the wait. It is a tire shop in an outlet at a grocery store type setting but unless the weather gets better I won’t walk around the grocery store and big box place waiting for the tire repair.

Justin, sorry to read about your lose. I miss my folks everyday and dad has been gone since 83 and mom 2011 I think. Geez, I have to look that up.

Animal lose. They are still part of the family and the pain of lost companionship is a tough one.

Green Bay vs Minnesota. Not as competitive as a regular meet up. Missing a starting QB usually is pretty tough on a team. Besides even with Cousin’s the Vikings will still always suck!

TomO
I like it a lot, George

Those advertisements about implants in 1 day trouble me. I was prepped for an implant. They took the tooth out then had to pack particle bone down in the jaw where the tooth roots were then let that set for about 6 months. They merely sewed the flesh back over the tooth socket till later. Turns out that dentist was a hustler for business and took advantage of what the patients didn't know about. Also fibbed about insurance coverage. I found another dentist but he's turning out to be another business pumper as well.
