OK, I'm off to the Dumbass Club now, just looked again at the exploded diagram that I posted, and realised the flipping part No. that I'm looking for is on the other identical part that's shown in the diagram, ffs!!!!!
Join the club been there and joined a few times Anyway try Atlas but kind of dought they have any parts for that one
Don't know which one you have SD24 or SD35 but there are a few on that site You can't have mine

Good afternoon all! Still cool here but I think the winds have eased a little. We do have a freeze warning for the overnight period.

Terry - Sorry for your loss. To some they are just dogs, but to those of us that allow them into our hearts they are family.
Smudge - Not only am I a member of the dumbass club, I've run for president on a few occasions.
Dave - Glad to see you back.
Curt - Thank you
Sherrel - Hope I didn't offend anyone. Sometimes I read a line or sentence and strange sometimes deranged twist of the words comes to me.

OK, I know I have stated I dislike doing model windows. But now I adding N Scale stairs to my hate list. Finding a way to hold them, getting glue on just the ends and figuring out why the little beggars jump out of the tweezers. The stair tread is 15/64" So you don't have to do the math, just shy of 1/4". It took right at 4 hours to build the stairs.

Anyone have an Atlas SD24/35 parts list, I've checked hoseeker and got the exploded view of it, but no part number's, I've also checked Atlas's website, found some parts that are missing from mine, but it looks like it's had a big drop and it's broken a rather large part, as the weight sit's on it, I think it would be a good idea to find a replacement.

There is a fleaBay online store , goes by the name of j-tprantle. He is a great source for Atlas parts and has an eBay store. I would try to contact him directly with the part number of the elusive parts.

Good evening y'all. A couple hours ago, it was 61° and now it's 47° with a light rain. We are looking forward to 1 to 3 inches of Snow by mid morning tomorrow. I don't recall weather as goofy as this since about 1971-1972.

We are bingeing "Twilight Zone", a New Year tradition, for us.

I have also made several trips down to the trainroom, where I worked on a DPM structure -"The Other Corner Cafe". Instead of just watching the glue dry, I took apart my Atlas Roco S2 switcher...which is the oldest diesel in my current fleet. It had acted up last summer and has sat inthe box ever since. I removed the cab and body, and placed it on the layout to see what would happen, and it seems to work alright except for the second forward throttle setting. It is very quiet with just the frame, and nothing seems out of place. Think I'll give it a cleaning and lubrication and test it again.

Curt: I will check that site out. Thanks for the tip.

Terry: Sorry for the loss of your little friend. Our four legged friends are important to us.

Sherrel: I'm amazed.

Good evening Shop Dwellers!

The sympathy "clicks" and comments on my Saturday post about the mystery ailment were much appreciated, as always!

I believe I may have finally turned the corner on this thing, whatever it is. Climbed out of bed @ 7:30am and felt "normal" enough to have dairy products without fear of adverse GI reactions. Now as of 8:10pm EST, I still haven't felt any scratchy throat or dizziness, which usually hits during late afternoon. I'm suspecting I had an adverse reaction to those Nyquil capsules I swallowed on Friday night...

No word yet from the folks who did my PCR covid test, so I'll try to contact somebody there tomorrow. I'm hoping they didn't lose my sample, can't think of any other reason I wouldn't be in their system[?]

Didn't get to spend any quality time with the trains today due to the usual family commitments. And with tomorrow's forecast of the first winter storm [4-7 inches] of the season, I went and fueled-up the snow blower and got it ready for the onslaught. Also stuck in 10 orange marker poles along one edge of the driveway to make it easier to follow when it's buried under the drifted snow. I really hope it doesn't change into rain before I can get out there, that will really complicate the snow removal effort..!

Good Night - and have a Pleasant Tomorrow!

Good morning all. 24 degrees on the way up to sunny and 32 on the day. Sitting here drinking my coffee and listening to the neighbors pickup truck rumble. Nice family, but he's one of those guys that has a loud jacked up pickup and he starts it every morning and lets it run for 15-30 minutes before leaving.

First day back to work after the 4-day weekend and I have to say I am not at all looking forward to work. After a few days off I start wishing I could re-retire, but the cost of health care doesn't allow sadly. I have a bad feeling I'll have a lot waiting on me when I get there this morning. The good news is I only have to work 5 days and then I have some vacation time I had to use or lose, so stating Saturday I'm off for 7 days.

I really enjoyed running my trains last night and may do some more this evening if I'm not too tired after work. Seems as though a couple of the locomotives desperately need some lubrication, so I put them aside for the time being. I think I have some LaBelle oil somewhere, but need to figure out where. I didn't get all my stuff out, just enough to make a mess around the room with boxes and other stuff. Doing that makes me want even more to start on a "real" layout. Just don't have the room to make it happen, other than maybe a small switching layout.

That's it from here. Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning as well,
Our new neighbour down the street enjoys driving his tank (I mean truck) up the street a couple times a day as well. It is definitely annoying if you enjoy peace and quiet. He too is a great guy with a couple young kids though so it balances out in a way.

I will pick up and fasten another sheet of foam today as my train related activity.

Hope you all have a great day!

My first post of the new year. I don't recall the last time I posted in here. I know it has been some time. I have never been happier to see a year end than 2021. I lost so much that was dear to me in 2021. Lost two grandparents as well as my dad. Found out on 4 December that my dad had gotten COVID. Flash forward to 15 December and he was gone. Had his funeral the Monday before Christmas. So Christmas was a tough one. The passing of my dad took away the last remaining person of wisdom I had. Now life lessons will have to be learned the hard way without any guidance. In other news. I have started planning my next build. I loaded up on quite a few layout planning books. Primarily focused on bench work and wiring. I'll be receiving my C&O book this week that I pre ordered back in the summer. It's focused more on modelers than anything else. The turn out for it was well below expectations. So I doubt there will be any more books like it coming out in the future. It's sad to see my current layout go. It was fun to operate and still is as long as I'm at track speed and not switching speed. I exhausted trying to fix the track and combat the warps. I haven't built on it in quite some time. So it's time to try a new approach to this. I have to win sometime. At least I hope I can win. I'll definitely stay away from cut 2x4s. They are the primary reasons for the warps anyways. I should be able to salvage the 1x4s and the plywood. As I stapled my roadbed down. Who knows? I may just scrap the whole thing. Well that's all I have for now. Figured I would come out of hiding for a little bit. Hope everyone is doing well.

Unfortunately after spending several hours on fleaBay, I can't find this guy, I thought about making my own, but trying to make a 90 degree angle with plasticard is at the moment, beyond my skill set, so I may have to find someone with a 3D printer and get one made.

Sorry to hear about you loss

Morning all,

A cold 13° this morning in Doo-Dah. Supposed to get to the upper 40's later. Most of the light snow and ice we got Friday night and Saturday was gone by yesterday afternoon. Nice what the sun can do when given a chance.

Ok, as promised, a couple of pictures of me destroying an nice BB SD-9 model:
As starting:

Windows installed:

Railings:

Test look:

Not sure how to finish the railings. They were deliberately made longer than I need so I can bend them to fit. A lot of my time was spent trying to heat and bend the railings that came with the model, which are for an SD-45. That material is brittle. The base and running gear are sitting on the layout. It runs very well, despite having the iron wheel running gear. That's a project for another day. This model was one I picked up in an online auction bundle that turned out the box and misc. small parts didn't match the model. Windows for the cab were made from a plastic cover for a toss away aluminum cake pan from Christmas. The brownies were indeed delicious :D

That's as far as I got before I needed to quit for the day.

I just went to eBay, and typed j-tprantle in the search box, and all his active listings appeared. Pick an item, any item and go to the listing . follow the steps to contact seller.
