Good afternoon all.
On the U.K. Forum I am a member of i was asked what the food is like on a cargo ship.
My reply being, 'Very good, but not the variety as on a cruise ship.'
Today's menu is very, very good. We had to choose our meals early, so the chefs knew what to cook and how much.

Earlier on the voyage I was allowed to look around the kitchen

I'm surprised the chairs aren't bolted down. Are they secured to the tables, instead?

Well, David might have the awesome food, but we have a band of Pub-Crawling Mrs. Roper Re-enactors. A band of women with frizzy permed wigs, sunglasses, and colourful mumus are roaming the passageways from Pub to Pub.

Afternoon all,

Currently 38° and sunny, high later of 48°.
Friday went as predicted, Wife got shrimp at Culver's and I got the Walleye. I had a nice chat with the owner. As the Chamber of Commerce is in the City Hall, I had meet him as they were granted Chamber space for interviews and such and had a 20 minute conversation, letting him know I have driven deliberately to the Culver's in Webb City, Mo. I started chatting with one of the dining room hosts and told him the same thing. I overheard him tell the owner about the trips and the owner asked him "What Table? I know him!" I introduced him to the wife and my son who was with use. He told me he'd finally gotten the land purchased in a closer town to where I live. I said I'd probably be more regular there when they open. He's expecting to open in December.

As far as fish fries, there are a couple on Fridays in the area, but mostly catfish. We just don't have the variety here without bringing it in. When I lived in Michigan, we had a lot more variety of fresh fish. I do miss it. Kind of hard to have fish when you don't have a lot bodies of water.

For those doing the guns, I have one of these:

DSC_0668.jpg

It's an M1867 Werndl-Holub rifle. It is a hand me down heirloom. As near as it was told to me, A group my great-grandfather belonged to bought a bunch from Bannermans in the mid-19 teens to go back overseas and defend Poland. My grandfather was born in 1917 and this gun had never been fired in his lifetime, nor mine to this point. I do know it takes a black powder cartridge. I have located ammo for it, but it's a lot expensive in my book to fire it.

Up early today. Wind and tinnitus are howling. We have a power tower (or Tower of Power?) and power lines way over head, so we know when it is windy. I don't read any EMF from it, so they must be running the 3 lines out of phase.

It was too windy yesterday to start the grill, so I just rolled the chicken up and baked it. It tends to hold moisture when I do that, so it's good. Japanese boneless chicken thighs are both the thigh and the drumstick as one big piece. Took me a while to figure out why they were so big as compared to the US stuff. Their chicken wings are jurassic park as compared to what I get from the commissary.

That’s a cool rifle. I like pieces of history like that.

Good evening all!

back from our volleyball tournament. Overall the girls played great today. They ended up taking second place overall. Several of the
teams were the next age bracket up so to only lose 1 out of 5 was tremendous. The one they lost went to 3 sets, so they went toe to
toe with them.

We ended up stopping at Portillos for dinner. Have not been there in years and the Italian beef and cheese fries were excellent. A little
hard to eat in the car on the ride home but worth it!

Time to retire to the train room and run some trains!

Have a great rest of your night everyone!
