It's 85' deep. Not terribly deep. The last house was 135' but we never have had any flow issues here. My neighbor the plumber said we could tackle it, to which I asked him when was the last time he did a well pump. He's my age and neither one of us is in good enough shape to tackle the job without help, and the two of us together working on it in the cold and the snow would look like two monkeys gangbanging a football, so no, let the the checkbook handle this job.

Decades ago I had a friend that lived on a small farm just outside the city limits. When the house was built in the 30s, it was way outside of town. They never had city water and was connected to a well. It had the awfullest tasting water I ever tasted, and smelled like sulfur. It was terrible. This was a long time before bottled water was common and I never saw but a gallon or so at a time that was distilled water his mom used for ironing clothes.

Speaking of clothes, I don't know how they ever kept that smell out of their clothing or the discoloration the yellow water must have caused in the washing machine. I don't know how they lived all of those years with that quality of water.

I never drank the water when I visited.

They have since moved years ago and the house is now in the city limits and it has city water connected.

I guess it’s all in what you get used to.

My old Doberman used to love well water or bottled water, but he would not drink human municipal water. I found this out after taking him to visit my wife when we were still dating. Her house had city water. No matter how thirsty he was he would not drink city water. However, any bottled water or the well water at the house was just fine by him.
He must have smelled something in that water. And if you can’t trust a dog, who can you trust.

I need your prayers gentlemen.

"Our family is facing every parent’s worst nightmare.
My niece Cecilia, who is 13 years old and has autism, was tragically struck by a car and is now in critical condition. She has already undergone multiple emergency surgeries, including relieving swelling in her brain and repairing a femoral artery, and will need additional surgeries in the days ahead. She was stabilized in Myrtle Beach and airlifted to MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston for specialized care.
This places her far from home and adds a huge financial strain on my sister Katie as she stays by Cecilia’s side.
We’ve created a GoFundMe to help support Katie with medical, travel, and recovery expenses.
Please keep Cecilia in your prayers
And please SHARE this post — even if you can’t donate, sharing helps more than you know
Every bit of love and support means the world to our family."

Louis-I will add her to my prayers as well.

Since I never heard back from Len over the weekend, at Bar Mills, like he said he would, I called. "Oh, it shipped Friday".....thanks for letting me know. What a Charlie Foxtrot that company has become.

I know I'm not the only one this is happening to and the negative reviews will start to build up. It's a simple process....if you say you are going to do something, by a certain time, do it.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

26 inches of snow on the ground here. I couldn't get out to refill the bird feeders because the snow was 8 inches over my 18-inch boots. The fence in the patio photo is 30 inches high. Also shoveled a path and space for the fuel oil guy. He needs space to work. He better have 30 inch boots for those who don't shovel. Swal
