Good afternoon. It's sunny, windy, and 88.

Just out of curiosity, how many here have gotten the "your loan is approved" scam calls or texts over the last couple of months? I've been getting several a day, and finally turned off my phone after I got three calls in 30 minutes. All from different numbers and area codes, but all with the exact same message from the same person about "just need a little more info to finalize the loan". I've let all the calls go to voicemail and blocked and reported, but if anything, I'm getting more calls, not less.
Same here, on a daily basis. I just checked my phone link app, none today, but one a day Monday-Friday.

Listening to the Cardinals first Spring Training game and enjoying it even though they are losing to the Nats. Young team this year, only one player over 30 on the roster right now. LadyC is in the other room watching the Olympics. When I get the "Loan" approved calls I start telling them about the new tattoo it finance and then ask them about what they do if I default because my tattoo artist "Ripper" said he repos them with a Bowie knife. Hope you all enjoy the rest of the day.

1. I signed up for Icogni, it helps reduce the number, but not all go away.
2. I put my phone on "Silence unkown callers" - If you ain't familiy or friend, you can talk to voicemail.

I get 4-10 a day. I’ve had them overlap. One comes in and a few second later another.

I never answer and let them go to voicemail. I don’t cancel the incoming call so to waste their time with ringing.

My phone is also set up to silence unknown callers. If you aren't in my directory and are selected to receive calls from you, it doesn't ring.

I have to delete anywhere from 6 to two dozen calls depending upon how often I check it. I don't even look at the numbers anymore. I just do a batch delete and move on.

Gun Broker said I didn't complete the checkout process and that's why it was deleted. I could not complete the checkout process until today and the seller agreed to that because payment couldn't be made until today. You also can't checkout in Gun Broker if they only accept credit or debit cards on-line if it is not completed in so many hours. So that's why the auction disappeared.

No worries though. I found a beautiful Walther PDP 5" law enforcement model with night sights and three magazines for over $100 less than the Hi-Power. NOS from 2021, but brand new. I have not run across this model in the wild, so it is sort of scarce. And it is marked LE on the box label from Walther.

Looks like bullets not required. Just throw the case at 'em!

Good afternoon all..............

I usually turn my phone off when I go to bed unless I know someone is going to call about something like the drive shaft shop calling around 10 am yesterday.
If a call does not register on my caller list with a name, then I just let it ring until it quits. If they don't leave a message, I block the number. I figure if your call was not important enough to leave me a message, then it was not important at all.......you're blocked.

Got a few projects that need attention today plus some washing to be done.

Maybe some of you cruise ship travelers will be able to see my USPS items in the ships mail room. I know they are not here yet.

I received some insulated rail joiners from Iron Planet Hobbies today. I ordered some Walthers, Atlas and some PECO brand items. I am going to see which ones work best for me. I have been using the PECO, code 100 (their # SL-11) joiners because the Walthers turnouts (and I guess their track) has a wider bottom flange than the other code 83 track I'm using. The PECO code 83 insulated joiners and the Micro Engineering insulated joiners don't even want to slide on the Walthers turnouts. The PECO code 83 and the ME code 83 track are close to identical in their cross sections.

Better get busy it is almost 6 pm here.

Take care....John

It was nice enough yesterday, so I fired up the grill. Had some skirt steak ready to go, fire lit, grate oiled. Placed the steak on, went in the house to throw away the plastic container that the steak was on (a total of about a minute), only to go back and find a raging fire. Quickly flipped the steaks over and put the lid on to quench the fire. Took the temps and it was already at 175F. Still tasted good and I believe skirt steak is good for higher temps with all that silver skin on the backside. I did criss-cross cut the silver skin before seasoning.

I need more practice, so I think I will do the chicken outside today.

Survived the day. Daughter, as mentioned, swam one Finals (B or consolation finals) in an individual event. Most of the swimmers, including her, at least in this event, were slower today than yesterday. She finished last in her final. I think she was second to last seed of 8. She was kind of disappointed to end it that way in her last HS swim meet ever. But she worked hard to make it to State and to get into the Finals.

She also swam on a relay team as the lead off swimmer. Her leg was the same "event" in the relay as her individual and as she was lead-off and doing a competition start dive the time actually counts as an individual time (for her personal times) and she did a second and a half or she better in the relay than in the individual. Their team was in the consolation final seeded 5th. They did pretty well and I am not sure how they ended up as I had to leave before they announced final results -- my son was going with some friends down to S Utah to visit another friend who just got home from Japan and was being picked up at the university by his ride. And he needed some cash so we left and I did not see how the final results were but they were about 2 seconds faster than the prelims yesterday.

In any case, it's over. Actually got under way at 10am and it was a little after 2pm when we left. The relay was the last event of the meet but the A final for girls plus both boy's heats still had to be run, with medal ceremonies in between, etc so it was probably close to 2:30pm by the time it was done. Long day. It's about 50 minute drive so we left and made it home. The daughter had to go home with the team on the bus so she showed up about 10-15 minutes after us and we went out to eat fast casual "Mexican". It was nice to get out to eat.

I've been working on my app this evening. I'm writing it myself, not using AI, but I am using ChatGPT to help me fix occasional bugs or figure out ways of approaching some stuff. In that case I write a small amount based on ChatGPTs suggestions of approach. I don't have any of the fancy coding "AI" tools and am making this app as a way to refresh skills and learn some new skills so using AI to write it wouldn't be that useful to learn from anyway. But in full disclosure I have had ChatGPT help to figure out some compiler errors as well as how to approach certain bits in ways I can learn from.

Well, my attempt to make cachio e pepe turned into cheese balls and spaghetti. Tried a method that I saw on utube yesterday and it looked like a winner. Nope. 4th attempt and will probably be my last. I'll eat it as is as it still tastes good. Maybe if I go in with the idea to make cheese balls and spaghetti, I might fail at that and actually make cachio e pepe...
