I just filled out an on-line form, and they sent me my DD-214. Didn't have to meet with anyone, nor answer additional questions, no online video meeting, etc. But that was about 3 years ago as well.

Good morning folks. 58°F here before possibles storms late this morning and later this afternoon. We are on the very western edge of a Cat 2 area today issued by SPC. I'm not holding my breath for anything severe as we are so far west in this area, but we could get a stong developing storm that will be worst towards Indiana and into Ohio. Y'all stay safe out that way today.

Back to the optometrist today for my glass fitting at 0845. I hope they don't screw this up. I've had two prior fittings that didn't turn out well at all and never wore them.

Going to try to get in the train room today. Have a safe day to you folks east of me!

High fire danger continues in my part of the state today. Currently 48° and clear, High later of 54° before the winds shift and the cold front comes through dropping temps this afternoon. Looks like we'll hit 19° overnight. Of course I'm on vacation next week and the weather guys are all over the map.

How's that Patrick? I had nothing but trouble through the whole process. I used the Government eVetRecs. It was free. Did they send yours's by mail or digital. You filled out what form on what site? Swal

I'm starting a new build. I model in HO but for this build I'm modeling in O scale.

Starting out with the Little Creek Mining Co. by Banta Modelworks. I'll build it per the kit but the setting it's going in will be all custom. Meaning it's going to be a stand alone diorama that will be roughly 20" x 20" and be approx 36" tall. I will build a cabinet that can be viewed from all sides and will have underground tunnels.

I plan on building all the timbers and lighting and also some mirrors so it will look like the tunnels go on for ever. Above ground will have all kinds of details (as much as possible) and underground (my plan is) will have a rail car system to move ore around and hopefully even have a operating hoist system.

That's the plan for now and I've just got started and this will be a slow build (do to other commitments) but should be an enjoyable build and I've never modelled anything in O scale. Always been HO scale for structures and other models have been larger (non model railroad).

Good Morning All. Clear and 56°, maybe 78° later on. Cold weather returns tonight with a drop into the upper-30's and highs only in the upper-50's through Monday.

Headed out this morning for the usual Thursday grocery trek. UPS store, pharmacy and Sam's are on the itinerary. Probably have to send my RH hearing aid into the shop when I visit the hearing center at Sam's. It's been acting up for 3 months now, but I haven't been able to get in to get it looked at.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I mostly ran trains. Switched out a freight transfer facility in Gainesville that I hadn't switched in a few months. No issues noted. Only picked up all of the cars there and at a neighboring industry, did not leave anything. Mainly to test the trackwork in that part of the layout, since I am going to finally install a grade crossing there and finish the road and ballast. Didn't look at the tractor scene that I posted about yesterday, just felt like running trains instead.

Not sure who you are referring to here, but I strongly disagree regarding those that I am aware of the cause of demise.

Reminds me of a situation in the 70's in Texarkana TX. Half of the city is on the Texas side of the border where the drinking age was 18 at the time; but the Texas side was in a dry county and no alcohol was sold. Across the main drag, the Arkansas side had beer stores, but the legal age there was 21. The local police kept a close watch on customers because purchasing anything more than 2 cases of beer or 2 bottles of liquor was considered bootlegging.

Smokey Robinson of the Miracles is 86 today.

In Wisconsin they are supposed to check ID if it’s alcohol or cigarettes they always do. There are constant stings being preformed by the law enforcement brigades that get published. It was that way up North and sure as heck is in the liberal state of Dane County where we live now. Very frustrating in a grocery line when someone is digging for ID when they knew damn well they were going to be asked. Remember our politicians are protecting us from ourselves because they know what’s right or wrong for us!

Weather in Wisconsin is about to change to snowy conditions even though the temperature over the next 48 hours is not going below freezing. Anywhere from a trace to 8” depending what happens above you! What a stupid ass forecast

I’m going out to get a quote on tires. This set has 21,000 + miles in it and at the oil change last week they were checked and rotated and said the time is near. The service tech said they were too soft for the type of driving we do??? So time to get another opinion or 2. Then Home Depot and maybe Menards, looking for pine 1/4” square.
