Bob, That doesn't surprise me at all. The January/February show suffers the slings and arrows of what the weather brings. The best (biggest) show is typically the October show. Having attended or exhibited at the show since the early 90's I've seen show attendance vary like crazy, mostly due to the weather. Extreme cold, heat, rain or snow can affect attendance. The Great Scale Train Show in Timmonium Maryland was, in my opinion, lightly attended this weekend. It was still great with Scale Trains being there and so was Micro Engineering. Vendors weren’t budging on their prices either. I did pick up a bunch of Micro Engineering bridge parts to complete one of my bridges. Also picked up a hot wire foam cutter set. Can’t wait to try it out. I did not buy any cars or engines. Restraining myself from buying $10 cars was something to behold.![]()
So, you built a diorama of a diorama?hello everyone
after a week of vacation iam back at work.
the airport is surprisingly still working
last week i was a bit cross country skiing (still feel every muscle). and only had a little time in the hobby room.
but i did manage to build a small diorama (concept) of my next big diorama.
View attachment 256671
this diorama in the picture is about 12x4.5cm so it is really small
but i did it to maybe find some weak points in my planning. and it was fun to build small things like this. i maybe should do this more often.
also last week, i got my FOS Scale Kit! now the real planning starts.
wish you all a great start for the week.
cheers
Marco
Hmmmm, have been using Linux on Xeon's for years and they are darn quick. My go to is Fedora, have been using that since the late 90's: Redhat, then the spin to Fedora Core, then Fedora. When I get around to installing new, I never use the latest and greatest; always a version or 2 back. Too much hoop jumping with updates, couple back are usually more stable.I've found out most (nearly all) versions of Linux don't support Xeon processors and the dual AMD graphics processors this computer has. I'm going a different route, rather than contributing to my drinking problem by attempting to make something work that isn't supported.
So far, I've tried Zorin, Ubuntu, and Mint. Exactly zero of them will have anything to do with the paired graphics cards. Mint does seem to work okay, as far as the processor. I can't even get the computer to recognize it even has dedicated graphics.Hmmmm, have been using Linux on Xeon's for years and they are darn quick. All my Linux boxes are dual 3.2G Xeon's with plenty of memory. Check the memory on the box you are having problems with. What speed is it? Are you sure you downloaded and installed x86_64? Linux does have issues with *some* vid cards though; Nvidia being the worst. AMD card probably needs it's bios updated - try installing 'firmware-linux' or the like.
Have fun!

This is one of the “trash can” Mac Pro, right? So far, I've tried Zorin, Ubuntu, and Mint. Exactly zero of them will have anything to do with the paired graphics cards. Mint does seem to work okay, as far as the processor. I can't even get the computer to recognize it even has dedicated graphics.
