Good morning all!

We have finally climbed out of the deep freeze! Currently 25F heading up to a high of 27 under mostly cloudy skies. This is the warmest we
have been in 10 or so days. According to the forecast warming trend for the next week should continue.

Usual Monday stuff to accomplish around the house today.

Basketball game is away tonight so dinner will be out somewhere.

Have a safe day everyone!

Arrived at work, to the surprise of no one here, all the rv’s that are staged for delivery today and tomorrow are popsicles, with frozen pipes. We’ll know how many have broken plumbing whenever they thaw.
I will resist the temptation to say “I told you so!”

Good morning from my place. NO snow or rain predicted for the next 10 days was posted Friday. Mother Nature decided that 1/2” to 1” of white stuff would clean up the dreary frozen landscape. City ordinances state the sidewalks, edge to edge must be cleared to the pavement by noon of the day after the snow falls. It started at 11pm Sunday night so after taking the garbage and recycling bins to the curb I grabbed the shovel. Not enough for the snow blower and there was a crust. I’m on a corner lot so did the sidewalks and the extension to the curb.

It was actually very nice out. 21f degrees felt like 13. I would have qualified for a walk through Walmart today. Flannel jacket, ( just going to the curb), pajama pants and a t-shirt. But the sidewalk is done, part of the driveway and the 3 platform steps to the front door, plus ice melt!

Not sure how the day will unfold

Enjoy your day

Morning all,

Spent the last hour playing catch up on all the things I "missed" on Friday. Nothing like having 45 things in your email that need your attention, but really don't.

Currently 26° going for a high of 49° later. Supposed to have clouds moving in later as well.

Got to 39° yesterday and hopefully get more melting done today.

And Happy Pork Sausage day.

hello everyone

after a week of vacation iam back at work.
the airport is surprisingly still working :D

last week i was a bit cross country skiing (still feel every muscle). and only had a little time in the hobby room.
but i did manage to build a small diorama (concept) of my next big diorama.

Screenshot 2026-02-02 125335.png

this diorama in the picture is about 12x4.5cm so it is really small :D
but i did it to maybe find some weak points in my planning. and it was fun to build small things like this. i maybe should do this more often.

also last week, i got my FOS Scale Kit! now the real planning starts.

wish you all a great start for the week.

cheers
Marco

The Great Scale Train Show in Timmonium Maryland was, in my opinion, lightly attended this weekend. It was still great with Scale Trains being there and so was Micro Engineering. Vendors weren’t budging on their prices either. I did pick up a bunch of Micro Engineering bridge parts to complete one of my bridges. Also picked up a hot wire foam cutter set. Can’t wait to try it out. I did not buy any cars or engines. Restraining myself from buying $10 cars was something to behold. 😆

I’ll be posting more on the bridge build and foam cutter later.

Good morning gang!

15° under sunny skies, might make it to 30° today. Wahoo ! Heat wave!

Bob, That doesn't surprise me at all. The January/February show suffers the slings and arrows of what the weather brings. The best (biggest) show is typically the October show. Having attended or exhibited at the show since the early 90's I've seen show attendance vary like crazy, mostly due to the weather. Extreme cold, heat, rain or snow can affect attendance.

So, you built a diorama of a diorama?

I've found out most (nearly all) versions of Linux don't support Xeon processors and the dual AMD graphics processors this computer has. I'm going a different route, rather than contributing to my drinking problem by attempting to make something work that isn't supported.
Hmmmm, have been using Linux on Xeon's for years and they are darn quick. My go to is Fedora, have been using that since the late 90's: Redhat, then the spin to Fedora Core, then Fedora. When I get around to installing new, I never use the latest and greatest; always a version or 2 back. Too much hoop jumping with updates, couple back are usually more stable.

All my Linux boxes are dual 3.2G Xeon's with plenty of memory. Check the memory on the box you are having problems with. What speed is it? Are you sure you downloaded and installed x86_64? Linux does have issues with *some* vid cards though; Nvidia being the worst. AMD card probably needs it's bios updated - try installing 'firmware-linux' or the like.

Have fun!

So far, I've tried Zorin, Ubuntu, and Mint. Exactly zero of them will have anything to do with the paired graphics cards. Mint does seem to work okay, as far as the processor. I can't even get the computer to recognize it even has dedicated graphics.
