Good Morning All. Happy Valentine's Day. Cloudy and 32° here on the estate. Should warm up to 50° later on. Looking at 63° tomorrow. The forecast for next week has deteriorated with an ice storm now predicted for Tuesday and single-digit lows overnight Wednesday. A three day really cold spell for us. Not as bad as the "Deep Freeze" event of 2021.
Yesterday's weekly grocery trek went as planned, no grocery issues. The trip to Sam's Club to the hearing aid person went OK, although I had to wait about 15 minutes since I didn't have an appointment. New specialist to get used to. Got the speakers and earbuds replaced. Slightly bigger earbuds to reduce the frequency of unwanted feedback that I sometimes experienced. Gas about town has risen in price about 15¢/gal, to between $2.79 and $2.84.
Not sure what is planned for today yet. I know that a pot of Chili is on the menu for tonight. Texas Chili, no beans and no Pasta! Just meat, tomatoes and spices. Served with chopped Green Onion and grated Cheddar Cheese.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I once again ran trains. Had some uncoupling issues with a few cars that I took over to the workbench and fixed. These are freight cars that I don't run often, they have been sitting on a storage track for at least two years. Exchanged the red Kadee washers on the trucks of a couple of Blue Box cars for gray ones to lower the coupler height just a little. It didn't used to matter, but I now have some undulations in the plywood layout base from the rain after after the tornado that took off the roof. I'm thinking of ways to correct the worst spots without a complete rebuild of those two sections. It actually looks a bit prototypical to watch a train fall and rise along the track.
Meanwhile, I rescued the camera and downloaded the pictures of the completed P2K 4427 covered hopper kit.

Maiden voyage sometime today in a unit grain train.

Doesn't sound any safer than Louis's game!

I do not know. They haven't gotten into 1st generation stuff very much. I get their newsletter weekly and that's the only way I have of knowing what they're getting ready to produce. They don't leak advance plans; they don't announce until all of their tooling is ready. Then they take pre-orders. The ones that I pre-ordered are scheduled to be ready in September. The nice thing about their business model is that you don't pay until the models are in their warehouse in Tennessee. Downside is that if you don't pre-order, there is very little warehouse stock left over.
David - Hope that you get your condition under control very soon.
Y'all have a fabulous Friday.
