Good evening. It's 67 and clear.
And the hits keep coming...
I received a letter in the mail today, (02/22/2024) from my insurance company for the RV. It is dated 02/01/2024, and is notifying me my insurance will be canceled as of 02/29/2024. No word as to why, only "we apologize for any inconvenience".

Worse last minute insurance is always more than one month before it finishes, pigs. Get on it asap - sure you will!

It was a gorgeous day out today, so I decided to take the dog on a walk downtown and see the almost completed railroad mural. Its close too 200' long and 50' tall built on and painted on sheets of aluminum. It has been under construction for a while but are now finishing the walkway. This is a replica of what the station here in town looked like before demolition. The bank donated part of its parking lot, and the local HVAC company donated the south side of their building. Pretty cool to see in person.

Anyways, I thought you all would enjoy some photos.

Yesterday I told you about a magician Jeff Mcbride I was in a magic club with back in the late 70's.
He was great at appearing cards from thin air. A lot of cards. Being in a club with him I knew how it was done.
He's got even better over the years. See if you can catch him. Cards coming for everywhere.
I may be able to do some of what he's doing.
It's been a long time since I tried this type of card magic. Maybe I'll practice up some.
Swal.

Good evening all. Just made it back home. Short day today, so made some errands and stopped by an antique shop in Columbia. Found this odd looking B&O hopper:

Baltimore and Ohio fans would be stunned as it's sitting on these XIX century trucks. Well it just joined my collection and the only thing i'll do to it, will be installation of Kadee couplers. Otherwise i like it😃.

Full working suspension on these Central Valley made trucks.

CB&Q Northern😍

Well, howdy there internet peeps...Debating on having some Smirnov tonight. Except I hear he's on Ice. 🤪

I did some hobby today. The game company I demo for has a new game coming out in April. World War 2 tank on tank skirmish combat.

So, I'm getting the tank factory fired back up. This is an Italeri kit, 1:56 scale

Even good German engineering needs some rubber banding from time to time.

And it got to the paint shop. Dunkelgelb applied. Tomorrow I'll hit it with a thinned down darkish desert sand to give it a dustier tan look, then add green and brown soft edged camo stripes.

While I appreciate the German tank designs, I detest some of the camo schemes/colors they used. Dunkelgelb is one of those colors.

That looks more green than yellow.

Mike - I hope that beautiful mural don't get hit by the graffiti people. They seem to paint up and destroy everything else railroad related.
That's just the way the world is turning.
Guy- I too worry someone will try to de-face it. If it did happen, I believe there would be a very angry community. Many local businesses' and community members have come together to make this a reality.

That's why I don't care for it. It makes sense, tho, for a a camo colour in Europe.

I'm going more for this style of camo and shading:

For the curious ones, that 4-8-4 was a Baldwin built product:

This is from Flicker, author unknown, but it was most likely a photographer at Baldwin Locomotive Works. The locomotive is an O5, brand new and is posed at the Baldwin factory before being sent off to its new owner. CB&Q liked them so much, they built their own copies later on and classified them as O5a. They are some of the most iconic American steam locomotives. One of the later O5a was fully painted in gold for some anniversary back in early 60s, and it looked like a giant brass model rolling down the tracks.

That's big of them, isn't it. Just what you need, another urgent task, arranging for a replacement.
