Boy....I have not popped in here in a while but hey here I am for a moment. Hope everyone is doing well and those who are not, I bid you well and good things come your way soon.

I am preparing to leave in the next 48 hours to go to UK. I will be going to London then on to Edinburgh, Scotland for a few days then back to London to Bristol to see a few sites, castles, and the likes along the way. Stop at Stonehenge and a couple dives. I will be seeing the Johnnie Walker Distillery and the Deadman's Fingers Distillery. I may hit another distillery too. Then off to Wales for a country side train ride etc. I may try to hit a hobby shop some where or not. I would like to find a good bait & tackle store for Rapala lures as I am an avid user of their products. I was hoping to make a trip to Finland on this trip but I will go next time for Ireland and Finland in the fall. Next year will be Italy! I will check back in after my trip.

When I get back I will be preparing my SPRING start of fishing season and my boat will come out on the last week of March or maybe earlier.

Ya'll have a good one!
Be careful where you go out at night, the cities get less and less safe. If with a female avoid easily stolen handbags, wear it under a loose jacket rather than off shoulder, and if on the underground watch bumpers, and thieves, my other half lost a gold necklace, several people I know believe they have been relieved of stuff in packed underground (avoid coming out of work busy times, safer when not so busy) Houses of Parliament, Towerbridge, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Cannot think of any shopping although Harrods, used to be a lovely cake shop opposite. is often of interest to foreign visitors.

If you do Wales visit at least one castle.

I would check out Stamford if not too difficult it or some other older towns are still reasonable, and have olde English buildings helping lift them form the decimated shopping areas. google and see if it appeals.
Do try fish and chips.and if adventurous mushy peas, go gentle with the vinegar if you have not tried it before lol. Try some on the edge first.
And pub prices may make you faint but choose an old inn for atmosphere, avoid the ones in towns and cities, ones in villages that have survived Covid tend to be much better options.

Check the weather, there is a lot of flooding in places.

Hope you have a great time.

I thought the earlier comment that a sliding blade over the peaks making a hit to the sternum and breathlessness or worse an injury significant worry and if too big imagine falling off a horse face first you would take a thump to the sternum there also,
If just for show then fine, but otherwise I think a multiple plate with a thick undergarment seems better, light bike kit seems better, with plastic plates for shoulder and elbows and elbows seems better, but not necessarily good for cosplay

We have a Scottish sword but I do not think a kilt would offer much protection
my son in my girls blouse, my designer velvet waistcoat, scarf and beads, silk scarf, my belt, and silk scarf on his waist, the earrings defo not mine plastic, looked good BUT he had to suffice with the plastic pistol and a plastic cutlass for the school fancy dress, he did win 🥇 but I do not think school would have appreciated the metal one.
The "Boob Plate" that everyone complains about isn't a standard breast plate, or even the idea of wearing protection. But it's the "headlight cans" or molded and form fitted to show off a girl's endowments, whether they fit in the cans or not.

You know, hollywood and video game armour for girls.

Jill B in that video I posted breaks down how very impractical it is. A standard breastplate is better, if the girls can fit in. If need be, expand it a bit, but don't make it look sexy. As Jill pointed out in the video.... showing one's feminine form in a battle where swinging large, heavy weapons is how to win... lets the opponents know there is a person likely with lower strength in their upper body. Plus, the medieval times weren't always the nicest to women for other things... (We'll leave it as that).

Hospital visit this morning to have the "port" installed?
I have really felt lousy for several days over the Chemo.

ION - I am back to using my old HP laptop. The MacPro decided tonot open up yesterday morning (the screen is mostly blank/black) ... It was fine when I closed the lid the prior night.
In lew of medical goings on, - I am reluctant to even think about a "new" one or $6=700 on a screen replace?
BUT - the HP is sooo-- slooow!

Sherrel: Open the MacBook. Press and hold the power button to force a restart. You'll know when you hear the chimes/bongs of the restart. IF your don't see the apple in the screen after a moment, then the screen is probably hosed.

There is also an app called Disk Utility to run IF the screen does come back. That just checks the registry files to make sure 1s and Naughts are where they should be in the basic operating instructions.

Good morning all. A mocha coffee please, Flo and a slice of lemon cake. I'll sit by the window.

Not a lot going on at present, but could change in an instant.

Ordered two freight wagons from a Preservation Society I support. Should arrive next week. As for three carriages I pre-ordered some time back from another company, I have not heard of a firm delivery date. May time was a possibility, but as yet not confirmed.

Back later

Good evening, it's 55 and clear.
I survived my first day of w*rk. I'm pretty concerned about the half dozen apps I was required to download to my phone, and give keys to the kingdom to. Among other things, it tells anybody that has access to its parent to see exactly where I am, and what I'm doing, whether walking, staying in one place, what other apps I may be using and when, any websites visited by all browsers on my phone "at any time", read my messages and email, and access the camera and microphone. All this is a requirement of my continued employment there. You'd think I had the keys to Fort Knox in my pocket, rather than fixing RVs.
I asked "what happens if somebody doesn't have a cell phone?"
Answer: They can't work here.
That's BS. Get another second hand fone and load all their stuff onto that, when your not at work or on call, leave it at work, they do not have to know what your doing or where you are outside of working hours.

One of those aircraft look suspiciously like a Vulcan Bomber.

Nothing suspicious about it. It is a Vulcan - XL319. It does not fly though.

The second B.2 delivered to 617 Squadron based at RAF Scampton, on 20 October 1961. Delivered from RAF Waddington to Sunderland Airport (the former RAF Usworth) on 21 January 1983, the largest aircraft ever to land on the site, performing a small display. Displayed outside as part of the adjacent museum's collection. After the airport was closed on 31 May 1984 (the runway being built over for the Nissan car factory), it was moved with the rest of the museum's collection to an adjacent site, still displayed in the open air, with cockpit tours on certain days.

well howdy there internet peeps and those not on the hook for $500mil

It's Troy again

And it's new printer day. Not what I had planned.

I love my little epson EcoTank printer. But I jacked it up last night. Put too much paper in the feed hopper, made a paper jam, and did something to it...

And Epson has figured out how to make the printers next to impossible to self repair. I spent a couple of hours watching cleaning the printer roller vids, and following recommendations. No luck. finally figured out there was a wonky error code that didn't match the paper jam/foreign materials main message it was giving me. And that tracks back to either a broken belt or roller, or a fried motherboard. Belts all appear good. My guess is a gremlin in the motherboard, or a belt/gear that I can't get to without a full teardown.

Le sigh...

There comes a time when I weigh the $$ to purchase new (Hey, they're on sale at office depot this week!) or pack it up, with the tanks full of ink (oops, can't do that. Dump the tank contents down the trash and kiss the $80 in ink goodbye), then send it off to the repair center, and spend 50-75% of a new purchase to repair the old...

I was doing a big print run yesterday. Got a new gaming book in pdf form. I'm supposed to run demos of it around product launch, so I need a hard copy to have on the game table and show folks... So, 100 pages of nice color pages with pics of model WWII tanks...

Le sigh...

I'll head over to Office Depot once I finish coffee and shower. In other news, looks like the WW2 Tank game will be fun.

Sis in Law goes in for her gall bladder surgery tomorrow. So I have to take the wife over at the crack of dawn or earlier. She'll sit with her sis before and after surgery, and then stay after they get her back home. I'm surprised this will be an outpatient surgery??? But they say it is...

And, in case you're wondering who hangs out in the coffee shop after hours...

No Joy, Troy! It has "about" a sixteenth" inch of color atthe top?
Thanks for the tip!
While the laptop is on, try slowly moving the screen open and closed, and watch for any changes.
I suspect you have the "screen ribbon problem" and to fix it would require a new screen. There is a quiet recall for some of these, you could ask the geeks to look into it for you.

Good morning from Wisconsin. The WeatherChannel app says it’s clear skies outside. The sun has risen and it is most definitely not clear outside. But the temperature is 37 and feels like 37. High guess for the day is 59. We did get to 61f degrees on Wednesday even though the guess yesterday was again 59. Tomorrow though the high might be 35 but dry…

It’s Thursday and it’s our breakfast/brunch day out in the wild. Research will begin after I’m done typing as to where we are heading. Anything within 50 miles is fine as it gets us out of the house and the further we go the more exploring we can do afterwards.

I just got a news scroll across the screen that AT&T’s nationwide Cell service is down. Anyone here using AT&T? I weigh in on an electronic scale every morning. It then reports the results via AT&T cell to my IPadPro where the app for my diabetes management is. Now I know why it didn’t report in this morning to the app, it’s down! Our cell phones all use T-Mobile so we are fine with the phones, but not the scale…

Today is one of my no weathering days, so I actually did more yesterday to try to finish one of my own boxcars. I usually take 3-4 days to weather a car. That’s because I like to work in batches of 5-10 cars and spread the process out. Yesterday, just the one car and using Arcylics the dry times between applications is relatively quick. When needed the hair dryer helps move things along. Pictures are at the Weathering rolling stock, a continuous thread…

So instead of weathering today I will be working on what was the test track in the shop. it’s been expanded using modules of my old layout. Now it will be known as the 2nd paper mill on the layout’s branch line! The connection to the main layout will be built Saturday. Since my meds, wife and doctor say I can’t handle power tools, the daughter and her friend will do it. Except for my DeWalt drill and a couple battery screw drivers all my other power tools, planer, the sander, drill press, chop saw, and the table saw are all at the daughter’s studio. They have Saturday morning available so that’s the time!

The track in the shop runs but I need more feeders. I also need to be able to switch power from DCC to DC. So, today for 73’ of track (yes, I measured) I will be punching the holes for new feeders through the cork roadbed and 2” of pink foam. The few I currently have will be unsoldered, the track where it will be soldered cleaned. I will tie the feeders into the power bus by soldering, no more IDC connectors! The end wire to be soldered to the track will be left for a friend this afternoon who will bring his resistance soldering rig.

enjoy yor day

When I had my gall bladder surgery it was done as emergency surgery. I was in between getting discharged the morning after, (the surgery was done around 7pm), but had a high fever so spent that day and night.

At work it turned out we had quite a few gall bladder surgeries. Most were discharged the same day as outpatient. Only a few were kept overnight like me, because of fevers. There were a few though who spent 3-7 days because the surgeon had to actually cut open the patient to remove the gall bladder. They were in the most danger of post surgery complications. Mine was done via tube and sucked out. (No I will not watch even today the YouTube videos of that)

my best to your sister in law

Good Morning All. Clear and a pleasant 59°, going up to the upper 70's again today. Still going to be a bit windy for the third day in a row, tonight though it turns from south to north and it will be a bit chillier tomorrow, 71°. I won't complain. Tonight's low at 43°. I'll need the blue jeans tomorrow morning. It does appear though, that we are having an early Spring this year.

Getting the list ready for the weekly grocery trek today, to see how much costs have gone up since last week. Stopping by Home Depot for more potting soil and the seemingly weekly stop at the pharmacy. I'm going alone as my wife has a hair appointment in a different city at the same time. I need to dig out my only suit this morning and try it on, for my nieces wedding Saturday. Should fit as I wore it last back in February 2022! This will be my first "same sex" wedding that I attend. It will also be the first one in our family that won't be in the Catholic church. While I have no problem with it, my Dad would have had an absolute fit!

Out in the garden, I did get the remaining Lettuce plants planted as well as a partial row of seeds. Indoors, I planted a flat of the Tomato seeds. Packet of 30 had 32 in it, down from last years packet which had 35. Shrinkflation! Spent some time hoeing the Onion rows, completing what I started earlier in the week. At present, it doesn't appear that I lost a single Onion plant to last week's 24° overnight low.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I did complete the cemetery fence, it was a bit of a pain, but it is done. Part of the issue all along, is that the whole project area is at the back of a 30" wide lower level and I have to lean over and duck under the upper level. Something that I didn't think of when construction began 12 years ago. At the time my main goal was getting track down and running trains, knowing that I would come back for scenery later. But I was also 12 years younger and more limber back then. I didn't take pictures yet as I want to plant some headstones first.
No more dogs for now, but cows are plentiful on my layout as well.

Guy - The stucco walls seem to be coming along nicely.
Joe - I have never tried to outguess the big boys in the stock market. However I have done well since dropping the financial advisor and self-managing my retirement accounts.
James - Safe travel wishes for your journey.

Coincidentally, today is National Chili Day, keeping up our discussions from earlier this week.
Everyone have a great day.

Good Morning!

We here will probably achieve 50F under the sun, today. Yesterday I noticed the neighbour sitting in a backyard lawn-chair with short sleaves. Today, it will be short pants. She likes reading in the backyard sunshine.

I've glued the walls of my depot together, and added bracing as necessary:
3rdClass_02-21-2024 (1).JPG

It looked undersized to me.
I placed it on the layout position, to see if it would be acceptable, more-or-less.
3rdClass_02-21-2024 (2).JPG

I'm sure it will be fine.

At this point, I believe it was a mistake to stucco the walls before the roof and front awning stachions were allowed for. It's going to be harder to work now. This was a debate I had with myself before I started.

Mara - If you are thinking about scribing 1/87 bricks onto foamboard, you might have a tough time. You might well go blind trying to scribe in those tiny bricks.
Jaz - Looking at the pirate photo of you're son, I thought I was looking at my older brother in his youth. Incredible similarity.
Troy - Can't say I really care for the AI. I think I would shoot it, if it came into my backyard.
Willie - I don't even want to think about same-sex marriage. There's enough garbage polluting my head already. - I like the free-range cattle on your layout. We have lots of free-range livestock here in Alberta; and wild horses, as well.
Sherrel - It saddens me to know you are suffering through chemo. Praying you make it through like your flying high. Good luck!!

Well, I need to get busy at something. Have a wonderful day!!

McLeod, I've done the horizontal cuts. I'm still here. Problem is the walls are made in a special way. 1 row is bricks in the normal position. On top 1 row with the short back side of the bricks visible. That makes a lot of pieces in total. So instead of going nuts I probably go bricks.
I will finish the test piece tomorrow, the light is not good enough now. 16.30 hour PM here and grey cloudy.
