A scone looks exactly like your ‘biscuit, and is like a dense sponge cake but better, in the uk scones are often eaten sweet with cream and strawberries, a tea time favourite. with dried currants or sultanas also and even glazed cherries. as someone who cooks I suspect the recipe for scones and ‘biscuits’ (excuse the ‘x’ but I think of biscuits as flat and crisp like American cookies.
Your ‘chips’ are our crisp
Our ’chips’ are your thick French fries
There are many twists patties another

US ‘biscuits’
UK ‘scones’ sweet, strawberry and cream a personal favourite (real strawberries not jam
even the cheese version is considered more cake than a n other.

You'd like the "Dull men's Club" on facebook. (despite its name its full of women as well). There are endless discussions and arguments about scones and buscuits. In fact most of it seems to be UK people who are insecure and try and make fun of Americans (that is my interpretation -- the participants would beg to differ).

Good afternoon from a very happy household. The grandson and his mom stopped over after school. He’s very excited. He was invited last night to join a AAA youth hockey team for his age level,10. Of the 70 players in his age group in Verona only he and his best bud were asked. They will be joining 13 other regional players to form this years Spring/Summer/early Fall team.

I knew the group in charge of the team had asked his mom a few weeks ago if they’d think about it and literally asked if it would be a $$$ burden for the family. They were still evaluating players then. This team is supposed to be the best of the age group but I think it also has something to do with finances. His talent and his buddy’s though IMO definitely fits the bill. This team has tournaments in Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, the Chicago area and Minnesota. Practices are 3 nights a week in 3 different area rinks. Luckily for him, his mom and dad both can work from anywhere and his grandparents can watch his sister when they travel.

This is quite the operation. The team along with the 12 year age level team will travel together to tournaments in the organizations‘ motor coach along with the coaches and trainers. Parents need to find their own way to games. He is aware this pretty much eliminates soccer this Summer

He’s happy and really, that’s all that matters

SO MANY PRIOR POSTS THAT I GIVE UP REPLYING THIS MORNING - BESIDES, I doubt anyone really wants to hear my trials.
First day of Chemo was a blast (not) - needless to say that I had almost forgotten that my body has that many holes to "LEAK" from ... They were all used and changed within the last 18 hours... pants, underware, pajamas, and sheets. There, Did I gross you out? -- DID ME!

Spent my last C Note and sent the DIL to obtain some flowers for my bride yesterday afternoon - cannot believe how much everything is anymore! I cannot complain over her. The spousal Unit has been a godsend on keeping up with my appoints, making sure that she understands what the hell is going on, and hauling my $$s all over.
NOW, that I have ruined everyone's day, I will return you to your regular programming!

TERRY - Good vibes for your next venture.

GUY - That's a winner - Make her work for those flowers!
Rule #1 for Chemo patients: Never trust a fart! Yep, it's pretty disgusting. Been there, done that! Then there's the thing where your food doesn't taste right, and even ketchup tastes too spicy or downright burns like hot salsa! I had to change toothpaste until I could find one that wasn't totally overloaded with mint. It's a real blast! Hang in there though. For me, it did work. Lost like 50 pounds because nothing would stay down. It's a war. Fight well!

I will joke with Americans, but hopefully do not think I make fun of, and if I joined a place where that a specific thing I would leave.
People evolve, people left European countries to go to a better life in the USA many were sent as indentured servants with little chance of escaping poverty often sent for as little as thieving a piece of bread when starving, and that was enough excuse to literally turn them into indentured slaves, not something I am proud to have as my history, but we seriously cannot know whose relatives were the sufferers or the inflict or sin most cases so I do not judge, to my mind the US has been a bastion of good helping present Europeans (often thanklessy :( )
I refer to the scones versus biscuits purely because many of those Europeans took their heritages and mixed them with others and terminology has moved on, to be honest it has moved on here too, but the roots have commonality, I am not calling yours or ours better or copies they have evolved as our peoples evolved, here in the Uk people from different areas vie with each other often in less than polite manner, I have Welsh, Irish English forebears my pre marriage surname infers a long gone Scottish link, I often question people about their ancestry their beliefs their opinions and do not expect them to align with mine, I personally like variety as long as it is a leave others in peace to their beliefs, I have no wish nor right to impose my preferences on others, and am open to learning new, that said I am a pretty traditional Christian raised person who if possible would do others no harm and if it does not put me out beyond reasonable will also help others. not perfect, do not expect perfection, but am happy to find it….a nice cream scone and fresh strawberries gives me a few minutes of near perfection….locks lips.
A wicked sense of humour, a some what twisted sense of fun, no harm intended, a sense of knowing when to run and avoid strangulation a healthy skill :p
English derives from Latin, French and German has lashings of Viking, Americans still surprising call their Language English rather than distancing themselves, your country has tonnes of amazing accents, we are the same and different, and just as in the UK different areas call the same thing different names across the pond you do the same, fact of life, FYI we play with you because we can….especially here on the internet my side of the pond I do not need to run fast to avoid a slap…..grins, slaps your back affectionately and runs (metamorpicaly of course) like hell…….wheeeeeeeeeeeeee……

ooh, I have America relatives too, half Italian New Yorkers, although one or two have gone south, and one has come back here with her mum when she divorced her GI (‘she cheated not him) He and my dad were thick as thieves. You might be related!

And if possible avoid sugar, I know many can argue the semantics but it does feed cancer, and giving it up is likely to help, although sugar addiction is often painful when you do address it. I am guessing - as someone who eats almost no sugar and little carbs - that it is preferable to going thru chemo. some sugar addicts may disagree.

Tom-Congratulations to your grandson! Sounds like a great opportunity to gain valuable experience.

Yes. this, High vegetable, low sugar and starch foods.

Vitamin C and Grape Seed and Grape skin/pulp and Pycogenol / French Maritime Pine Bark extract. (all of them, slowly intrduced over time). These do not fight the cancer but help your body deal with the effects of chemo. Chemo can be quite "corrosive" to your body with free radicals and this helps in that regard. Always ask the doctor if any of these interfere with the chemo drugs with known interactions. Don't ask if they will help as doctors are not nutritionists and they'll say no, because they don't know and its a safe answer. But you don't want to take anything that can interfere with the drugs so ask them about interactions. As Tom said, listen to the wife and doctor.

Well Jaz, my second grade grammar teacher Sister Agatha, would have had a heart attack reading that post. 2-100 word sentences with a 206 word sentence in between.:confused::confused: ;);) However I did understand it! lol

OK, I feel like I am wearing Terry's shoes this evening. We received two letters today from Prudential Retirement, where I have a few IRA accounts parked. It starts out with:
"This letter is regarding the above-referenced account holder. We are sorry to learn of the death of your loved one and would like to extend our condolences"
It is specifically asking my wife to fill out some paperwork so that she can transfer the funds belong to the decedent, namely me, to a Beneficiary IRA account.

So if I don't post tomorrow, you know what happened.

That had to be kind of startling to read at first!

That could very easily turn into a sh*tshow. Good luck getting it straightened out before it gathers momentum.

You can do this, we are all pulling for you. We love you buddy!

You can't gross me out and you are not alone. I'm living with pancreatitis, shit happens!

Be glad you can.

Well, howdy there internet peoples, and those who get to do a Bob Hope today.

It's Troy again...

In medical news, Sis in law has lost a kidney. She's looking at a removal surgery. There is also need to remove her gall bladder. Waiting to see when that gets scheduled. My wife will have recovery assistance duties after the surgery.

As for my mother, following the dr apt on Tuesday I took her to, yesterday (Wed) she started showing signs of a UTI. And her labs are showing some renal function reduction (kidneys). So the water pill doses that just got upped, have been lowered to in-between where they were, and where she wants them. Not a great situation.

Fortunately, wife and I are in good health. I need to drop about 30 pounds, and have a goal to do that soon. Slowly trying to get off the sugar. Unfortunately, too many of our dishes have pasta or other carbs....

OK, back to the computer....

You all did me good with your kind words of encouragement --- survived the second day with no mishaps (came close - once)
It was touch and go for a minute ... the RN could not fine a BV that would hold the drip - she said that she would not try more that twice, so she went for help and the third time was the charm.
I hope that tomorrow will be smooth sailing?
Friday is an MRI of my brain (waht is left) and a meet & greet with the surgeon who will install a port on Monday. Then I have a week off and start the second round.

They have not mentioned finding the source - even referring to calling it a Neuroendocrine (short version NET) which appears to be a pretty rare bird? Results of the Biopsy still not in?

(neuroendocrine+cancer&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS983US987&oq=neuroendo&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqCggCEAAYsQMYgAQyDQgAEAAYgwEYsQMYgAQyDQgBEAAYgwEYsQMYgAQyCggCEAAYsQMYgAQyBggDEEUYOTIKCAQQABixAxiABDIKCAUQABixAxiABDIHCAYQABiABDIHCAcQABiABDIHCAgQABiABDIHCAkQABiABNIBCTYxMzY5ajBqN6gCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8.E.T.)

Sorry to be such a bore!
