I remember learning when they designed the waste water system for London, the original intent was for the water from the Thames to move the waste water downstream and away from the city. This plan failed miserably when the waste water just kind of sat there, surrounding the city like a foul-smelling moat. While it didn't work as intended, it certainly gave potential invaders pause...To be fair the UK are appalling at losing power especially in those areas where the fines are low, too much of our water dates back to Victorian times, and much of our electricity is long overdue replacement and when the water companies let effluence (family forum) hit our rivers the gov tuts hands out a little fine and the companies say ooh need to increase prices to cover this. ooh bigger profits and bonuses yeah….throw some more garbage in the rivers!
