Good evening: 40°, cloudy with rain and fog predicted after midnight.

Back in the 1950s, the PRR painted three GG1s in SIlver, with a single red stripe. They were intended for service on the Congressionals and the Senator, but found themselves used on just about everything passenger, in electrified territory. AHM, IHC, BLI, Bachmann and MTH among others manufactured examples of these GG1s, well beyond the relatively rare three painted in silver. Here are photos of all three units.

Funny how many models were made of unusual color schemes, and how limited the examples of more common DGLE painted variations there were in relation. 4801-4856 with flat pilots were not produced until just several years ago (BLI). 4800 (Prototype) never produced in plastic.
It was interesting to see the 4872 picture at Wilmington. It showed my uncle at the #3 spot from the left. Decided to look in old photos I had and came across a photo showing front on picture instead of an angle. He now became #2 from the left. He was an electrical inspector for loco shop and I think the shop manager was Joe Kepner. My picture that I have came from Saneorn Studio Wilmington 1, Delaware. We were a three generational railroad family.

Afternoon All,

Started out with a walk at 66F. After breakfast I did some outside chores before heading to the library. After lunch I ran trains for an hour. I'm waiting on the mail today for my needed ladders.

Chad- That would be a really cold morning constitutional.

Alan- Interesting video.

Willie- Nice job on the building.

Smudge- Hope your soreness goes away quickly.

I hope everyone has a good night.

You guys have come across another thing I don't like, cauliflower. My wife uses it in soups, steams it, and fries it in a batter. I'm not having any of it! When my wife makes cauliflower, she always makes me greens. Collards, spinach, or kale, anything but cauliflower!

My daughter once brought home a pizza made with cauliflower crusts. I learned of another way to ruin pizza.

Speaking of pizza. My little Angel was worn out today, she worked hard. I told her forget the salmon cakes how about a pizza? We had a pizza from a local place, Royal Pizza. Green peppers, onions, and extra cheese. It was great!

So my hired help brought their skid loader and the dad was running it to dig out the site today while the son was shoveling snow out of the garage while my son and I were inside the house shoveling. I had to get back for a work meeting and get my daughter but I will be back up there later today to shovel. Don't know how long the hired help will be up there today.

Tomorrow more shoveling and maybe hire some neighborhood kids to help shovel it out.

On another note: I inherited a (for me) large sum of cash from parents estate, so started car researching. After 3 months of dithering about, ended up with a Mazda 6, 2017 ,with only 57000 KM for $24000 (Can) all in. ie all taxes & other *fees* included. I drove Maxda CX5 suv, too boxy for me. Elantra too smallish, lady friends joints creak gettin in & out. Wanted to drive a 21 Sonata, but it was always out as a *loner* car, so not sure if it even existed. Wanted to drive a different Mazda from a different place, but guess what, it was sold the day I called, but salesguy says I got this other one. I got so tired of bait & switch, pushy salespeople emailing every 48 hrs when I was coming . etc etc . My first choice all along had been looking for a 2017 Mustang GT with Premium trim. But they so rare here priced out of my comfort zone.
Junior has 80000 of my inheritance working for me in a Tax Free Saving Acct. (HIs sideling business is making financial plans for people)

Thanks, see what I'm like in the morning, luckily I managed to miss everything on the way down, desk, layout, convection heater and most importantly the box with all the cars Tom has weathered for me, now that would have been a disaster.:D
That would've been a disaster. Better find a safe place to put that box, put it up high someplace so you can't fall on it.

Joe Kepner was General Foreman, Electric Loco Shop the entire time I was at Wilmington...(as a Fireman, Engineer, and Road Foreman). He knew everything about the GG-1, a wealth of knowledge. Of course, that was after the 1964 reorganization, while the Photo was in the 1950s. Joe K walked the entire shop and yard each morning around 0530, and was generally there until 4:30 PM, if not later. Learned a lot from him.

Hi all, I am currently am in search of where I can find a very rare HO Scale engine,
1677287602858.png

This is a Kato Iowa Pacific (San Luis and Rio Grande) Sd90/43mac. I have never seen one in person or on eBay and the only photos of them I have seen are this product photo and probably 2 others. I was just wondering, does anybody own one or know where I could get my hands on such a gem? I like it for the Illinois Central paint scheme :)
