Good Morning Everyone.....cloudy and cold here in this part of Wisconsin. Maybe a major sow storm for the mid to end of the week. We'll see if the forecasters get this one right. No big storms this winter as of yet. A couple of years we had huge snow storms in April that closed many businesses for several days. Now that I'm retired I don't miss the snow storms where I left the house at midnight and ended up working until 5:00 PM. I had to be on site to monitor the crew and contractor doing the snow removal. I trusted the in-house crews to do a great job and the contractor always charged the correct amount for the pieces of equipment and hours worked. The high cost of the removal operations required someone to be on site, even if I was just sitting in my office.

This morning we had the main hallway carpet replace with lighter color than before that was a sort of greenish/brown mix color. Riley found a seam on the old carpet and did a number on the carpet. Now that she's older it shouldn't be a problem.

My right knee is giving me problems, especially with the cold weather. Arthritis is setting in the knee and it bothers me to get out of chairs and getting out of the access openings in my layout. Maybe some Tylenol will dull the discomfort?

Scale Trains should be off the cargo ship by now if their Intel was correct. Glad the Canadian bridge problem corrected its self. Hopefully the situation in the Ukraine improves and there isn't a war which could turn into a world conflict. Too many countries have nuclear arms and would love to see the US enter into another expensive and costly conflict.

Being Valentine's Day I do not dare to venture down to the layout room. Lobster is on the menu for tonight. Finally we found that boiling the critters is the easiest way to prepare them. Seems like the food at restaurants hasn't been has good as in he past.

Bid on four Wisconsin Central box car kits and lost by a dollar. First time that I bid on anything for a couple of years. Three of the four cars interested me and the fourth was to be a guinea pig for some different weathering methods. Too bad the Wisconsin Central was sold and broken up. A classy, well operated railroad. I used to park across the street along the WC mainline in Sussex, Wisconsin and watch the WC switch cars at a Quad Graphics plant. They used the main to hold the empty cars while loaded cars were spotted at the plant. I still see some WC box cars or a locomotive or two still on the rails in their original colors. Funny how many of the WC cars were once SOO equipment and now likely wearing the CN logo.

Trying to decide on what wooden kit to build while Cathy is in Arizona and California. I like to work at the kitchen table because of the better light and I can look outside. Being alone I can keep everything in place on the table while the paint or glue dries. I been reading were old fashioned Elmer's Wood Glue works well for some parts on wooded models.

That's about al for now......

Greg

You need to look at a few cars, there are a number of nice American cars to be bought here in the UK, and you need a US building, evil bay may have something, I used to know a dealer but he retired, which is a shame cos he scooped up second hand kit, my boat on the cove was one of his scoop ups,
Don't have the space to add anymore buildings, but I am thinking of taking out the TT, as I don't use it much, so could put an industrial building in there, but I don't know of any industry that doesn't need an access road of some kind, and I would have to do a major revamp of the layout and what industry stands all on it's own, apart from nuclear power station, mmmmm, now there's a thought......???

A delapidated building and the road no longer connected has sone possibilities

Good afternoon Everybody!

I'm off schedule, not yet off my rocker, at least I dont think so.

The Super Bowl threw me off. I had to take a nap to see all of it and I'm so glad I did, it was a great game! I could do with out all the hoopla, I guess I'm too old to get it. Nevertheless the less I enjoyed watching the game. It was a fitting end to the most exciting playoff season I can remember. Players today are more talented than ever.

Willie, that is a handsome boy!

I'm still behind schedule so that is all for now.

Have a great day Everybody!

Ok, I have not looked at prices any time recently, but I had a place I could buy Oxford at trade prices as long as the order was big enough,I paid around £2.00 for a lot of my cars, several years back now if that’s any consolation. Eventually the paperwork got us as we had to file a vat number and could not do that, so the cheap train dried up.
Loves seeing every ones vehicles, especially as a non US, fascinating to see the differences. If any stragglers have not yet posted, will still love to see them.

Heres some UK ones, circus circus.

Afternoon All,

Started out doing my laundry then got busy in the train room. The parking lot lights are in and working. After that I placed the build on the layout and hooked up the lighting (I'll take a photo of them once it darkens) and started building the train side platform. The "concrete" footers are drying overnight. I should be able to finish it tomorrow. As a plus I found 2 REA freight cars that I forgot I had :).

This morning I ordered 19 diecast cars for $202 (came out of train fund). This includes shipping.

Thank you for all the likes yesterday for my photos,

Ken D&J- Nice job on the track work.

Lee- Nice job on the KW build.

Alan- What a mess.

Dave- That is a nice rural scene. Did you use real dirt?

Steve- Hope your wife and dog feel better soon. Interesting fact about Greyhounds.

Willie- He's a cutie. Great haul.

Real dirt, yes. I dry it well, also sort it with a few different soil sieves.

Afternoon, snow ban off Lake Ontario last night coated thing with 2" of snow and a 4 am wake up call to come to work.
Patrick Hope you feel better.
Karl- Happy Birthday to the wife.
Steve- Hope your wife's hand gets better.
Willie- Your grandson looks like he was having fun.
Dave- Great looking layout scene.

Thanks for the likes on the trucks and trailers.

Nice stuff. it's a shame Athearn seems to have lost interest in their vehicle line. They did some really pretty stuff. You see a few things, trailers and containers mostly, but they aren't devoting the energy to it that they were and it's all very expensive. It's a shame! Nice gas station too. City Classics or Walthers?
Thank you Alan 🙂 ! I agree, discontinuing their line of the Mack trucks left a terrible void for those of us in 1:87 scale who want to populate their layouts with trucks. I remember reading somewhere that another manufacturer of O scale vehicles sued them for patent infringement [?] so they were force to stop making the Macks. (Of course the plaintiff company never bothered to make their own 1:87 line of Mack trucks!)

The gas station is a City Classics kit, one of the earliest structure kits that I bought shortly after I re-entered the hobby 30 years ago. It's been painted for 3 separate brands of gasoline over the years [LOL].
