Good Morning Everyone.....cloudy and cold here in this part of Wisconsin. Maybe a major sow storm for the mid to end of the week. We'll see if the forecasters get this one right. No big storms this winter as of yet. A couple of years we had huge snow storms in April that closed many businesses for several days. Now that I'm retired I don't miss the snow storms where I left the house at midnight and ended up working until 5:00 PM. I had to be on site to monitor the crew and contractor doing the snow removal. I trusted the in-house crews to do a great job and the contractor always charged the correct amount for the pieces of equipment and hours worked. The high cost of the removal operations required someone to be on site, even if I was just sitting in my office.
This morning we had the main hallway carpet replace with lighter color than before that was a sort of greenish/brown mix color. Riley found a seam on the old carpet and did a number on the carpet. Now that she's older it shouldn't be a problem.
My right knee is giving me problems, especially with the cold weather. Arthritis is setting in the knee and it bothers me to get out of chairs and getting out of the access openings in my layout. Maybe some Tylenol will dull the discomfort?
Scale Trains should be off the cargo ship by now if their Intel was correct. Glad the Canadian bridge problem corrected its self. Hopefully the situation in the Ukraine improves and there isn't a war which could turn into a world conflict. Too many countries have nuclear arms and would love to see the US enter into another expensive and costly conflict.
Being Valentine's Day I do not dare to venture down to the layout room. Lobster is on the menu for tonight. Finally we found that boiling the critters is the easiest way to prepare them. Seems like the food at restaurants hasn't been has good as in he past.
Bid on four Wisconsin Central box car kits and lost by a dollar. First time that I bid on anything for a couple of years. Three of the four cars interested me and the fourth was to be a guinea pig for some different weathering methods. Too bad the Wisconsin Central was sold and broken up. A classy, well operated railroad. I used to park across the street along the WC mainline in Sussex, Wisconsin and watch the WC switch cars at a Quad Graphics plant. They used the main to hold the empty cars while loaded cars were spotted at the plant. I still see some WC box cars or a locomotive or two still on the rails in their original colors. Funny how many of the WC cars were once SOO equipment and now likely wearing the CN logo.
Trying to decide on what wooden kit to build while Cathy is in Arizona and California. I like to work at the kitchen table because of the better light and I can look outside. Being alone I can keep everything in place on the table while the paint or glue dries. I been reading were old fashioned Elmer's Wood Glue works well for some parts on wooded models.
