Ok, Most schools are already closed for tomorrow and McConnel AFB is on essential personnel only. This is what we're looking at overnight and into tomorrow:

I'm in the 6-10"+ range. We don't know how to really handle that much snow, but it may be gone by the end of next week.

Yeah, the track is secured to the cork roadbed with flexible caulk. If I used the liquid nails it would have been easier to break it free with a little flexing.
Another member of the club asked that I preserve the yard throats with the turnouts, switch machines and DS64s. He would like to do some work on them to try to make em work. The big problem is the wood warping way out of control. If he just wants to take them to salvage components, then no.
If the wood is warped, and YOU can't get 'em to work, how likely is he? Unless he's a "warped Wood" magician it's not likely, sounds like he's just gonna salvage them to me.

Good Morning! And a beautiful, clear sky morning it is at 25F with the moon visible to the west. The wind is still howling outside, but, that should die down today.

Thank you for the well wishes and likes on my last posting.

Today, I have a lot to do while the wife is gone to work. I'm going to make her some custom fit shelving and install some electrical outlets so she can have her own hobby area. She likes to propagate plants and such, so I'm making an area away from my modelling room. She'll have some grow lights and some shelving, but most importantly, her own space with a work table.

The new Rapido SW1200 arrived a day early. I purchased it M/O through my favorite LHS in Edmonton, Hobby Wholesale. I figure I got as good a deal there as anywhere, because shipping was free.
Here's a series of photos of the new unit:

Well, coffee is gone and I'm not going to hang around. I'll take a rapid test to see if I'm still carrying that nasty virus, and then it's off to get started on the project.

Have a great day!
Love the detailings, window wipers the excellent Fire extinguisher, number plates lovely

Agreed, when my foam warped it was an easy fix, strip the other side of the metal cover.

warped wood. Is nit going to be an easy fix,I do not even remember anyone overcoming this issue. and frankly if you managed to get it to supposedly straighten the minute you add glue or water for scenic what’s not to say it won’t immediately return to warped. Seriously not worth your effort.

This "drive through only" really irks me. Most FF restaurants around here have had dine in since last summer of 2020 or latest Fall 2020 or early 2021. However there are still a few hold outs.

Around here Chick-Fil-A being open for sit down or drive through / pickup only depends on the local franchisee. There were until recently (and may still be) one or two like that but most all the ones around here have opened their dining rooms since last summer/fall. Our closest one closed their dining room for a few weeks in November or December but after I contacted them to complain they told me it was a temporary measure due to staffing issues (every FF and other restaurant around here is crying for workers and many starting $14-$16).

But all the KFC around here are owned by the same franchisee and they refuse to open for dine in. It is so frustrating as my family liked KFC once in a while but I won't go to places that don't support the community and open up. (And I hate drive throughs anyway). The same franchisee of these KFCs also runs a few Taco Bell places (and probably other Yum brand stuff but I don't know -- one of their TB is across the street from their KFC/A&W -- most of the KFC are paired with A&W around here though there are a few stand alone). Though with reduced hours and inability to choose dine-in in the TB app, these TB are open and you can sit down and eat but their KFC, again same owner, across the street is drive-through and pick-up only. Argghhh

We have at least 1 other and I think 2 other franchisees for TB and they are all full hours, sit down, etc. Just the ones owned by the KFC franchisee are reduced hours and weird.

This KFC franchisee opened the first KFC franchisee in the US oh so many years ago. Originally owned by a guy named Pete Harmon, my grandfather was his first customer when he opened a local diner, before he became involved with the Colonel. One of my mom's relatives became their VP of Operations (before he died) and their family always brought KFC to the family reunions of that branch... (Which makes KFC intransigence even more infuriating since my family has/had a distant connection.)

Enough ranting. I am hungry and have not eaten breakfast yet so all this talk of food has me going...
The biggest problem is
1. Food cold
2. The order is wrong and getting solved will result in all food going cokd
3. I hate warming cold takeaway, inc delivery.
4. Have you considered the kfc recipes on line, I tried several one was actually quite similar, the fattier the chicken the hotter the cooking the more similar the results, I wrote the recipe on a jar, I think it is a bout somewhere, I admit it did not look like kfc, but the taste and texture was ok.
5 do you still get bbq ribs, over here they pulled them a long time ago, I have a good bbq recipe equal 3 parts tomato sauce - I use heinz - apple cider vinegar - I use home made with mother, brown unrefined sugar molasses is without doubt the best in my opinion, Demerara is not a good replacement Or indeed any other, and if you use white sugar best you throw it in the bin. I have been known to add Himalayan salt or crushed black peppercorn AFTER if it just needs tweaking.

Ssshhhh don’t mention K F seeee , they don’t approve

Besides the aggravation of speaking into a small speaker to someone I can't understand in the drive-thru (
)

this is my biggest gripe (quoted above). Not so much the "going cold" but just that they always seem to screw it up. And then I have to go in anyway and argue with the drones. Much easier to check the order at the counter. And then most of the food I want is not conducive to eating in my car -- don't need to make a mess in my car. And often the drive-thru line is much longer than the internal counter lines. In-N-Out and Chick-Fil-A around here always have like 20 cars in the line minimum, but hardly anyone inside.

We have learnt to count the trays ‘ dishes with Chinese in the hope of minimising issues, and stopped ordering special house rice but no prawns because 1 in 3 they leave them in, the other half has an allergy his face breaks out in a pink/red mask like Robin from Batman, and he says it makes his face feel odd, so not not good.

Afternoon All,

Back from being Dad's chauffeur to the VA. He picked up 2 pairs of diabetic shoes and compression socks and then we waited for 60 minutes past appointment time for his main reason for going. We're taking him out to supper tonight for his 89th birthday. Tomorrow we have to get up at 0400 to take him to the airport. He's flying up to OH to stay with his youngest brother for 2 weeks. After that a friend's daughter is having her 18th birthday (if we can stay awake). I should be able to get to the train room Sunday.

Thank you all for the photo likes yesterday.

Smudge- My go to response is "yes dear".

Jaz- Too funny.

Terry- Nice scene.

Mikey- MOH told me the same thing.

Guy- Very nice looking SW1200.

Willie- Nice job on the trees.

Patrick- I hope you feel better soon.

Lee- Nice job on the boxcars.

Steve- I look forward to seeing your progress.

Dave- Another nice layout shot.

TomO- I hope your grandson is OK.

I hope everyone has a good night.

The current President must have opened his mouth today, or at least his Press Secretary, as the markets were up early but then have tanked again, pretty severely (at least all my positions)...

But Northrop Grumman (NOC) is soaring today (and has been). Which in my case is not good (have an iron condor on them). I guess that is what happens when people start talking about the possibility of shooting wars. (Speaking of Ukraine)

Greetings! Got word of a train show and swap meet in a few weeks here in the fort (NE Indiana)

These gents do an HO sectional layout. Going to be across the road from our local Texas Roadhouse... might get the wife to go if I promise her chicken and rolls from TRH

I did my writing today, hit the hobby store, did laundry, and now I'm painting some of Le Emperor's finest... unfortunately, not fine enough to counter Wellington. All the while listening to an audiobook by Malcolm Nance, a former Intelligence Analyst. (It's about one of the forbidden topics, so you'll have to look it up yourself).

Still roughing in colors over a white primer/black ink wash. The greatcoats are mostly grey, and Le Grande Armee didn't have many of their usually white trousers left. A lot of grey pants showed up at that battle. So a dull or dirty off-white over the wash will do.

Need to have these done in a week for a game.

Good Afternoon All. So far it's only 75° and sunny. I got back from the doctor before lunch and it was a much better outlook than I expected. I do have a bit of pneumonia, and not something more sinister. Got a shot and a prescription antibiotic and hope to be good to go soon. I guess that the pneumonia vaccine from last year didn't last as long as expected. I could tackle an outdoor project this afternoon with the lovely weather, or rest in preparation for my wife's birthday party tomorrow. I think that I'll just head for the train shed before grilling rib steaks tonight.

The only way I know straightening timber is steam it straight, in a wood press, like they used to do when building wooden boats
