I can't imagine why gas costs so much now.
The Russians are holding the Europeans to ransome over gas,so it pushes up gas prices worldwide.

if you look at uk gas prices, European prices you’ll see. The u.k is just running out on a government cap which has bankrupted a whole host of electrical companies, they use the gas to produce electricity, the cap. Is going up 54 percent, and the Ukraine/Russian isssue will likely mean the Russians put up the fuel nmore cos Europe is reliant on it, the greenhouse effect rules mean many fossil fuel companies know they need to make money while they can to invest in other businesss before they are forced out of business. Certainly they will chase massive profits until we are all not so reliant on fossil fuels snake biting itself syndrome. Imo.

I think the dizziness is from pinched nerve in my neck. Been having a lot of pain there and recent MRI reveals several problems from the top bone down a few to the stenosis in my middle back. Arthritis is chewing away at the bone which is wearing down the disc. 2 and 3 finally fuzzed themselves together. C1 is fractured from an accident in my youth. It goes on and on. The nurse was crying when she looked at the MRI results.

Gas here is @ $3.14 per gallon down .$20 per gallon from last year at this time. That is not politics it is unnecessary greed by the oil companies. Business doing what business does, ceasing opportunities.

So.Central Wi. Is cold at 10f degrees with a wind chill feel of +2. The son in Austin texted that the next batch of rain is falling on top of about 1/4” of ice. He’s staying at home he figures till Friday evening.

Shipped off the last of the sold pulp wood cars. Won’t be making any loads until we get a snow melt and time to get out into the woods. Need more branches to create more pulp sticks. It’s fine I pulled all my ads for these cars and loads anyway. I sold 20 cars with pulp loads and only 6 without. Working on boxcar roofs getting weathered this afternoon and evening.

I use USPS for shipping. Same box size and weight as I had shipped 3 cars 20 miles further south then today. $2.25 more today then last Fridays shipment. Answer from the postal clerk was he just types the stuff into the machine.

Waiting for packages from Clover House, Midwest Model RR, a private seller, Pwrs.ca and Lombard Hobbies. I have been busy with retail therapy.

We watched the USA women hockey team beat Finland at 7:15 CDT this morning. No folks in the stands and I wonder why the hell does the Olympics keep going back to China of all places. Not sure when the opening ceremonies are but the Games have started.

Enjoy your day

almost lost this when it fell off the cart. Caught it just before the floor. Very lucky only a stair landing came off

gas (US) = petrol (UK). Not talking natural gas

Pretty much stuck inside today. Stopped snowing here about two hours ago. We received about 1.5" total sleet and snow. I made the mistake of sweeping the snow off the back porch so that I could bring some wood in to dry. MISTAKE! That just exposed the underlying ice from the sleet/freezing rain which doesn't sweep. I had to step carefully. I'm seeing vehicles going by on the road out front, about 200' away. I can't see whether the road is clear or whether the drivers are just crazy, as they seem to be going about 40 mph. At least that's about 20 mph slower than usual.
It appears that the damn Stock Market is tanking today, that's just making the dreary day even worse. I think that I'll spend the rest of the day sorting and filing layout pictures in the computer.

Stock market dropped today, due to profit taking and Facebook having an exceptionally bad quarter...All of the big boys moved the money into Oil Futures, driving up the price of crude, which affects the price of fuel over the short term....The usual suspects, Investment bankers, Private Capital and Hedge Funds ........ Not for nothing, back in December, Goldman Sachs was projecting Oil Prices at $100.00+ This, while the public was distracted by Delta and Omicron.....

Good afternoon all! The rain has quit for a while. It's supposed to start again sometime this evening and could be a wintery mix. Current temp is 40, going to 29 tonight with a wind chill around 17.
Flo, a BLT with a vanilla malt.

Gasoline prices up here as well, $2.95.9. That's up 20 cents from last week. Some of the largest refineries in the world are here, within 15 miles of the house and yet our prices move just like everyone else's. There is no shipping cost to speak of.

Going to run a train for a little bit.

STAY SAFE

Afternoon All,

Did chores then chauffeured the wife to Sam's Club which seemed to occur at a glacial pace. After finally getting home I finished the rear office roof and attached it to the build. I also added the last freight house roof add-on including roof. Of course, I put the shingles on the last add-on roof in the wrong orientation (requiring them to be redone) all after checking 2 different times...sigh. I still need to run a "tar line" around the upper wall edges.

Got gas today at $3.29 at Sam's Club. In town it's running in the $3.40's. Ouch.

Thank you for all the likes yesterday on my photos.

Troy- You sure it's not Snowzilla? Congratulations, it sounds like you hit the big time with Amazon.

Tom- Great looking modules.

Willie- I've never had to deal with feral hogs. I hear they can be pretty dangerous. Great scenes.

Lee- Nice trailers.

Joe- Very sorry to hear about your experience. When I first heard about the Baltimore FF's I immediately thought of arson.

Louis- I'm glad your nephew survived.

Jaz- Very nice layout shot.

TomO- Great looking silos. You got very lucky.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Does anybody use one of these newfangled laser levels for layout work? Overkill if my longest straights are about 6 - 7 feet?
I used a laser level when I built the layout. I set it on a tripod in the room and it showed the line on all walls. It put a red line where my framework was going. Much easier then using the 2’ and 6’ levels that I still used from habit. Actually for a time I did not trust the red lines on the walls.

Laser levels?

Gerry Leone, over on the MRR Video+ channel (membership) is doing a layout in the house he just built. In the Train room, he established the Starting height for the layout, and made a pencil mark on the doorjamb.

Then each elevation-change major point (Deck 2 start/end, Helix exit, etc) he raised the laser and made another mark. Now, when he needs to line something up in the construction of benchwork, or track height, he can reset the laser to the mark on the door jamb and know he's good everywhere in the train room and measure up or down from that line as needed for whatever he's working on.

Good evening guys, I am late to the game today, woke up with a fever and had sweats/chills overnight. Temp at 99.8 so taking a couple days off. hate to say maybe Omicron. My taste is good and not congested in the least. Time will tell.

Very interesting to read the weather in various parts of the country!

I spent 4 hours sleeping today and 3 hours in the train room, a couple buildings are in the hospital

Here is the sawmill from the "OUTFEED" end. I have moved this building over 4 times, just have to tweak it a little each time

The steam engine and smokestack fell off, and the belt came off the sawmill. The little ramp needs replacement a well.

This building came apart some too:

I love this little building, the sawmill office and specialty storage

Have a good evening and stay warm
