When my kids were growing up, every so often my wife and I would discuss the budget and finances at the dinner table as a way to teach them responsible budgeting and financing. My oldest daughter once remarked that she thought it amusing that I actually budgeted for beer and knew what the yearly total was! At the time, mid-90's, it was ~$1300/year
That's my gaming budget for little toy soldiers.

I knew skipping beer would be beneficial. So far, I've never peed away a little toy soldier.

@Marlin39 keep your eyes peeled for a rough Colt Police or Pocket Positive. I've got a friend in Florida looking for one to "Fitz".
@RhB Michael your LGS should be able to get 22 Short for you.
We were pretty busy at the store yesterday and today. Had a lady come in wanting to sell some guns and we wound up putting two on consignment for her. I talked her into keeping her father's gun, an all correct/matching, non-arsenal refinished Remington 1911 from WW2.

Took advantage of the wet, warm weather and did the annual washing of the windows, screens and frames.

After typhoons, I do a fresh water washdown on the house and cars to reduce the amount of salt on everything. We've been lucky this year and have not had anything strong run us over. A couple of close calls though.

Well, howdy there internet peeps

It's troy again

The cat finally got over his snit and sat with me last evening. He's going to have another snit tomorrow when I take him in for his arthritis shot.

In other news, got the book back from the editor, and have some work to do today and tomorrow.

Since this is about a grand debutante ball, I thought I'd tease my readers with some High Society gossip column profiles of potential suspects... er... suitors from the ball. Have a chuckle while I go start editing.

A Society Page Spotlight on Mr. Archibald Picklewick
(First in our exclusive series examining who may—or may not—secure the coveted seat at HRH’s table)

Whispers flutter through Misty Valley that the formidable Mrs. Picklewick has set her matchmaking sights squarely on HRH Ebrel Dymestl, with her son Archibald firmly in her crosshairs… er, plans.

Young Archibald—known to his circle as “Gherkin”—is possessed of an earnest enthusiasm that some find endearing and others find vaguely alarming. His devotion to courtship is unquestionable; his devotion to sensible tailoring, less so.

Tall, lanky, and forever locked in mortal combat with a rebellious crop of dark cowlicks, Mr. Picklewick is best known for waistcoats so loudly patterned they threaten to upstage the orchestra. One must assume his recent pairing of lime-green silk socks with gold shoes is either a bold fashion statement or an unfortunate attempt to resemble a salad garnish in honor of Her Highness’s refreshments.

On the sporting front, Mr. Picklewick maintains a spirited rivalry with Mr. Barnabas “Tea & Biscuits” Tewkesbury-Fortescue, both on and off the cricket pitch. This rivalry has spilled—quite literally—into matters of the heart, as both gentlemen are rumored to be vying for the attentions of Miss Sarah Frothinghampshire of the Cotswolds Frothinghampshires, a young lady whose calm demeanor may be her greatest survival skill.

In matters of romance, “Gherkin” approaches gallantry with admirable enthusiasm and unfortunate physics. His efforts often conclude with overturned chairs, airborne canapés, or a tray of hors d’oeuvres meeting an untimely end. Debutantes in his vicinity are advised to secure their beverages and remain light on their feet.

That said, Mr. Picklewick is impossibly impossible to dislike. His heart is firmly in the right place, even if his elbows rarely are. While he may not be the strongest contender for a seat at HRH’s table—unless juggling canapés while blushing a violent shade of pink is among the selection criteria—he is certain to leave the ball with fond memories, mild embarrassment, and at least one sauce stain.
