Made it to the dentist and they were able to see me today, which was nice. Form was in english, which helped. Staff understood very little, but enough. Strange thing was that the new doc started the filling process but the older one said something so he stopped. Then he told me that there are two types of filling - one covered by insurance and the other not covered by insurance. The one covered may break off and the one not covered is way stronger. I opted for the one that is stronger, which will cost me about $800 out of pocket.

I didn't have the wits about me to ask what the difference in materials is, so I did some interweb searching and ceramic is the one that is not covered. I had the resin one done before and that's what broke off.

I kinda feel like I'm getting a brake job done for a burnt out tail lamp...

Happy Hanukkah!

Good morning, Everyone!

Lots to comment on, but not much time.

I do want to say, I find all Beach Boys Christmas music to be an offense to God! Of course I am exaggerating, but damn that crap is annoying!

Enjoy your day Everyone!

I will be back...
Yah, but is worse than Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas..."?

Where does it rank on the Whammy Scale? Better or worse than "Last Christmas"?

I have an -- interesting-- issue going on with Fleabay and Fecesbook Marketplace. About six weeks ago, I found an item on Marketplace that I could use here, and at a reasonable price. I messaged the seller. Didn't get a response or even whether the message had been received or read. I messaged two more times over the course of a week, with the same results. Since they never responded, I moved on.

A few days ago, I found the same item on Fleabay. It was at a reasonable Buy It Now price, so I bought it. It was local, and was listed as "pick up only". After the sale was confirmed, I sent a message to the seller. No response. I sent a second message to the seller. No response. I then noticed it was the exact same photos, user, and location in both Marketplace and Fleabay.
While I'm sure I'll eventually get a refund if I never can get the item, I'm a little concerned that maybe something happened to the seller. Of course, if something happened to them six weeks ago when I first saw the Marketplace ad, or even longer, since that's just when I found the ad, and not when it was posted, the seller is probably beyond any help at this point...

Good morning Crew from a still cool but warming Wisconsin. It’s +9f degrees feels like -9 but heading to 23. We will also be above 0 on the wind chill calculator around noon!

Watched the Badger VB Women punch their ticket to the Final 4 in a relatively easy match against overall #2 Texas in Austin yesterday. We are thinking of being in KC Thursday night for the match against Kentucky. We have access to the tickets. In other VB news, hated rival and #1 undefeated Nebraska went down in 5 thrilling sets yesterday afternoon on ABC tv.

Maybe an hour at the bench yesterday. Just measuring and marking things up. I did tidy up the bench some.

Heading out at 9 for 2.5 hour layout work session. We are going to assemble his final puzzle pieces of framework for the mushroom style peninsula. Long time in coming for the owner of the paper mill and power plant builds I have going on. We should be able to assemble the frames so the Wednesday work crew can come in and install them and the wiring. This will be the final connection to all 3 decks and he can finish his 1200’ + double mainline. I then can get back to structure building for him.

Be well

13°F this morning. Almost twice what it was this time yesterday. Supposed to be 41°F today and in the 50s the next two days after that.

Good morning all. Hope it was a good weekend for everyone. I might work on that broken pantograph today but I haven't decided what I'm doing today, if anything.

Have a great day folks! Servus!

I believe it’s a Marx?
Dave: It is a Marx. I had a very similar set, with a slightly different engine, back around 1954 or so. My version was sold under the Happy Times Brand at Sears Roebuck. The C&O gondola, and the NYC Box car & Cabin were tinplate, the Engine and tender cast. My set also might have had a tank car. Great photo that kindled memories of Christmas Past.

Too many snowbirds??
That and growth has exceeded capacity. The county has nothing in their ten year plan to improve the street infrastructure here, either. And subdivisions are still being constructed as fast as they can buy land and put up houses. While the increase in housing may help prices, it is making it nearly impossible to go anywhere.
I live 17.6 miles from work, and all but the last 4 miles is on a US highway with 60mph speed limit. The shop hours are 8-5. If I leave at 6:00am, I can get there by 6:20. If I leave at 6:30, I get there at 8:15--or later. Leaving work at 5, I am lucky to get home by 6:30. Everything around me is 2 lane "rural" roads, even though it's now heavily developed. I've waited at the end of my driveway for 15 minutes, trying to get out. Even if somebody wanted to let me out, nothing is moving, so they literally can't move to let me out of my driveway. When I moved here in September, it was "busy", but this is a couple levels above that.
