good morning coffee world.

please i need a big mug of coffee.
well weekend has passed quick (as always). but i did manage to do some stuff in my basement.

- created over the weekend around 50 bushes for my shop (now i have all the colors 7 in total) on display.
- started a "small" diorama project in scale 1:35
- did learn "when your doing around 50 bushes with static gras, your workshop looks like a mess afterwards"

now back at work, and thinking, damn. i didnt a thing on my shelflayout :(

the new project:

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with messes in their hobby rooms.

It's Troy again. It's between 11° F and 14°F depending on which weather station on W-Underground I look at.

I'm getting depressed that the snow on my kamado grill still hasn't melted enough to slide off. :(

About to head up to shower, then go hit the big box hardware for a sheet of 1/2 inch foam. I had to order the incline risers from a vendor on Amazon. I noticed it was a few dollars more there than an independent hobby shop outside of Amazon. Hmmmm... maybe my "free shipping" via Prime isn't as free as they want us to believe? ;) It was still a buck cheaper than direct from a hobby shop. The inclines should be here next weekend.

Sciatica is back bothering me again. Not terrible, but a reminder to keep using the teeter table and do my leg stretches to "floss" the nerve back and forth.

Not sure what today will bring beyond laundry and normal chores.

Good morning Crew. It’s 5f degrees, it feels like 5 and it is heading to the mid 20’s today. No snow predicted for today but depending on what app I look at tomorrow is a mild snow day <3” or a nasty one with >5”. They are claiming a 78% chance though for the WGFA.

I have a series of labs and a few booster shots this afternoon. Other than that, no official wife plans for the day. I have to take the garbage and recycling bins to the curb for sure before 7:30 as the pickup is pretty regular between 7:45 and 8:15.

Terry asked yesterday if I really wanted to go to Austin Friday to see the Badger VB team play in the NCAA tournament. My reply, “only if you do”. She does not and I will be glad to stay here and watch them on ESPN+.

The LHS took in a large estate of HO locomotives and sent out emails to let us know. When he does that it’s usually a good sign he’s got too many things and it’s priced to sell. I will sometime before 8pm head there and check things out. It’s always nice to get some Athearn Genesis or Bowser diesels for $100 to $150, test them, weather them and sell, especially before Xmas. I could do 10 this week and put them on Facebook to sell. January and February though are typically my best selling months but this past year has been anything like typical for selling trains. It’s been like the old stock market warnings, “past performances are not indicative of …

Be well

Morning all,

Wow, 13 pages since I was last on...I'll go back and read later.

28° and mostly cloudy this morning, high later of 47°. Spent the weekend starting to get the house ready for Christmas. Then was here on Saturday, which went surprisingly well. No big surprises. Then yesterday I was cleaning my desk and got sidetracked with an old computer game I hadn't really played in years. Still plays on Windows 11 when it was written for Windows 98, although I have to get some older video codecs as the intro and in-between video's no longer play.

Oh well, BBL

Good Morning All. Clear and 27°, probably seems warm to Bill, Troy and Tom O, but it's a bit cool for us. It's actually 5° cooler than the NWS had predicted. Looking forward to a sunny day today for a change. While it won't be real warm today, low-50's, the 60's return tomorrow. Still no chance of snow or even rain in our 10 day outlook.

Off to a late start this morning, as I slept in til the very late for me time of 5:30. We have a joint appointment with the EN&T doctor this morning. I go annually and my wife goes every 3 months. It's the start of a medical week for me, a surgery pre-op on Wednesday and the heart ablation surgery on Thursday. It's supposed to be an in and out thing if all goes well. It's not supposed to make me feel any better, but is supposedly going to correct the atrial flutter issue that I have been having.
Laundry to do today, as I skipped the bed linens yesterday due to time constraints. My wife did do an entire load without any of my stuff in it! So that's backed up too. Although I can go for at least a week without needing anything laundered. My part of the dresser is full. I have more tee shirts than I really need, probably in excess of 30.

Last night's birthday bash for our granddaughter was decent. However Benihana's is not on my list of places that I would pick for a meal. But it is the place that she picked...I guess that her parents have taken her there before. I think that she is impressed with the theatrics. Cost was unbelievable! Grandpa chose not to volunteer to pick up the entire tab for 8 people. With tip added, I spent $300 for the two of us! The damn bottle of wine, which she shared with others, was an exorbitant $78. Beer was $9/bottle, which while not extreme was still high. Food was good however. Drive home was OK except the music. I don't fiddle with it when I drive, I just set the radio on a Sirius classic rock station and leave it there. She changes constantly, either because a DJ starts speaking or she gets tired of what's playing. I never hear a compete song! Then we end up with endless ABBA or Donna Summers, neither of which I appreciate. Give me hard rock! Van Halen, AC/DC, Deep Purple or something similar.
Happened to see a few minutes of an NFL game yesterday when I sat in the living room to talk with my wife. Watched Buffalo score 3 touchdowns in less than 5 minutes against Cincinnati! I still marvel at that stupid kick-off procedure.

No time in the train shed yesterday and I already miss that. I'll work some time in today.

Tom O - Was the search for the glucose monitor successful?
The trip to Austin would give you a chance of some nicer weather and an opportunity to use your Texas toll tag if you drove!;)
David - Interesting family history regarding your mother and the RAF planes that you've mentioned a couple of times. Your family deserves to be proud of her.
Can you send your granddaughter across the pond to do some scenery for me?
John - Best of luck getting the water damage repaired.
Troy - That Gimbap might be good if there was meat or fish in it!
"Free shipping" via Prime is a real misnomer as I have seen. On an off note, we got a delivery to our door of a package from Amazon yesterday, that was sent via USPS. The driver was a weekend "sub" who went by GPS instead of skipping by our mailbox 1.25 miles away, and taking it back to the PO for us to pick-up. And what was with USPS delivering on Sunday anyway?!?!

Today is the birthday of two late rock stars, Jim Morrison was born on this day in 1943 (d. 1971), and Gregg Allman in 1947 (d. 2017). I only saw The Doors once in 1970, and the concert sucked. Morrison was too drunk and the rest of the band couldn't keep it together. Only concert that I ever asked for my money ($2) back and I got it. So did a lot of others. The Allman Brother's concert at the same venue about 2 months earlier, with the whole original band, was one of the best that I ever attended. That is one musical experience that I can't ever forget. Some in the late-70's are a bit hazy!

Everyone have a great Monday.

$9 for a bottle of beer? I hope it was an import.
Well, it was an import, but it was a Corona from Mexico.
By the way, there wasn't a single Japanese employee in the whole place. Like every food establishment in Texas, every chef and most other employees were Mexican. Our chef was Miguel. He was very good, but not as pretty as the lady chef at the next table over. One of the theatrics used was he spun a whole egg around on the grill and called it an eggroll. Our granddaughter was impressed.

Good morning all!

Monday, Monday....

Another below average Northern Illinois day. Currently 11F with a high of only 18F. No snow predicted. It is nice and sunny.

Usual Monday household chores today. The laundry piled up somewhat so I'm playing catch-up. We were busy baking this
weekend, do some of this stuff took a back-seat.

Daughter has a basketball game tonight, and its an away game. Travel and dinner out somewhere tonight.

Have a safe day everyone!
