Thanks guys, I appreciate the thoughts and I know our boys (they don't know they're really dogs) would like the extra attention!

The reason for the surgery delay was due to the blood thinner she took. They gave her something to increase the clotting ability of her blood but it took a while to take effect. That was the reason for postponing to this afternoon. Don't know what the additional delay was. She's in surgery now, we're waiting for it to get over.

I second that . Prayers and best wishes.

Going down to 37 tonight may hit 54 tomorrow. Tuesday night will even be lower. Thanks for sharing what winter feels like. However, have many memories and don't need a reality check. lol

Had a nice talk with Chet. Went down memory lane about Miami.
Bedtime has past, so off I go. Goodnight all.

Phil

Bob: Your ML is in our prayers, and we have included you and your wife. Remember to care for yourself and your wife as well as the "boys". We just went through a similar situation, caring for an aged parent is not easy. What is amazing is the number of obstacles placed in your path when you are trying to do the right thing. Everyone seems to forget the elderly patient is also a human.

16°, and windy. From what I can tell it is clear.

The folks here are what makes this site so great! I'm home now with the boys and my wife is spending the night with her mom. The doctor said it went well and they had her back in her room around 10:20 PM. We'll see how well she does coping with her dementia. Hoping for the best but we are fully aware of the hurdles.

Sorry to be a downer but a few kind words can go a long ways when it comes to lifting one's spirits. I've shown these posts to my wife and the many replies and I could see it had a positive affect on her. Once again, thanks. Like Tony the Tiger would say........YOU'RE GREAT!

Good Morning All. It's 35 degrees and partly cloudy here this morning. It's going up to the lower 60's today and bouncing from 54-62 for the high for the next ten days. No rain predicted yet. Today is grocery foray day again. That ties me up for about three hours. Then the great outdoors will probably rule so I won't get much time in the train shed today, between now and 9:00 am at best.
Bob - Very glad that things are looking up. Hopefully your wife can get a break and spend a night at home. My thoughts are with the whole family.
Denton has a very good hospital and related facilities, IIRC.
You are correct. I don't remember whether you said what time period your daughter lived there, but they have three very good facilities now. All new, clean and fully staffed.
Chet - Looking forward to seeing the final results.

That's it for now, everybody have a great day.

Willie

Good morning, 14°,and clear, still very windy. Couldn't sleep, my right shoulder is very sore today.

Good morning - 23 degrees to start off the day

Bob - Sounds like the surgery went well. Hopefully your MIL will recover quickly. My prayers are with you and your family.

Chessie - Looks like you're making some good progress with the yard.

Curt - Somehow I missed the photo of the track installation. I imagine you'll have it completed soon.

Here a weird photo I found. What kind of contraption is this ???? Looks like possible some kind of a switcher.

Morning Gents,
17 here.

Bob my Grandmother suffers from severe dementia. According to Dad, she just mumbles indiscernible noises and he's fairly certain she no longer recognizes him at all. He's an only child and visits her pretty much every single day which makes it tough on him.
Dad also has had a hip and both knees replaced so just the movement of visiting is sometimes physically painful for him.
I wish you the best!
E.

PS: My step-sister and her husband are both big-wig Dr.s at the hospital in Springfield. Your MIL will be in good hands there. I would not be surprised if you all cross paths. Dr. Lisa in in radiology and her hubby Dr. Keith is a neuro-surgeon capable of about any other kind of surgery imaginable. Their last name is Wicherman (I'm not certain about the spelling).

Is that minus 23? I wouldn't imagine we would be colder here than up yonder.

Just guessing, but maybe that engine is some sort of special track maintenance type vehicle.
Although I wouldn't imagine they would have spent the money to paint it up in road colors.
Then again, no one ever accused the RR industry of spending money wisely.

My ride will be along shortly so I'll catch you fellers this evening.

Good morning ! "Tis 'bout 39* now . May hit 50 or 52. Weather guru says will get tiny bit colder tomorrow. Thinking bout goin to KEY WEST to warm up..

Chet- With those tanks on top, may be used for weed control.

Louis or anyone- When did B&O start using Time-Saver Service on their cars ?

Phil

Good Morning, 13 below today, a real warm up from the last two mornings being minus 25. And that is not wind chill.

Chessie--nice to see the loco's in the yard!
Bob--Hope your MIL has a easy recovery
Chet--That is a wierd contraption. With all those tool boxes (I think) and big chain wrapped around the front maybe it was used by the maintenance and repair crew.

Well, I got all the backdrop up except the last 3', which will be installed when I get all the transition scenery done. Here is an initial shot, for the progress before transition from the layout is completed:

On the left two pieces come together. Will be some trees added to the back of the layout to camoflauge the transition

The other end of the layout, the hairline on the right side is where two pieces come together, the sheets were 12', 12', 10'; three unions

Chet, It is still around, at the B&O museum http://www.borail.org/CO-NoX-5000.aspx

Thanks for the info. I figured that it could possibly be some kind of switcher but it sure had an odd shape to it. I can remember this little guy that the shop people in Deer Lodge built to move locomotives onto the turntable and into the roundhouse for the Milwaukee Road. There was no overhead catenary for the electric locomotives and it was actually powered with an extension cord. I still have relatives that worked for the Milwaukee Road living in Deer Lodge. Shop crews sure can be creative.
