Moved a cord of wood yesterday, brought the next batch of cabinets up from the shed to the garage, then cut more flooring for the garage attic. Yes, I feel every one of my years this morning! ! last section to nail down today, then SWMBO and I have lots of stuff to store. Maybe this afternoon I can play with the trains............or catch a nap?;)

No one seemed to be here at the shop yet morning, so I let myself and opened up for the day.
40° and mostly cloudy here right. Not too bad really.

Question: is UPS running tomorrow/Monday on MLK day? I've gotten several messages from Amazon saying to expect delivery tomorrow.
My big giant order was broken up into 7 or 8 shipments - which I expected.

Thanks for opening the shop E - I'll have fancy Latte decaff with just a smidgeon of cinnamon and ... oh to hell with it, who am I kiddin', just give me a bucket of strong BLACK!

Didn't know it was Martin Day tomorrow but if it is then no government places will be open (imagine that - ANOTHER government holiday), meaning no USPS, don't know abut UPS.

On a side note, I have had Google Chrome for eons but, with all of it's "garbage" I decided to get rid of it this morning and installed Fire Fox. Anyone use that (Fire Fox) and what do you think of it?

Last time I tried it, years ago, it kept freezing and doing all sorts of unexplainable things.

Suppose to be 40 here today - time to break out the swimmers I guess :p

Coming right up Mate!

I'm not allowed to open the beer cooler until 12:30 however. At least that's how it is in the state of GA.

Yep, tomorrow, Monday is MLK day.

i use Firefox on everything I own that will support it. The first versions were kind of "iffy", but since then it has worked great. You will probably really like the reduction in advertising thrown at you.

Beautiful picture Sirfoldalot!

Terry what do you think of metal wheels in the old life-like trucks?

Are you talking about the ones that came in the early Proto kits, or the really old/train set stuff? The Proto trucks are okay, I like the rib backs on the chilled wheelsets, but that doesn't look right on modern stuff.

I have been using Firefox for years also - works a whole lot better than Internet Explorer - I also have Google chrome - with the Ad-Block plug in. Funny thing is that some of the local government sites lock up Firefox, but Chrome works well, mostly, Firefox is my preferred browser. I was actually able to purge Microsoft Internet Explorer from my Win 7, with Microsoft Tech's help.

Do you recall how you did that - purge your computer of Internet Explorer? I too run Windows 7

Unfortunately no, but I think the answer is on Microsoft's Support Site FAQ, under disabling IE. Apparently many people want to disable it. I have no doubt it's still there as a hidden file somewhere within the Windows code, but it won't show up as an active program, or update.

Now, if I can only identify and purge some of the other background stuff that eats processor capacity and memory.

Tony I used Firefox exclusively on my old Windows XP machine and in the beginning, it served me quite well. But all the unsolicited "updates" that installed themselves gradually made it incompatible with some of my plugins [can't remember exactly which ones though]. So if you do decide to use it and are satisfied with it, disable the Automatic Updates feature. Aside from rendering some of the plugins unusable, the updates will execute at the exact moment you attempt to use Firefox and force you to wait 5-10 minutes until it finishes. A highly annoying trait if you wanted to quickly look something up.

I just did a google search on Firefox 64bit for Windows 8.1 machines, and it seems like people are having a lot of issues with it; think I'll wait another few months on that!

I use Chrome and it does have lots of features I don't really need, but at least they stay the same and I know how to avoid them. If I install any type of "freeware" I look very closely at the license agreements that appear. If they are not for the software I wanted, I refuse them. Freeware distributors often bundle their stuff with a bunch of other garbage that sometimes will install unwanted toolbars on Chrome. I've finally figured out how to keep that from happening.

I was the last one out the door last night so I'm kind of late stumbling in this morning. I got sick yesterday evening and spent about 15 minutes (seemed a lot longer!) in an intense effort to purge my body of whatever it was that was not agreeing with it. Its efforts appear to have paid off as I felt bad for about an hour and a half, then started down the road to a remarkably quick recovery! This morning I feel good enough to seriously contemplate eating some of the pizza for breakfast that was supposed to be my supper. Too much, too soon? I think I may find out.

Yoy can totally uninstall it if you want. Last year I had an incident with IE. My wife is league secretary on out Friday night bowling league and when she was getting ready for the new season, she could not access her bowling program. It was on the computer, but would not open. After talking with tech support for the program I found out that the updated version of IE was the problem. Following the tech supports instructions, I undid the automatic update and went to an older versiopn of IE and the program worked fine. That was the end of IE for me. It was del;eted. Firefox is my choice also, at work and at home.

By the way, it's 43 degrees and cloudy this morning, with rain possible during the day. I don't usually get on the computer on weekends as I sit in front of one all day long at work and keep up with the forum on taptalk, but did finally post a video tour of my layout this morning

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiNqrkq9xYY

I was hoping to get some work done on the layout yesterday but I ended up wiring an addition for a friend because his electrician got into a snowmobiling accident and will be out of commission for a few weeks. Guess there will always be tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that.
