Guess I'll get my next bag of "feed" ready. Doesn't take long to do normally but i take my time and stretch it out. Helps to stave off some of the boredom. Maybe I'll do some drugs and drink a beer. [emoji3] Not likely.
I haven't drank more than a half beer in a many months.

Eric. Hang in there . You will be okay . The new year is nearly here and it will be better than 2016 was for you.

Eric, you could try putting the beer in the feed bag...

Nice idea but the feed bag is sealed. When i had the gtube/feed-tube don't think I didn't pour in some beer AND a shot or two a couple of times.

Kidding aside though, I am able to drink like a normal human most of the time so i can drink a beer pretty much as usual.

Good evening. It's cloudy and 54.
I hope everybody has a good/happy whatever holiday they are celebrating.

I haven't gotten back to anyone about the situation with the vehicle, but I thought I should make a couple of things clearer. The rear axle is bent backward on the driver's side, which results in a 1.26 degree negative toe and left thrust angle. That's really not enough for anybody to see, just looking at it. Next, the frame is tweaked to the right 1.06 degrees. These have a net effect of nearly canceling each other out, as far as thrust angles and crabbing sideways. So, the only real symptom is the left rear tire wearing off after 8,000 or so miles. I could spend about $1800 for a used axle assembly, plus labor and "peripherals" to fix the tire wear problem. At that point, the truck would crab to the right slightly. To fix that, I asked a frame shop about straightening it. They indicated it would be about $1000 for that, provided the frame didn't have any hidden damage.

Good morning and Merry Christmas to all! Been away for the past couple days because of some kind of stomach bug, been sleeping so much that my cicadian rhythm is shot, that's why I'm posting at 1:40am EST.

Sherrell - welcome back, glad to see your procedure went ok.

Eric - I can imagine it's pretty depressing to be stuck alone on Christmas Eve. But hang in there - it won't always be like this!

Terry - I hope the truck frame problem can be corrected without severely impacting your budget.

Dave in MN - welcome back!

Hope y'all have a great Christmas and enjoy some quality time with your families!

Merry Christmas to all.

Merry Christmas Everybody!

Ken of the D&J Santa was good to you, that is one great looking locomotive! Well done my friend!

If I had more time and energy I would say so much more, but I'll sum it up; God Bless Us Everyone!

Oh yes, it is ON now!

Good Morning and Merry Christmas to All. 68° and overcast this morning. Fog yesterday stayed all day but dissipated overnight. Some scattered showers off to the east that might not even be hitting the ground. It'll be a few hours yet before I see what train stuff I might get this year. I generally get at least three gift certificates to Discount Model Railroads, since most of my family is clueless except my two grandsons. They pay very close attention to what they see on the layout and have been very good about seeing the need for certain items. Discount is about three miles from their house.

Bruce - I only saw JT twice, first in 1969 when an up and coming band from England called "Yes" opened the show, pretty good show overall; and again in the early 90's which was all electric. Very awesome especially "Locomotive Breath" as you describe. Nice Christmas haul. Now you are going to have to do some scenery...LOL
Ron - It's a bit of a drag having to work on Christmas Eve, but at least you're driving a train!!! Merry Christmas wherever you are.
Sherrel - An early Christmas gift. Glad to hear that the surgery went of without any major hitches. I guess that the rain was a secondary gift!
Ken in Md - Get well soon. Always a drag being sick on a holiday.

Gotta go. Once again Merry Christmas to all and everybody have a great day.

Willie

Good morning and MERRY CHRISTMAS gang!
We were invaded by most of the family yesterday, so today SWMBO and I have a quiet day, later in the week my 2 sisters and offspring.
Tomorrow a trip to HD to pick up a new water heater, Tuesday morning the plummer will be here.

Ken. I hope you feel better soon, don't leave the germs in the train room where I might get it.!!!
L8ter gang!

Thanks guys, I hope everybody made out half as good as I did! I've pretty much figured out the balance I want to see between continuous running and "operations", now that I've seen how much room is needed for some of the different things I want to do I can put the puzzle together. NOW is the part of my particular program where I start some serious PLANNING in the traditional sense beyond just trying to see what the track and locos can and cannot do!

Who should I be looking at for curved turnouts?

MERRY Christmas!

Bruce, you can move the portalets around to the areas you'r working on, for added realism.

Oh for sure! I want to have that "living" feel to it, always slightly changing like the "real" world, roads get repaired and maintenance must be conducted! I want to "play" with the scenery as much as the trains! Every bush, tree and fence post must have a "compelling backstory"! LOL!
