Good Morning Folks. A balmy 46° with scattered clouds this morning. Another beautiful day yesterday with sunshine and 65°, same forecast for today. Then light rain starting about 2100 tonight lasting for 12-15 hours. Made the weekly grocery/beer trek yesterday and mostly did stuff in the garden. "Make hay while the sun shines" is the old timers saying around here.
Assembled another freight car kit that required re-numbering in the train shed yesterday. This one was a very old Walther's kit of a 40' cement covered hopper. I've probably had it 15 years now. By the way, rule #1 of using dry transfers is make sure that you have at least three of the number that you will use, especially if they are 20 years old. Fortunately I had and needed four. First side went on flawlessly and gave me a false sense of confidence. Hahaha! Still need to weather it to make the slight mis-alignment less noticeable, and to mask the end numbers that I "jury-rigged". I'm letting the Dull-cote dry overnight first.
Garry - Yes I have been busy with freight cars. Added five to the layout in the past three days. I have room for them now since over the past six months I added about 100' of main line, 45' of passing sidings and and 15 industry spurs/sidings with a capacity of 49 cars total. This is why I don't get any scenery done!!!
Chet - I have some of those self adhesive weights as well, but I use them mainly for locomotives. Using pennies costs 10¢ per oz., while the weights cost me about 60¢ per oz.
but with the age going up, I am finding that things that were easy years ago are becoming more of a task.
I still remember being able to install KaDee coupler springs with the naked eye!
Bruce - City inspectors are another hassle that I don't have to deal with living out in the boonies thankfully. That's not to say that I don't build everything to code, I just don't have the paperwork and the "wait" hassles to put up with.
Ken in Md - Obviously good news on the glaucoma screening.
Curt - Congratulations on the signaling milestone, now just eight more to start! I see from the picture why it was such a tough project.
Ray - I've seen heated seats many times, but a heated steering wheel? What model is that? Must not offer that option here in Texas.
Terry - Don't have time for the video yet, must be good from the other comments. I'll have to remember to come back tomorrow during the rain to see it.
Okay, I have a soldering iron with its' name on it...
Better than the brick that
Bruce has!
Everyone have an awesome Friday.
