Good morning fellers. Just got done with a hellish coughing fit which about suffocated me. Finally got my wind back long enough to call the nurses station.
I'm ok now but dam that sure is a pain!!
I figured Louis might be here - maybe not

I guess that's one way to wake up in the morning.
Is the coughing over now, or still going?

It's clear, and 35 here. Tomorrow and Sunday our club is having their first open house in several years, we now have a "simple" loop around the room complete again, so we can run a few trains for the public.

.

Done coughing - for now.
I hate this trach. Beside the constant pain I always feel like something is poking me from the inside.
Oh wait... there is !!

37 F in the middle of the mitten.

That is BAD, E! No panic button to call the nurse? Where ARE you, the V.A.? Get that button where you can get at it!

I don't blame you for avoiding the V.A. I do too anymore, it just came out some dentist they use was not cleaning his equipment and has infected many veterans with hepatitis and HIV! It's amazing that ONLY 20% of us die before the V.A. gets around to seeing us! AFTER we have asked for the help we were promised!

EVERYBODY check your DD214 and get those funny little letter codes figured out! It' effects EVERYTHING that happens when you are separated from active service! Benefits, re-enlistment, credit with loan institutions, EVERYTHING!

"Tis the season--I guess...

i was sitting at the table a few minutes ago, drinking a cup of coffee, when I noticed a Mail truck pull up in the driveway. A mailman hopped out of the truck, and dropped a package on my back porch that was supposed to be here yesterday, ran back to his truck, hopped in, and motored off.

Okay, I have a soldering iron with its' name on it...

I put the new wires from Hornby in the box with the Loco, they are nestled snugly next to the drive wheels. If I had any soldering experience I might have tried it but THIS is not what I want to be learning on! I was looking through the "goody" box of detail parts and saw what looks like a many pinned decoder, and a drive wheel with a gear on it along with the scale size chains, grab irons and TINY well formed spikes for purposes I am ignorant of. You want that stuff? I'll never be putting proto grab irons or tiny chains on this thing and if that is a decoder I won't be using it any time soon. I just want to run the very expensive loco that has sat in a box for over a year! I watched a review of a box opening of the same loco and HIS connector was good with the insulation all the way down into the connector and he had it programmed and running in ten minutes! BLARG! MINE has to be the ONE screwed up example from the entire run of that model! DOUBLE BLARG!

Good Morning Folks. A balmy 46° with scattered clouds this morning. Another beautiful day yesterday with sunshine and 65°, same forecast for today. Then light rain starting about 2100 tonight lasting for 12-15 hours. Made the weekly grocery/beer trek yesterday and mostly did stuff in the garden. "Make hay while the sun shines" is the old timers saying around here.
Assembled another freight car kit that required re-numbering in the train shed yesterday. This one was a very old Walther's kit of a 40' cement covered hopper. I've probably had it 15 years now. By the way, rule #1 of using dry transfers is make sure that you have at least three of the number that you will use, especially if they are 20 years old. Fortunately I had and needed four. First side went on flawlessly and gave me a false sense of confidence. Hahaha! Still need to weather it to make the slight mis-alignment less noticeable, and to mask the end numbers that I "jury-rigged". I'm letting the Dull-cote dry overnight first.

Garry - Yes I have been busy with freight cars. Added five to the layout in the past three days. I have room for them now since over the past six months I added about 100' of main line, 45' of passing sidings and and 15 industry spurs/sidings with a capacity of 49 cars total. This is why I don't get any scenery done!!!
Chet - I have some of those self adhesive weights as well, but I use them mainly for locomotives. Using pennies costs 10¢ per oz., while the weights cost me about 60¢ per oz.
but with the age going up, I am finding that things that were easy years ago are becoming more of a task.
I still remember being able to install KaDee coupler springs with the naked eye!
Bruce - City inspectors are another hassle that I don't have to deal with living out in the boonies thankfully. That's not to say that I don't build everything to code, I just don't have the paperwork and the "wait" hassles to put up with.
Ken in Md - Obviously good news on the glaucoma screening.
Curt - Congratulations on the signaling milestone, now just eight more to start! I see from the picture why it was such a tough project.
Ray - I've seen heated seats many times, but a heated steering wheel? What model is that? Must not offer that option here in Texas.
Terry - Don't have time for the video yet, must be good from the other comments. I'll have to remember to come back tomorrow during the rain to see it.
Okay, I have a soldering iron with its' name on it...
Better than the brick that Bruce has!

Everyone have an awesome Friday.

Willie

Good morning y'all, Happy Friday! 32° and sunny.

This place has really been busy of late, hard for me to keep track with what's going on here. I have made some progress with my layout, it's actually starting to look like something. meanwhile, I have a package due from MBK today.

Take care and have a great weekend.

Good morning fellers. Not much going on here. Cold as all get out! But....it's Friday!!!! Made $40 yesterday on the side. One of our drivers has an 01 Ford F250 that had a starter smoking and shooting sparks. Ofcourse it wouldn't start. None of the guys I work with wanted anything to do with it. Look at me and I quote: You are the Ford guy. You do his starter. Ok! Money in my pocket. Just funded my trains for the weekend.

LOL! Easy money, even I can do a starter! Way to go, 40 bucks can go a long way on a layout!

Good morning. it's 26 degrees with a few inches of snow that fell over night.

Terry - Enjoyed the video. Anything to do with steam interests me. Christmas came early for you on a Friday.

Eric - Sorry you're having so many problems, but you'll get through this.

Willie - I really like the self adhesive weights when putting the Intermountain tank cars together. Those cars are so cotton pickin' light and they fit right into the lower part of the car so well. Ended up getting extras just for the heck of it and they have come in handy. I really don't care about the price. Guess I'm paying for convenience. I have quite a few old Atheran blue box kits that started out as undecorated versions that were completely done with dry transfers. They came out excellent, even the one single car there all of the transfer didn't adhere completely. A little bit of weathering and problem solved.

Gott get some things done. Later.

Good morning .

Does anybody else have problems with Photobucket.? I can't upload new images.

Curt .... You requested a photo of my flat car. I can't upload the picture into Photobucket this morning.
