Thanks all for the commiseration on the house work, it's a never ending battle with a place this big. Get to one end and start back on the other. We bought a foreclosure and had to put as much into it as it cost to get the city inspectors off their hind legs! Now it's the continual upkeep, it's always something. We've been lucky, the minor disasters have not cascaded one upon the other so fast we could not keep up and I think I've got em pretty well spaced out to where they won't all re occur at once!

Stay positive E, you know your back is covered!

Good afternoon all.

Just got back from the semi-annual glaucoma screening with my eye doctor, and she said the results were actually better this time than the first time! I'm considered to be at risk because my mother had it really bad, and my sister was starting to get it during the final 18 months before she passed away. If this trend continues, I can cut back my visits to once-a-year.

Bruce I feel your pain, I've had to sink megabuck$ into upgrades for my house.

Gotta stop for now, my vision is still hazy from the eye drops they put in...

Afternoon All,

Did some chores around the house this morning then ran some errands. The good news is I am done building the last signal:cool:. It's mounted, hooked up and tested. Of course I still need to do the SPST switches, but that will be after Christmas. Tomorrow I need to clean up my work bench and put everything away.

Garry- Pictures of the flat car?

Johnny- Awesome idea, but I don't see it happening! LOL.

Louis- Great Pennsy picture. I may have to recreate it tomorrow on the layout.

VA Ken- Hope you stayed warm.

Terry- Best wishes for your nephews B-I-L and your service manager.

Eric- That doesn't look like much fun. I hope you can make a break for freedom very soon.

Toot- Our temp today is 85 F. We are in the winter season here. It warms up for a couple of days then cools down for a couple of days, and so on until early March when it just stays hot until late November.

Chet- I think most of my issues are that I tend to be ham-handed with small things and although I am better at soldering, I'm still not that good soldering.

Here is a blurry picture of the inside of the last signal.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Ken - Over the past two years we did spend mega bucks but now live in a new 40 year old house. Thankfully we were able to do most of the work our selves with the help of family. The only tradesman we hired was to install tile, kitchen back splash, two bathroom tub surrounds and floors plus a tile floor in the entry foyer. I would hate to think what it would have cost if we hired all of the work out.

Curt - That does look like an extremely small place to be soldering. I know what it is like to be ham handed. Used to have no problems, but with the age going up, I am finding that things that were easy years ago are becoming more of a task.

Garry,
Toot .... Thanks for the report about hot air from the desert and cold desserts.

The way to tell the difference between desert and dessert is, dessert has the extra "s" because of the high sugar. If you go into the desert you get hot and sand (single "s") in the mouth instead.

Great ride today. Electric gloves worked fine in the upper 40 degree temps this morning. Coming home was even better with temps in the mid 50s. It will be a bit cooler tomorrow so I'll drive the truck.
I have some homework to do tonight, so no trains.

You'll have to get one of these driverless cars Ken, then you can keep your hands (and gloves) in your pockets, warm the hips up too.

Louis- Nice looking GG1 model. Is it supposed to be "Old Rivets" (I think that's the correct nickname)?.

You are correct sir! That is the nickname of the world's greatest locomotive!

I am basing my ranking on the cold hard fact that the only time I have succeeded in playing Railroad Tycoon was when I used only GG1s. Even a railroad novice can make a profit running only GG1s.

I think the Lionel Vision Line prototype is based on the later GG1s as I don't see any rivets.

Meh. The "Friends of Franco" are still on the list. Guess your wife didn't look old enough.

Beady I think there were questions about the Spanish Civil War of 1936, but only on forms did we see them. if I am not mistaken. My wife is even younger than me so she was certainly not old enough to have been on either side.

That was one of those conflicts that you could argue there were no "good guys".

.

Curt I knew you would like that one.

I thought it was fitting with all the crane talk we had a few days ago. I know I am a day late and a dollar short, but that is normal for me. :)

I will have to find a picture of my PRR Christmas Crane to post.

Thank you Terry, that was a great video!

No wonder they did not want to abandon the steam engine, they had operations down to a science.

Absolutely fascinating, thanks for posting that. The early version of "corporate speak" he is using in his sales pitch was very nostalgic!

I still remember from grade school, learning that stalagmites grow up from the floor of a cave while stalac"tites" stick "tight" to the ceiling. Obviously, the device worked; 60 years later it was all I could think of while touring Carlsbad Caverns.

Good late evening at 10:45 Pm from my fairly cold area. Earlier I checked the inside thermometer in the back and it read 42* so that would tend to indicate it was 32* outside with a fair amount of moisture.

I wonder what WW says? Clear 34.0 °F - feels Like 29 °F
Wind is 6.0 from the East

Pressure 30.12 in
Visibility 1.8 miles
Clouds Clear
Windchill 29 °F
Dew Point 33 °F
Humidity 98%
Rainfall 0.00 in
Snow Depth Not available.

Time to check the fire and warm up a bit. Then I'm climbing into a nice warm bed I've been preheating with the electric blanket.

Everyone ave a good day tomorrow.

32 degrees in King George, VA. Got my home work finished late last night. I have to go back down to Ft. Lee this morning for a few hours of work then back up to the office in Stafford to wrap up the day.
Dang, no time for trains yesterday.
