How about that?!?! It's nearly unanimous, the congratulations to my wife will warm her heart. I will tell her in the morning, thank you Everyone! :)

She has already gone to bed because she will be up at 3am for work. She is on salary, but she always goes the extra mile. It has not yet settled in that she is a US citizen, she still thinks she is a hard working immigrant. I doubt she will ever change. I am so proud of her.
In my last life, I was an immigration officer. Tell her for me that we don't let just anyone in. Congrats.

Chet - No, I understand completely. Right now, our situation is that we have our kids and their families all here in Springfield, including two granddaughters - and one or both families will come over Christmas eve and spend the night here. So I think for the next number of years we're going to go the whole 9 yards, putting up some lights, putting up a tree, decorating, cooking, making my annual coffee cake for Christmas breakfast, buying all kinds of Christmas goodies, and just making the place extra festive for us and the kids.
God bless.
Johnny

An outstanding plan, create more memories for the next generations!

I totally feel your pain on the lumber front! For months I bought EVERY 1x4 that did not look like a hockey stick on the north AND west sides of town! HD, Lowes, Menards, Carter, MC, one off locals, every place that sold lumber saw me prowling and growling because it was mostly junk!

Red team or green team? Or both?

Both. The Red Team / Green Team thing was caused by a lack of leadership, from the very top level of management. They allowed it to continue, because it distracted from what the senior layer of management was doing, (or not doing).

Was NCIS any good tonight? I still watch it, but have lost some interest since Ziva and Tony moved on.

Sherrel: I didn't know they were still on...they lost me several seasons ago.

Luis: Tell your wife Congratulations for me on her becoming a Citizen. My Fathers' Mother used to teach the Portuguese English so they could get their Citizenship.

Tell her congrats from Absurdistan too Louis!! I hope that when I make that "delivery" , that she's there! I want to meet the saint that puts up with ya! ;) (She deserves a medal for that alone!)
Thank you Karl and you are in luck! She starts her vacation after work this afternoon. God Bless Royal Farms for not allowing her to sell her vacation any more! That reminds me if anybody is near Pulaski Hwy and 62nd street in East Baltimore stop in and say hello to my Angel Face, Angela to everyone else.

I have to warn you Karl she will want to make you something to eat or at least drink. If you are busy you better have your reason to say no ready! :)

I have no idea why she picked me and continues to be with me, but like all my blessings I don't question them I just say thank you God!

Thank you Beady, immigration officers get a bad rap, thank you for your service to our great nation. We were always treated respectfully. Many times we were met with skepticism, but never disrespect.

The process went much easier for my children because they are children of an American citizen. They have been citizens for some time now.

It was a different story for my wife and we understand it has to be. I wish I had a dollar for every time she was asked "are you now or have you ever been a member of the communist party?" Among countless other questions, background checks and more.

Thank you David and God bless your Grand mom. The people teaching English Second Language courses have all been wonderful. Each and everyone I met was the cream of the crop, truly great people with kind and caring hearts. No wonder you are such a great person, the apple does not fall far from the tree! I can tell you that there work has meant a lot to my family.

Wow, I can't tell you ALL how much it means to my wife and I to have such warm congratulations. Thank you Everybody!

All this talk about TV shows reminds me to watch one of my favorites Gotham! Thank God for on Demand TV!

Have a great day Everybody!

KEN -- Was NCIS any good tonight? I still watch it, but have lost some interest since Ziva and Tony moved on.

NCIS wasn't on tonight. Some Christmas cartoon show was on instead.
You're right about Tony and Ziva. They did make the show.
The new team is developing their own characteristics though. They still shoot people and solve the cases.

Good Morning All. 40° and mostly clear dark skies this morning. Can't see the moon. Looking around yesterday and noted that it's time to attach the grass catcher to the tractor and mow up the leaves. Yard is brown, yellow and red all over. Cover the garden with them now and work them into the soil over the winter.
Trainwise I continued to just do odds and ends yesterday; installed a few more ground throws, added ties to the blank spaces in the flex-track joints and planted a couple of the trees that I made Monday. Put up the tree making stuff instead of making some more like I should have. Dug out the Preiser Santa and his "naughty" helper to set up in a town display, but can't decide on this years placement. Need to refresh his Christmas tree, but of course I had already put the tree stuff up, sigh!

Johnny - I know the 1" x 4" feeling. I have gone into HD before and they all looked like hockey sticks (to borrow Bruce's phrase), and other times there was a perfect bundle there. Last visit was a perfect bundle so I over-bought! Too soon for the Christmas tree here. 12/15 at the earliest. But I leave it up until Epiphany on 1/6.
Terry -
Reality is a crutch for people that can't handle drugs...
Well spoken.
Not too sure that my wife would appreciate the caboose anywhere on the property. Of course there's that spot beyond the train shed behind the pond that she can't see...but the cost of transporting it might kill the deal.
Ray - At least you get to put up outside decorations. Like Chet, I don't because no one could see them anyway.
Justin - Nice job. You're right about adding trees, don't forget a few small shrubs.
Beady - Some people just don't appreciate artful decorations! Good luck moving forward on the basement floor.
Sherrel - Is there really room for the rosin core in .03mm solder??? I guess that it's a good thing that airports didn't measure taxiing in metrics!!!!
Curt - Signal looks fine.

Everybody have a great day.

Willie

Willie, the caboose is for sale through a friend of mine and may be in the Northern Arkansas/Southern Missouri area. He does have other cabooses scattered over the country for sale.
I've often considered finding one that is in good shape, body-wise, but gutted inside, and make it a layout room.

Other than that, it's cloudy and 67. Expecting more rain and thunderstorms later today. Looks like lots of rain in the area they're having the fires. Now, they'll start having erosion and mudslides (not the ones with alcohol, either!).

Its really seeing all the fires in Gatlinburg, we were just there in April.

We need the rain in NC though, trying to grow my lawn

Good morning, 49 and rain, it was 55 and sunny yesterday but no scooting for me, had to do the run back and forth across town to get a part for this new dishwasher.(drain hose)

This "custom kitchen" business is driving me nuts! The drain hose needs to be at least 7 feet and the one that comes with it was only three feet. Must prowl places that do installs so I can find this unique hose. Found one at the "Antique" appliance place that as long enough but the ends were no good, I need good connection, I do not want puke all over the floor under the cabinets!

Good morning everyone. 31 and sunny here. Forget the mug - just fill a soup bowl with coffee!!

Terry - That caboose may be somewhere near here (southwestern MO). Going to be out of my checkbook's reach, too - but just think of the comments from neighbors. And you could put lights on it for Christmas. And best of all - any unwanted guests can sleep there (no heat, of course) :)

New Guy and Willie - "Hockey sticks"?!?! Some of the boards I picked up could have been 18 degree model rr track curves!! :) I'll have to head over to Lowes and see if they have anything usable. There are a couple of local lumber yards, but they're usually higher than the chains. There's a new Menards about a half-hour from here, and they're supposed to build one in Springfield next year. Great place.

Moved the front legs in 7 inches on one of the 8-foot long sections of benchwork last night. Making progress!

See ya later.

DSCF4385.jpgThis one is near my house, want me to see how much they want for it?
