I've been in the basement all afternoon building mountains and playing with plaster cloth!

Acquired some more land, so having new fence erected
Having new bathroom suites installed to make life easier for Dawn with her disabilities.
Whilst the work is being done we shall take our grandchildren away for the week.

good morning
its the week before my summer vacation woohoo!
- airport up and running. summer wave 1 is done so atm its not that busy at the airport
- sun is out 30 celcius today
- did some work over the weekend in the layout room. girlfriend hat visitors from finland so i had a lot of time to do stuff for my own. thats why now at my H0 layout there is a bridge woohoo! oh and something to remember: if you shake a bottle, check if its really closed! i didnt now half of my workbench looks a bit rusty haha..

Morning all,
80° and clouds to the north, where they are getting some rain. Supposed to be 102° with heat index (or feels like temp) of 110°. Way too hot fat former northern boy. Although the wife like to remind me I haven't been a northern boy for nearly 50 years. Damn, I'm old.
Server maintenance resumes for me this Saturday. So I have to work this weekend. At least I have nothing planned.

Good morning. It's overcast and 74.
The place I work has imposed a moratorium on overtime. Since I have to work this coming Saturday, I have to take today off to remain at or under 40 hours for the week. Another symptom of the recession nobody wants to admit we're in.
I guess it could be worse, I still have a full-time job--and it could be raining.

yes i had one week i think in may!? and now 2 weeks in August. I have 6 Weeks over the year, because iam old (43) haha.

A very soggy start to the day! It has been raining heavily since 3:30 this morning, when the first house shaking thunder started. According to the radar, its supposed to be moving out of here in the next hour. Looks like temps will get close to 80 today.
Other than that, not much to report in my area. which is good!

garage door torsion spring broke yesterday. I have to manually assist the door open.
A repair guy will be out this afternoon. All other door repairs will schedule me for mid August or later.

We’ve been in a recession for the last 8 years. The stock market is not indicative of a good economy. CEO’s getting a million dollar bonus or Musk getting billion dollar bonus does not mean the economy is good. The average working guy next door is indicative of how the economy is doing. 10 year loans to buy a vehicle that will last 7 years is not a good economy. I was talking to a neighbor yesterday as his kids biked over to the local McDonalds for lunch. 2 kids he gave them $40. He then starts griping how expensive McDonalds has become because the starting wage is $20. Then start barking about “those” people complaining they can’t live on that. Our local newspaper has reported that 90% of the staff at the local McDonalds, Taco Bell and Culvers get an average of 19 hours per week…

I knew I would regret the answer to that question. At the end of one year here, I will have 40 hours' vacation time accrued. my dad always says: since he retired he has NO (paid) Vacation at all (because he retired), and hes doing now the most dangerous job because no one could finish this job without dyingI have 52 weeks over the year, because I am older.
