Well, howdy there internet subjects and those wondering where the heck Troy has been.

Well, first I got up at 4a and worded about 2000 words. Most of them were good ones.

Then I went out to clean the kamado. Sometime in the last cool-down phase, the metal ring that hold all of the ceramic firebox "leaves" in place popped loose. No damage, but I took that as a sign that I should pull the five leaves out, and the lower ceramic ring in the ash area out. That way I could give the inside a wipe down with a soft brush and get all the ash and some of the soot out.

once that was back (about 10 min of work) I laid in the charcoal and smoking wood (Hickory this time) and started the fire.

After about 45 minutes, I had temp stable, and some blue smoke rolling out... So this is how my day started:

Brisket1.jpg

Had to use some wood hunks to prop up the brisket. My grill is only 18 inches diameter. And that's the Slo-Roller underneath. Helps with the smoke flavor by dispersing it more efficiently.

Went for my walk, then showered and started laundry. Made a trip to the grocery to get an anniversary card and bag of M&Ms for the wife for tomorrow. It was "Party Sized" on the M&Ms. Because we know how to party! ;)

For some reason my rewards number wouldn't work at Meijer. Either typing in my phone # or scanning the barcode. No one else was complaining. I'll have to log in via the webpage and see if there's a troubleshooting link. Of course, they couldn't do any resets about it at the store.

Came back, and this is what I was able to see. I pulled the wood chuncks out, since the meat shrinks as it cooks.

After lunch (I ate a salad, just in case you think I'm all pizza and pasta), I sat outside and argued polytics on twitters. Once the MeatR theometer read 155, I added the foil boat.

Internal is at 166° F right now. Shooting for 203, then I start the probe feel tests. Hoping the wife makes her cornbread. I may put some BBQ Baked Beans on the grill once I pull the brisket to rest.

I have a better view of your airport using your camera than I get with mine.

Morning all,

A cool 66° and clear this morning, with a high later of 86°. Far cry from the 106° we had a couple of days ago.

I guess I didn't say what I thought I said about getting Windows Pro vs Home editions. When you buy the computer new, it's often the same price or a couple of dollars more to get the machine with Win Pro preloaded than spending the $90 to upgrade. My current desktop was available with either at the the time I ordered it and there was no price difference. That said, some manufacturers only put Pro on business class machines.

Flo: Everyone's beverages are on me today. Yes even those of an adult nature. I'll settle up sometime tomorrow.

Good chilled morning from So. Central Wisconsin as I get ready to drive to Central Wi. It’s 54 now and 74 later. Being home has been great but it’s time to play some golf. It’s probably the 2nd to last tournament with my regular golf partner for this year as his hockey team returns in full to campus and practices begin August 1st. While my golf has been on and off this season he has been hot and wants us to win everything this weekend. I’ll try my best…

2.5 days home and other than checking everything was physically fine I spent maybe 10 minutes in the layout room. I do hope the missing mojo returns. It’s been missing during the last 5 weeks but I have spent 20 of those days gone. I had planned to start the structures in the new mill but it never happened. They are partially drawn up though. There is a slight chance I can get a tour of the Domtar PaperMill in Nekoosa, Wi. For almost 15 years Terry and I drove by the mill entrance on Friday nights as we headed to the casino down the road. I have a ā€œfriendā€ who is a big shot at Domtar and he mentioned it, I did not ask for it.

This is a different golf event for the group as there are no ā€œdecentā€ hotels nearby but there now is fantastic and over the top lodging onsite but not enough. I have played a lot of golf over the years down the road at 3 other super nice courses in Rome, Wi. and 2 ok courses just north in Wisconsin Rapids, but this place would never have you believe it’s the beginning of the Pinery of Central and Northern Wisconsin. The sand, is definitely a WOW factor.

Sandvalley.com

The next 3 events including this one are in Wisconsin. Next week we will be in the Kohler, Wi. area on the shores of Lake Michigan and will finish Wisconsin off at 3 wonderful courses near home with 2 in Madison including 1 a long drive and a wedge away from me and one in Oregon, Wi.

The son has been staying here along with 3 other of his pilots who are staying at the daughters. Even if they are not flying they are on stand bye for delegates at the RNC convention in Milwaukee. Listening to the guys at the dinner table last night had me telling them to combine their stories and sell the book. I have earned our money along with Terry as my partner working hard in all things besides marriage and business. I have never felt entitled. I always try to treat others as I want to be treated. I wish I could name the names but one of the guys says he wants to do an emergency barrel roll to cleanse the cabin on his next flight!

Life is good, enjoy yours

Good Morning All. Clear and a cool 71°. The cold front indeed came through yesterday, about 12 hours earlier than forecast. High yesterday was only 87°, today might be 93°. The predicted thunderstorms ahead of the front didn't materialize here, but did south and east of us. Dallas got them but Ft Worth did not. The rain in the forecast for today disappeared, but a second cold front Sunday may bring some. Winds are still out of the north and today is forecast to be the warmest of the next ten days. Interesting weather times ahead. Sadly, the garden is in shambles and it cannot benefit from this.

After dealing with a few household duties yesterday morning, I did remove one of the dead trees from the back yard. It took a while since I had to do some selective trimming of upper branches before felling the main trunk. It was located sort of between the house and the pool, and had to land between three other 5 year old saplings without crushing them. Couldn't drop it in the other direction because it would have landed on top of several stacks of curing firewood and another tree that was downed in the tornado. I was mostly successful, just barely grazing one of the saplings. I now need to find a new location for one of the Hummingbird feeders. Still have some of the trunk to cut up, but I reached my "one tankful of chain oil" limit. I did stop in the midst of the project to jump into the pool around 11:00.

Today must be the weekly grocery trek into the big city. The fridge is more empty than I have seen in a while. I have no other stops on my list, so we'll see what my wife wants/needs. The sales circular is depressing this week, there's nothing that I need in it. Same with the digital coupons.

OK, I always have admitted that I am somewhat challenged with cell phones. I cleared most apps off my new Samsung S-24 (Amazon, Tik-Tok, etc.) when I first got it. One that I kept was Voicemail, but in 8 weeks, I have not gotten one at all. Then I got two on Monday that I didn't see until yesterday. Much to my surprise, was the fact that they weren't only just recorded messages, but the phone using AI or something, also had the text of the voicemails! This is quite handy to someone like me who normally just hears garbled voices when listening to voicemails; and who in the past had to get my wife to listen to them with me. I hear these same garbled voices on the speakers at drive-thru's as well; which is why I always go inside.

Due to the wonderful outdoor weather yesterday, I didn't spend much time out in the train shed. I only ran trains back and forth through the recently reworked switches to ensure that they worked with everything. I did briefly examine that third Blue Box tanker and discovered some possible rodent damage on one corner. More on that later.
Meanwhile from the archives, a few pictures from an automated and animated layout that I have seen a few times on the train show home layout tour.

David - Your British railcars just look so quaint to me as an American who did all of my railfanning with the large freight cars and engines in the West. I love seeing them along with your detailed scenery.
Chris - I'm not needing the erotic shop. I actually have one in the works, but I'm not ready to put it out to you guys yet. Not as detailed as the one that you posted though.
Patrick - Thanks for the drinks, I'll be back later for the adult ones.
Tom O - Is the circus in Milwaukee affecting you at all? Or are you too far away? I'm not too sure that the other side has a clue yet?

Everyone have a really great Thursday.
