Morning all,

A little off and on thundershowers this morning and the temp is still 80°. With the humidity, feels like 90°. Temp later at 94° later with the feels like at 105°. Still cooler than yesterday's 106° and feels like of 114°.

Got sidetracked early when this popped up in one of my feeds:

Pretty interesting I thought.

Good morning everyone!

Its so great to get away, but there's nothing like being home!

Last night was a stormy wild ride. We had at least 2 rounds of pretty intense storms roll through the area between 9 and 1am. Looks like its all moved out of the are now.

Went out and looked at the pool this morning and we must have had a few pretty good rains while we were gone. I am way overfull. The level is over the top of the skimmer. Going to have to let about 3" of water out later to bring the level down some.

Lots of laundry and store today, as we let everything run down before we left.

Have a safe day all!

@TLOC those fires where they the one where a whole city and everything burned down?
Do you know the youtuber "Peter Sentenello"? I think he visited the place and was talking to locals and everything.

maybe stupid question but are you Hawaiian?

a friend of mine was there this year for 8 weeks. i saw some awesome pictures :)

Good afternoon all. Back from seeing 'PREXIT the Musical'. Yes that is correct, Prexit. Oldest grandson is leaving Primary school and going to an Academy School next term. His class put on an hour long musical on them leaving. Dawn and I went to see it. Not a dry eye in the school/house.

Todays request for dinner with our grandson; A Full English. Dawn has bought enough food to feed an army. I'll leave some in the Diner for Flo to warm up for anyone. English bacon, mushrooms, sausage, English baked beans, eggs, black pudding and anything else I can 'throw in the frying pan'.

costco run successful. The only thing on the list they didn't have were macadamia nuts

Good morning, all! Hot and humid, Houston. Seeing weather reports from around the country, getting 90 deg. plus temps and high humidity, welcome to Houston all summer long. Read this morning that 130,000 are still without power. When you consider that at one point nearly 2 1/2 million were out, seems like an accomplishment. Unless you are 1 of the 130,000 going into day 9 without power.
The State is getting into the fray with the governor calling for investigations into the power company's response to the storm. Seems they failed to pre-set they repair crews prior to the storm, did ask for sufficient out-of-town repair crew, and why they spend less on tree and shrubbery removal around power lines than another utility company. Lt. governor has said he would block any attempt by the power company to raise rates to pay for the storm repairs. That I got to see.
I got the backyard cleaned up and the next-door neighbor came over and cut down the falling tree. He'll use it for firewood. All the neighbors have piles in limbs and branches in their front yard awaiting the city to pick up.
I did run some trains, had a mini operating session, switching a few industries. Drug/dragged the track cleaning car around for a few loops.

Throwing down a pic or 2. (Anyone heard from Guy? Maybe CP police caught him on railroad property🧑‍✈️🧑‍✈️🧑‍✈️)

Jay, yes Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii was basically wiped out in the a summer of 2023 from uncontrolled wildfires that claimed around 100 lives (Still a disputed number)

Nope, neither Terry nor I are Hawaiian. My brother is a full time resident there and Terry has to limit herself to under 200 days a year. The condo is on the southwest side of the island.

I grew up in the Chicago, Il. suburbs and Terry grew up in the inner city of Racine, Wi. We met while in college in Milwaukee, Wi. For me it was love at 1st sight, Terry says it was just lust…

I only watch train and modeling content on YouTube. So I am unaware of the content provider you mentioned

I post very few of the hundreds of pictures I have from Maui. IMOO it is one of the most beautiful places on earth if you like ocean views and some mountains (dormant volcanoes). Saying that if you are not a foodie or a golfer Maui can become boring after a couple weeks. Maui is lush most of the year but has been experiencing a drought the past few years. It is one of the reasons the wildfires were so quick moving and devastating

The pictures above I believe I have posted on the forum previously

Hughie - Really nice photos that you dropped down. - Nope, no CN/CP police. They can't bother what is unobtrusive and they can't see. They can't bother what means no harm.
I'm still taking photos, but, mostly just of the older units like SD-40w's that still come into town. Infrequently, though. Here's one:

Lately, I've been busy renovating our home, working with trail cams, and trying to dodge the heat dome. It's 30c here; unbearable.

This is what I'm after with my trail cams, this photo taken a couple of weeks ago:

I'm still alive and hanging around. Just not spending lots of time on the PC anymore, and not working with trains over the summer. To much of real life in the way.

I'll likely be more active come the winter. See ya all then!

Nice skulk you caught there. Is your trail cam photo only or can you get some video?

Hi, Hughie.
I have two trail cams set out in the wilderness. Both the same make/model. Each will take photo or video, but I need pre-select what I want. I'm a photo guy, so that's what I select.
Soon, I might try a few videos. But, I'm not big on trail cams due to the crappy photos they produce. They'll tell you what's there and when, but in low resolution. Night photos are the worst.
It would probably make a difference if I spent more than cheap on a trail camera.

With the bountiful berry crop this year, I'm hoping I'll catch a few grizzlies.

Have a great evening.

Guy: Great photo of the Fox Family...

Hot today. 99°, (Officially at the Manesquan River Reservoir). It was 101° at one point on the front porch. Threat of thunderstorms after midnight.

Township's contractor milled the street today, prepping to pave the street tomorrow, while they mill another section. The milling machine removed several inches of black top which was taken to Stavola's for recycling. Stavola Brothers was one of my customers when I was with Conrail. The Conveyor / Dump train served their facilities.

What is the difference between Windows 11 Pro, vs, Windows Home?

$100

(upgrade price from Home to pro)
Ha! In this case, it came with the lap top. I would have cost me $50 to downgrade.
Pro allows you to choose update timing, enables remote desktop, and allows you access to a few more features than are available with the home version. It also has Bitlocker, which is becoming available and enabled on the home versions, now, as well.
Thanks Terry... Can you think of anything else?
