Good morning all. A cloudy day with showers.
A coffee please, Flo.

Yesterday was a good day meeting family from near and far. . Daughter & SiL provided the BBQ. We all brought food and drink.
Then back home. Some watched the soccer final; we watched 'Titanic'. It still hit the iceberg???

Whilst Jay is shooting some aircraft, here is an 'oldie'.

A picture 'doing the rounds' here in the U.K.. Little is known about it, but a 'good guess' it is in a Glasgow shipyard. Plenty of guesses on the load?

Another old B&W picture. Great Western Railways way of keeping out the rain. I bet it was stifling hot underneath.

Good morning gang!

FLO, Can I get a southwestern omelet and a large coffee!

After cutting the grass in the OMG heat yesterday, Nascar took precedence over the trains yesterday afternoon. Since Harvick retired I have been without a favorite driver or team. I've kinda settled on rooting for anyone, as long as its not Denny Hamlin or Kyle Busch.

With baseball, I root for the Orioles and anyone playing the Yankees.

With football, I root for the Ravens, and anyone playing the Dallas plowboys.

BBL, boss wants me to work, imagine the nerve of that guy!! 😜🤪

Good Morning All. Clear and 77°, Mother Nature forgot to cool off overnight. We still haven't hit the elusive 100° mark, although the forecast is for higher than that today. Weather geeks still are predicting thunderstorms for Thursday, and now Sunday instead of Saturday. We shall see.

Special day for me today, 9 years ago on July 15, 2015, was my last official day at work. I got tired of commuting 50 miles each way and for the previous 18 months I had no duties or responsibilities any more; just a paycheck. They were about to move the whole company into a new location 11 miles away, so It was time to hang it up. A few months prior, the HR manager accidentally let it slip that management was told by the company owners that they couldn't terminate me because I was the longest-tenured employee on the payroll nationwide. But I was bored by then.

Nothing new on the estate yesterday, I cut more firewood but it's still laying on the ground since I hadn't emptied the cart from the day before. I need to figure out where I want to stack all of the new stuff for drying; I hadn't planned on this windfall. It needs to be convenient to the house, but all of those places are already occupied with the supply for the '24-'25 season. I also need to consider that my wife occasionally brings some in.
Looks like the barn swallows over my front porch are ready to leave their nest.

There's just three of them in there, but it looks crowded.

Update on the neighbor Bubba. He hopes to move the donated double-wide trailer (the one that another neighbor's insurance company totaled out), onto his property on Tuesday. It only has to go 1/4 mile. I had already given him permission to move it across my property, that way the moving folks don't have to get and pay for a permit to move it on public roads; even though that route is only about a half mile.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I did a couple of things. I made and installed some signs for the recent scene. Here's a pair.

No Parking across the alley. I made a few more for another place but haven't installed them yet.
But I spent a lot more time tweaking 6 switches. When the ceiling leaked, it dissolved a lot of scenery glue, especially in the ballast. It pooled and dried under the turnout mechanisms and they were all stuck in whatever positions they were in. I had to carefully free each one up and in some cases remove ballast that had also moved. while I was at each one, I added a drop of light lubricating oil to each, since some were harder to operate. I now need to look at the other 110 ground throws to check them out!

Louis - Kinda un-American to not like Mac & Cheese. I love homemade but reduced my intake to just 3-4 times a year due to carb counting. I get too many carbs from Italian food! I can handle the boxed stuff but choose not to any more, too many added shit!
Karl - Red or white sauce is fine for pasta from my point of view. I am not a real fan of white pizza but I will eat it.
Terry - So moving did have more than one advantage!
Chad - Good to read that you recovered from the wind event at the new home. I am wondering how long it will take to recover from our tornado from May. It won't take me as long as the neighbors who lost their whole house.

Everybody have a wonderful Monday. Sorry if you have to return to work; I've loved every minute of retirement.

Good morning from New Orleans heading home. This is a refueling stop and a pick up of 2 business friends of the brother. NO is in the same time zone as home in Wisconsin but what really helps is I slept about 30 minutes out from Maui to landing outside Mexico City. I’m waiting for breakfast here at the airport as we will take off in about 90 minutes.

I enjoyed my 6 days on Maui probably the most since we first started coming here. Close to the brother but far enough away not making him feel like he is hosting or having to entertain. Having our own vehicle was great and much more down to earth than borrowing a vehicle from him. Terry purchased a new 2023 Jeep Wrangler and while I am not a fan of jeeps it is transportation and there is a service center for Jeeps on Maui. There is a SUV being looked at but there isn’t much inventory on the islands and neither of us are sure it’s needed. Golfed 3 times while there which maybe one more time than I wanted. But without my trains and reduced internet time it was ok.

Terry and I have discussed my coming to Maui more often for years. I still do not feel there is enough for me to do. Even less now owning a new condo than a house and property. I can have 2 stalls in the garage for the trains and my shop. The HOA while needing to approve outside changes has no say about the inside. Lots for me to think about!

Enjoy the day

That's because they are incompatible. Polish sausage (Kielbasa), is made to be served with sauerkraut and Pirogi. Italian Sausage is made to be served with macaroni and sauce, or on an Italian roll with peppers, onions and fried potatoes. The sausage is not the same.
I like polish sausage in spaghetti sauce, and I don't like Italian sausage.

I'm not compatible either. I have no idea how my wife puts up with me. I used to be good looking, now all I have is a handsome face. 😁 My body looks like a semi-deflated blowup doll. It must be true love because I don't have much going for me.

Good Morning All! and Happy Monday - well maybe NOT happy for those that make it to the salt mine.
60F @ 55% yet another 100F+ day ... yuk

Get to start on the gray water system on the kitchen side of the house. For those that do not remember, the line *used* to go to a rock built septic about 30Ft from the exterior wall. That had deteriorated into nothing and water was dumping at the exterior wall. As a 'quick' fix, I ran a line in the basement to the other side of the house then into the big septic. Ya, not enough drop in the line so it would overflow on the kitchen floor if too much was put down the drain. New is one of those steel wire enclosed 4x4x4' plastic tanks ( usually DEF or other nefarious stuff in them ) and 2 holey pipe drain field. Wife will be happy as she ( we ) now will be able to just drain the sink instead of having to clean the drain screen all of the time. Still no paint, solvents, wallboard mud ... etc in the drain though. Think the thing is 350 gallons so it will probably take the rest of the summer to get filled up and the biological critters start doing what they do. Yogurt is the first thing down the drain!

Pain makes you stronger
Tears make you braver
Heartache makes you wiser
Beer helps you not not feel any of that crap.

Yeah you guys had it 100x worse. I'm not complaining compared to people who have real disasters vs minor setbacks (in the big picture -- right now its major to me)

We're not recovered yet but did get the panels cleaned up. I'm headed up there this morning after I take my daughter to work and start untangling the tubing and then to try and put the panels back down and eventually the tubing. As quickly as possible as the concrete company is waiting to pour.

Would it help or hurt to give you another name?
AJ Allmendinger. During the off-season between the time he left Indycar for Nascar, I had five last lap battles with him (online of course, in Nascar 4. N4 was the code base for todays iRacing).
I won four of the five.
Never a single word from him. The usual expectation was at least something as simple as "' 'grats."
Oddly enough I do keep tabs on him, now and then. If only to pat myself on the back with a "I kicked his ass" kinda thing.
Go figure.

Afternoon all,

2.5 hours to review and deal with 782 emails in my absence. Been busy catching up on other things that needed doing, so this is my first chance here today.

Supposed to get to 105° in a while with heat index to 110° to 113°, then mid-90's tomorrow and mid 80's on Wednesday. We'll see how that changes.

Kind of nice to be back.
