Good Morning All. Cloudy and UGGGH, 84°. Big changes in our forecast today. "Cold front" coming through around midnight tonight and temperatures no higher than 92° for the next ten days. Scattered rain today, may have something to do with the drops out on the porch, and in the forecast for 8 of the next 10 days! And yes! We finally hit the magic 100° mark for a brief period of time yesterday. First time this year!
Doctor visit yesterday morning was uneventful. I did find out why the doctor had to give the steroid shot instead of the nurse practitioner, something to do with a state law regarding the fact that steroids are prescription injections. I cannot believe the audience that I had in that tiny exam room, the doctor, the nurse practitioner, two medical school interns observing, and the largest nurse that I have ever seen. All there to look at my bare bottom!
This morning's plan is to remove a dead tree, which was partially destroyed by the tornado. I have finally cleared out around it and it's time for it to go. I have to be careful with this one, as it's partly between the house and the pool.
The neighborhood was alive with activity yesterday, starting before I left for the doc. As I posted a few days ago, there were plans to move neighbor Delang's double wide that the insurance company totaled out; over the field to Bubba's property to replace his single wide. The crew doing the work broke down right in front of my dumpster on their way up to move Bubba's old trailer out of the way. I was able to exit because I have a circular drive with two exits. When I left, they were pouring coolant into the radiator of the truck. They weren't going to use the truck for the move, but it was towing the trailer with the specialized Caterpillar machine that they use. When I got home, they had moved the old trailer out of the way and set it "out back"; and had almost had the first half of the new one in place. Something new for me to look at from the entrance to the train shed.

I didn't use to be able to see it because trees are in the way.
I waited until about 2:00 before I went up to bother them. Bubba had a good crew assembled, him, his dad who is still a licensed electrician for that work, his best buddy Ray who is a licensed plumber and his SIL Lee who was the "gofer". The moving crew consisted of four workers, of which only one spoke English. But Bubba made a
BIG mistake! He opened the beer cooler around 11:00 while the crew was leveling the first half. Things went downhill from there. Imagine if you can, four Mexican workers and three Anglos (dad doesn't drink any more) enjoying unlimited beer on a hot 100° day! The other hall was still up at the old location when I got out of the pool at 5:45.

I see this morning that it had moved but I don't know if it is correctly in place and attached yet. They also chose not to cross my land, instead crossing dad's land instead. Both of our properties border both of the other two, but crossing mine would only require removing part of one fence, whereas the route that they took required removing parts of three fences.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I switched directions for a day. I have some older Athearn Blue Box Propane tankers that I wanted improve. So I cleaned them up a bit , added hazardous placards and applied weathering powders to them. Some time in the past, I had installed metal wheels on them, so I used the truck tuner just in case I hadn't done that at the time. It appears that I had, but there's a gap in my maintenance records so I wasn't sure.

The NATX one got light weathering.

The UP one got heavier weathering.

It's crude, but a start. I don't get into weathering as much as the guys over in the weathering thread get.
I have two more to do,, but only one will get done at this time. Today I will look at a few more switches and probably run trains for hours to test the ones that I did over the weekend.
Tom O - Quite a tale from Maui. I have been reading that the natives and part-timers haven't been seeing eye to eye. People there need to be careful regarding the goose laying the golden eggs. Some of the part-timers need to be more respectful.
Guy - Good to see you back with the trailcam pictures. Looking forward to the grizzlies.
This one's for
Louis; today is National Hot Dog Day. I use Mustard, relish and cheese, sometimes also with onions.
Everybody have a great day.
