The days running is over (for now)
Ran to "the mechanics" shop, the to visit with son #1, then haircut and HD. I feel like I spent hours on the road. My C&O 2-6-6-2 is back home . When I got her, it was an ebay find, not running, ie cheap. Put it on the rails and nothing but a short circuit. Found that easy enough as the rear tender truck had been installed backward. Easy fix, NOT! After the "fix" the headlight worked but that was it. The motor hummed like it was trying but no movement. I was assuming the worse, that it would need remotoring and new gear boxes. Plus the previous owner had added a ton of lead to it. My fried gave her a major weight reduction, 2 new Boo Rim gearboxes, new Canon motor, marker light housings and a boiler backhead, plus removed all the poor paint job. Back to bare brass, but I can fix that! She runs great on DC for now.
Next time you will see her, she'll have DCC, sound and paint, probably as WMSR 1309 or C&O 1309. I'm not sure which.
Also home are 2 Western Maryland H-9 Consolidations with new motor and gear boxes, they also need paint. They will join the other 3 Consols waiting for paint.
But 1st, I've got a bunch of wiring to do on the layout, I hope to get some of that done tomorrow while the Nascar race is on.
There are several Culvers near me in Florida.
Can you send one up Rt 95 to here? It sounds good, all we have up here is Mickey D's, BK, Roy Rogers, Taco Hell, DQ, Wendy's and Sonic. Boooooring!!
