Good Morning All, with a still warmish 77° and partly cloudy skies. Not supposed to get above 99° today, if the NWS is to be believed. High yesterday was only 102° under cloudy skies most of the day. 5° below the forecast high of 107°. It actually did rain very briefly here, but I didn't detect anything in the rain gauge, probably because it evaporated as soon as it hit the hot container. Weather Underground around the corner says 0.02", not even enough to splash any grime off the car!
An uneventful visit to the gastroenterologist yesterday, which is a good thing. But it was nothing but Q&A. Only doctor that I see that doesn't do the whole weigh-in, BP check and body temperature thing when you first walk in. He expects me to live with the next appointment in a year.
Later after getting home, I spent around 20 minutes stacking firewood for this winter.
No real plans for today. I have to figure out the supper thingy soon if I am going to take meat out to thaw. There is more firewood waiting to be stacked, so that will probably get a short workout.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I envisioned what I am going to do with the latest project area. While I haven't decided what type of industry the spur will serve, I did start with the DPM modular walls that I intend to use for it. Since the spur itself is big enough for two 50' boxcars, it will have to be a longish structure. I did start by cutting and trimming 7 ground floor wall sections. I'll be adding 2-story walls above that to make a final 3 story structure. Got to be big enough to justify two boxcars! I also rounded up the backdrop and ground paint, but didn't start that yet. The total project area is 24"-26" deep and 43" in length. The front 8"-10" from the fascia inward is 95% landscaped already and there is a main line and passing siding running through. I have pictures, but left the camera out there,, and I don't feel like making that trek right now.
Tom O - Good news about the hip. May your recovery continue.
I agree with your friend John that there are no budgets in model railroading, but I still tend to be frugal...
Kevin - Western Sizzlin Steakhouse, wow, that's a name from the past. Didn't think that they still existed!
Mikey - Good to read that your recovery is continuing as well. Slow progress is much better than no progress.
Karl - Also to you, best wishes on your recovery. I have two doctors who have advised me to wear compression socks. Problem is that I don't wear socks at all! Lazy maybe? I can usually count the number of days a year on one hand only.
Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday. Keeping my fingers crossed for the forum today.
