Todd, do you know where the Foss River bridge is? Google Earth has nothing good to look at

A few hours later, my caccio e pepe has dried up. I guess the pasta sucked all the water out, which is fine since I am using it as a topping for my salad. I just shake up the tupperware, they all separate, and I just shake a few onto the salad.

I'm the only one who eats this stuff, so I didn't make too much.

Tom: The pix you showed is pretty much what you get. Foss River Road is just out of Sky on US2 east bound before Tye River. This is one that you have to go and see as none of the Google/Bing camera cars have been that way. Besides, you have to walk on the side of the RoW for a bit to see anything. I was back in there many moons ago, but don't think I got/have any pix. It is quite the RR climb for Sky up to West Scenic; 2.2% ifn I remember correctly. Same 2.2% going down from the East Portal to Leavenworth.

Not much going on today.

I'm started increasing the complexity of some of my stretches, trying to work some nerve glides in. So the Sciatic nerve is grumpy. Will probably spend most of today on the couch.

No idea what the wife wants for lunch. Probably pasta. I'd prefer a steak somewhere. We'll see who wins.
 
Good Morning All. Clear and 79°. High today is forecast to be 107° once again, although it only reached 102° yesterday...and then only briefly.

Yesterday was mostly a bust. Had some friends stop by in the morning and did laundry after lunch/nap. Good to see Bob and Gayla, we met in college over 50 years ago. Bob recently retired from the Post Office after a 45 year career. We reminisced about the day a little over 40 years ago that he quit drinking. We were sitting on his front porch drinking beer with a few other friends, when a skunk wandered nearby. Bob went in and got his shotgun and took care of it with one shot. Unfortunately he also peppered holes in the whole side of his wife's brand new 2-week old Oldsmobile behind the skunk! Funny now, but tragic back then. Well, it was funny back then to the rest of us!
Nothing special planned for today except for the usual church visit.

I didn't get to spend much time out in the train shed yesterday. Did spend a bit of time in the morning showing off to our visitors, but the regular afternoon session was just returning trains to staging. Supper prep and the pool took longer than usual.

It was good to see Justin here yesterday. Maybe he'll drop in more often now.
Kevin - Congratulations on the very successful day at the train show. Bringing home extra $$$ helps as well.
Joe - We have made Tomato Pizzas a few times here. Circular though.

Today's musical birthdays include the late Keith Moon, drummer for The Who, born in 1946. The Who never really recovered their vibrancy after his passing in my opinion. Guitar shredder Gary Hoey is 66 today. There's others, but they're people that I don't listen to.

65°F/63°F out there right now at 0745. Unseasonably cool for late August here. I love it!

This is the pick day of the week according to the Talking Heads and their Magic 8-Ball. The rest of the week is going to be pretty nice too, but increasing dewpoint as the end of the week approaches.

Nothing going on here today except for some beer drinking and bar-b-q eating later after lunch. High is only supposed to be 82°F today. It might not make that with clouds moving in later.

Good morning! Slept from around 2:15 to 7:35 so I should be ok. I just can’t seem to sleep at the normal midnight time!

It’s 60f degrees outside, 76 inside. High is being guessed at as 77. Not much of a chance for rain

The boys want a road trip in a text conversation starting at 11 last night and went to it looks like 3am. Then began again at 6:30 this morning! My phone is set to go private from midnight to 6am so I miss all the notification dings my phone makes. The Friday work crew of which there are 5 regulars and 2 others that come every other week decided heading to Washington via the Empire Builder would be great fun in order to understand the scenery to be build for one of the Friday layouts. It’s a hard pass for me. 3 of the guys are widowers so for them travel is no issue

Thanks for the info. Gemini was actually right then about tough access. I see the pick up in the photo to the lower right of the bridge but couldn’t tell if that is public access or not. I ordered a kit of the Micro Engineering

Tall Steel Viaduct Tower -- Kit - Two 3-Story Bents - 4-1/2 x 4-1/2 x 10" 11.4 x 11.4 x 25.4cm to see how tough it is to build. I’m not committing to building the Foss River Bridge but it would be an interesting project​


I need to talk myself out of this project but I do like a challenge
 
Good morning all!

Another picture perfect weather day today. Currently its 67F with an expected high of 77F. Under mostly sunny skies. Humidity and
dew points are low.

Not much planned for today. I am going to continue some leftover yard clean up from yesterday. I have a couple of evergreens that need to
be trimmed up. Shouldn't take too long to trim rake and bag the clippings. I will run them to the city burn pit tomorrow.

I slept just OK last night. I thought I'd put a box fan in the bedroom window for some cool air last night.

Big mistake. The dewpoint was not low enough to keep the sheets dry, so sleep last night was sort of a damp semi-uncomfortable endevour. I sort of got ahead of myself with how nice it was supposed to be, and not yet was. I woke up briefly at 0100 and again at 0410.

Surprisingly though, I felt rested and the coffee helps too.

Yes I did .

After going to the drug store and taking her car and the gas can to the filling station ( I was riding shotgun), the wife jumped on the tractor and started mowing the backyard. Then I go yelled at!! I go caught with the weed eater in hand, trimming the front garden and around the trees. I got yelled at bad! Wifey told me to go sit while son #4 did the trimming. My hand was slapped! Come to find out her biggest fear was due to me wearing shorts, and not protecting the leg with jeans. Jeepers!
