The Golden Coral that used to be here in our city was gross. It went out of business years ago. Conversely, we used to go to one in Orlando when we were there that was nice.
We have a regional buffet place here called Chuck-a-rama and it is way better than GC. Between it being gross and having to compete with C-a-R I think it explains why our local one went out.
There used to be a Fuddruckers down in Orem. I don't know when they went out of business but it was in the late 90s that I was last there. I worked in Orem 97-98 and we did lunch there once or twice. (I then moved to NH for 5 years and when I moved back to Utah I didn't work or live near Orem so didn't have many chances to see it)
I've been to a few of them. Never gross... low class would be how I would describe them. My ex-mother-in-law loved to eat there. She was wonderful and always was good to me, even after the divorce. I was happy to take her there. If all else failed I could always eat fried foods. I'm not at all fussy about food, but gross is one step beyond where I would go for food.
I was surprised today; Golden Coral has really stepped up their game. I would not have gone if my grandson hadn't asked me to go. I'm glad I went, even my wife said the food was excellent.

Had train time yesterday and forgot to post what I was working on:
Not finished yet as I still have to glue the tank to the base and configure a lid. Not sure I yet have the rest of the desired look I want.
I got a 9"x 7" bamboo cutting board when our communications department cleared out some samples. I think it makes good surface to cut the lightweight parts on.

This one was gross. Not saying all GC was gross. Like I said we liked the one in Orlando.
Luckily we have Chuck-a-Rama for whenever the buffet bug hits. It's better run and the food is a step above GC. GC food was kind of lowest common denominator food in general at the ones I've been to. Not gross, but edible, but you need to have the buffet bug to go there. But our local one was gross, which is why it's no longer there.
It all comes down to who is running the joint. I can certainly believe there are many gross places.
My grandsons and I went into a McDonald's years ago. It was infested with dozens of flies, nothing for us, thank you, it's time to leave. We still won't go there. We call it the fly McDonald's; most McDonald's are clean if nothing else.
They used to have Ponderosa over here on the east coast but all the ones here in Western Pennsylvania closed. Golden Corral is gone too along with a lot of our sitdown Pizza Huts. Too many neurotics and hypochondriacs scared to leave their houses anymore.
Fuddruckers, never have I been in one. I know when we lived 140 miles north of our current place Wausau, Wi. had 1. When Terry and I noticed it we said we’d try it next time we were in that part of town. When we stopped a couple months later it was gone. Barely lasted over a year. The last of the 4 Fuddruckers in Wisconsin per Wikipedia closed in 2019 in Milwaukee
Burgers are a joy to eat but some places just can’t make a decent burger. While I like me a good double butter burger from Culver’s I’d rather have either their pot roast sandwich or shockingly great Fried Shrimp basket. Over all while I think 5 guys makes a great burger and superior fries the pricing doesn’t justify ordering one! Outside of making them fresh at home I find if I need a burger in our area the places around the University of Wisconsin Madison campus are where the great ones are at. The best awarded hamburgers seem to be around campus.
I've never been to most of the places you guys are talking about and probably never will. But, I've heard about them while watching hellthyjunkfood in their earlier segments. They used to do reviews and tried making some at home. Used to be interesting but went down a path that was not interesting to me so I stopped a few years ago.
While looking for one of those older episodes just now, I just found out that they split and one is suing the other of all things. So, nothing much to show for it now unfortunately.
Good afternoon from Vancouver BC Canada. The whale watching tour was much better than I was expecting and absolutely worthy of the cost. The plan was Orchas, grays and possibly humpbacks. The crew was very surprised we saw zero Orchas or Grays as the earlier boat they took out saw many. We did see a pod of 2 adult humpback females and babies. We saw 5 males separately in 3 locations for a total of 9 in 4.25 hours. The crew claimed that the humpback males rarely travel together but if are friends will be close together and that’s what they thoughts our 5 males were doing.
The water in the Straight of Georgia was fairly calm, as was the wind at 6mph but for 90% of the time it was overcast and gloomy looking.
My own pictures were mostly just misses or the blowing that was captured but in the picture it’s not recognizable. But, the cruise’s 1st mate also doubled as the photographer and I included some here. We saw a few seals on Whit Island and he captured some great pictures of a mated pair of bald eagles.
Welcome aboard! I'm sure you have a good feel for the openness that goes on here. Anything and everything from sharing info, showing off strutting sharing progress, teaching, learning mostly for me, from brisket, to burgers, to layouts, to models, to colonoscopies, to cat pee.
A few more pictures, no giant leaps, lots of blowing which basically alerted the crew and eagle eyed passengers where to look.
We had a great time. The 1st mate had a camera lens assembly that had to be at least 3’ long and a good 1/2 longer than the camera our section level host was using

This is my latest in the experimental line of songs from KAORI, my AI band. Stories from Dreams.
Don't forget to like and subscribe to get the newer releases. The experimental line are songs I like and may go back and refine and put on a later "album".
You can get to my other songs on the channel. There have been several since the last time I posted one here. I only stick a post here every so often to not bore or bother you guys too much.
Good evening all, another cooker here today and tomorrow promises to be as bad. Anyway, went into the gunstore today and spent almost 3 hours working on a customer's AR, straightening out his "improvements". Decided on the 10/22, it's a second year model with a serial number of 12xxx and in really nice shape. Gotta get up and see if a donor locomotive that arrived today will fit under a brass CB&Q shell. Crossytour fingers for me.
