Good Morning All. Clear and a warmish 76°, might hit 97° today just like yesterday. The ever present heat advisory is still in effect. Summer is winding down though, as the highs for most of the next 10 days are only going to be in the mid-90's. No chances for snow!

As I read posts from the last few days, I am amazed at the soft drink consumption of some. At best I drink a 12-pack of Sugar-Free A&W Root Beer a week. Though I do fill in with regular beer later in the day. I grew up in a household where we didn't drink soft drinks and I never really got into them until I retired 10 years ago. I don't remember what we called them before moving to Texas in 1961, but once here everything is called coke regardless of what it really is. I for some reason, always referred to them as soft drinks instead of pop, soda or cola. Overall, I try to drink 110 oz of fluids a day, of which about 60 oz is ice cold tap water from my jug in the fridge.
It is highly unlikely I average more than one carbonated drink a year. I drink mostly water with sugar free lemonade coming in second. My favorite is strawberry lemonade with some lime juice added.

Good Morning All!
64F @ 64% partly.

So, went to Kal yesterday to hit Lowes for rebar screen and stand-offs. Figured I would get 2 more 2" blue board too. Ya, you guessed it no stand-offs ( towers ), and no 2" blue board. They did have 2" red/pink stuff @ $60 each, but it was not your normal blue board stuff. They did have 2" white styrofoam stuff, nope on that too. Then it dawned on us, after looking at the screen we magically remembered that we have many unused cattle panel sections, and the Train Cave has 4 1" blue boards. So forget the screen and blue board. Went to HD, no stand-offs there either. Had to order which should bring them in 6 or 7 days. 90 mile ( one way ) trip for nothing. Well, we did stop at the China buffet place for lunch and it did get our butt's outa the house.

A good friend died Thursday night so we figured we would go and find his SO Sally and give her hugs. He had what the Doc's called a flat heart. No fixing it, no transplant available. We still are not clear on the why of the transplant part. He quit going to the hospital(s) and the Doc told him to go do what ever he wished. He did just that for the last year or so. Hunt, fish, shoot ... etc. Sally found him sitting on the throne and thought he was asleep and tried to wake him. Nope. I did get to talk with him earlier on Thursday, so that kinda was a good thing and we all just love that he was not tied to some bed somewhere. RiP James!

Friday was also the start of the Igniter weekend. Cruise last night, Car show today, Judging Sunday. I walked over to main street ( Mineral ) and got a couple of crappy cell phone shots. Not many people before the thing was supposed to start. All the bars were packed early. We went home about 1900 so no clue about the rest of the night. The cruise used to be a blast as everyone could burn-out at the intersections - no launching into 2nd though. Mineral is closed until late Sunday, and the Igniter club handles the insurance. Insurance got prohibitive so no more burn outs. It was an accident waiting for a time anyway. I probably will go down early tomorra for some close up pix with real camera and buy a shirt also.

Anyway, these could give ya an idea.

Typically the red/pink is just a different brand of the same sort of foam as the blue. I’ve never seen much difference. It’s possible there is a slight density difference but I’ve never noticed it.

We used to use it to make cores for glider wings that we’d vacuum bag with glass fiber cloth and epoxy.

Bill, for what it's worth, the only time I drink a coke is when there is no alternative. Just not my cup of tea. Speaking of which Unsweetened iced tea, is my alternative to black coffee.

Happy Saturday to all on the forum......................

Another drafting project to get done before Monday so no train room time.

A trip to the dermatologist last Thursday in Abilene Texas, about a 95 mile trip one way. Doc froze some skin tags and said all my "spots" of interest/concern were just sun damage and nothing to worry about. He said come back in 6 months for another visit.

I'm late for a nap now................😴😴😴😴

Everyone have a great weekend..............John

Afternoon all,

Got the yard mowed and even got to the son's yard while we had the labor. They then helped their parents doing their yard. Grandaughter broke my big riding mower. Cost me a whole 10 minutes actual time, but a couple of hours of time on the battery charger. Battery usually lasts about 5-6 mows before needing recharged. I had expected it not to start this morning. This battery is a couple years old, but always seems to take the charge. I avoid getting the battery from Walmart as they don't have any warranty.

Did some work on the little water tower as well, but waiting for glue to dry.

Welp... I hit a snag with my plan for world domination.

Actually, the Helix move

IF I put it where I just suggested in the earlier post, then I have to build it sooner, as part of the upper deck build. And I want to make sure my track laying and other technical techniques are up to snuff before I do something as unforgiving as a helix build. So, we're back to the old position unless I change my mind mid-build on the upper deck.

Well farmers almanac says wet cold and white winter this year here's to hoping its true. anyway happy Saturday folks hit a snag in my layout plans so now I have to rethink everything. I will sit and stew over some twix donut shop k cup coffee some french vanilla creamer and some Sugar. all while jamming to Ozzy and early 2000s heavy metal.

Guessing you never watched Crocodile Dundee.
Nope I don't watch a lot of movies. with my attention span its hard for me to sit still that long. other than Tom Hanks movies or war movies for what ever reason I can sit through those fine lmao

like I've never seen Spaceballs and now they have a second one. I've never seen planes trains and automobiles. I've never seen some of the most cherished movies that if people found out in=d be kidnapped. as I've told some people and ive had friends from other states threaten to snatch me just to watch movies lol.

I mentioned a day or two ago that my phone had turned its wifi on by itself, and had bled my home internet dry. I turned it off, and made sure "auto join" was turned off.
This evening, I looked at the screen on my phone, and saw the little "wifi connected" icon was present, and it was running very slowly again. I opened my settings, and wifi, and sure enough, the damned thing had turned itself back on, and turned "auto join" back on, and turned "random ip addresses" back on. All by itself, after I went in and manually turned everything off.
This time, I went in, and manually turned all that off, again. Then, I clicked "forget this network". We'll see if it turns itself back on again after I deleted the password.
