Some day I want to buy a customer receiver for a 10/22 and make a custom gun from scratch.

And I’d like to get one of those “high end” custom bolt actions (short action) and build a custom rifle from scratch. I have a few old shot out vz24 Mauser and stuff to someday sporterize and build out. (No historical value. Shot out. But the action is good). But that’s all in the future. Last 20 years my vice has been assembling custom AR type rifles in various calibers. It’s like Legos.

So I've been working on getting my tail lights to work on my EF65. It only came with headlights. I think I bought this in the mid 90's. Anyway, used 603 SMD LEDs and printed up a holder for them. Got it all put together and instead of connecting them to the DCC decoder, I decided to just tie them to the opposing LED since I wanted them to light all the time if the headlight was on. When I tested them however, the headlight would not come on while the tail lights did. What I failed to check was the specs of the LEDs. The headlight is a 3mm standard type and the tail lights are 603 SMD. They light at different voltages, so I had to add resistors to the 603s. 1K resistor tested well, so now have to add these in.

Good evening! The 2 hour time difference hasn’t kicked in yet. At least not that I can feel. 9:43pm in Vancouver is 11:43 bedtime at home in Wisconsin. I’m so wired from sitting in airports, flying to Denver from Madison and then Denver to Vancouver that I doubt I’d fall to sleep very quick.

We actually had a shocking to us very good meal in Concourse B in Denver while between United Airline flights. So here in Vancouver dinner wasn’t much! Steamed dumplings that our AirB&B concierge was surprised we liked. The place we went was like 10th on his list but maybe the best we’ve had. We also shared chicken wings that were a bit spicier that the server said they would be but they still were excellent.

I’m spoiled and I know it but boy commercial airports suck. I have a son that flies private jets as one of his businesses and I have a brother that owns a plane. We landed at Denver arrived 2 minutes early but waited on a taxi way 40 minutes before a gate opened for us. Also I believe in Denver we landed maybe 100 miles from the terminals. I’ve never flown into this airport commercially before.

Vancouver was better. Not that long a taxi after landing but we arrived 15 early but waited 20 minutes before a gate was available.

Overall it’s been a good day, some really good food. The plan is a light Asian centric lunch the next few days and fish for the evening meal. Most of the fish places in Vancouver and got recommendations from friends or the brother I then scoped out the concierge had on his list that he printed out for me. Both Terry and I love a good Asian meal, she loves fish and I’m ok with it. We will make that work!

We are 11 stories up, smack dab in the middle of what we believe is the financial district of downtown Vancouver. We are 4 blocks in any direction from the harbor! Perfect for us as we prefer to walk to our destination restaurants. Some pictures, sorry I have not seen a train since we left Madison this morning

the only time I drink a coke is when there is no alternative
Are you using Coke as a generic term for what I call soda, others call pop. Or are you talking specifically about Coca-Cola? Inquiring minds want to know. 🤪

I avoid getting the battery from Walmart as they don't have any warranty.
Years ago, I bought many batteries for small industrial machines from Walmart. They were always fresh, and they were cheap! Of course I had a charging station to supplement my inventory. The list price on those batteries was more than three times higher than a new battery from Walmart.

I handled the warranty for my customers out of my pocket and usually replaced the battery with one from the charging station. I charged them with a trickle charge. The battery was free, but never my labor.

My customers were happy as no other company did anything other than to charge them for a new battery every time. I didn't offer a discount off the list, but I did replace them for free if they failed within a year. I was happy too; I made a great profit on those batteries.

You could buy a trickle charger and have one ready to go as needed.

From my experience all those little batteries die over time, regardless of brand. And they all take a charge for at least 3-4 years. The best warranty is the one you never have to use. Time is money.

jamming to Ozzy and early 2000s heavy metal.
My man, crank it up!

We'll see if it turns itself back on again after I deleted the password.
Where did you get that phone? Skynet Mobile?

Overall it’s been a good day,
God speed my friend.

Watching my Cardinals play the Yankees, and they are winning right now.
Those kinds of historic matchups are what has sold me on interleague play. Enjoy the game!

I still wonder if those young players understand the history behind those games. Oh well, I find it interesting, nonetheless.

Well howdy there internet peeps and our skynet overlords

It's troy again.

Terry: you may have to make a second login identity for Apple IOS, and have your iPad use it instead of your main one.

I have two myself, for different reasons. My appleTV box uses the old one because it's got all the seasons of Mythbusters in the TV Shows account. If I want to listen to podcasts over the appleTv box, I have to switch IDs on the box to have the podcasts sync across my devices.

My Tv box is the only apple device I do two identities on, but it's easy enough. I made the passwords the same between them.

Of course, that doesn't help if you're using apple-mail on both devices. That'll be a pain to set up again. (I use gmail, because I'm not a fan of apple's calendar or mail interfaces).

And, if you do go Amish, you'd have most of the same problems. Amish in our areas stop at McD's or other fast food to charge up their devices while getting breakfast. I'm surprised our little coffeeshop here isn't overrun with them. Hope they're good tippers.

There is a knock on the door.
Who can that be on a Sunday? Tradesmen’s entrance as well.
It is Lady Cornelia. She wasn’t expected until tomorrow.
What a delight.
I took off her baggage. Always too much in a way, but a pretty sight to see.
Rather petite one would say. Just as I imagined..
I shall take her upstairs and show her to her room.
I hope she is happy with the other ladies.

Oh! I did not mention. Lady Cornelia is a little 0.4.0 Peckett W4 locomotive.

Morning all,

74° and clear, high later of 96°. Feels like temps to 103°.

Finally turned on the sprinklers overnight as the fescue is getting a little brown. Managed not to need them most of the summer.

Louis: Walmart tractor batteries have a 90 day warranty, and the last 3 I tried wouldn't take a charge, trickle or otherwise. The one I currently have is in it's 3rd season and 3rd charge this season. I'll pull it and charge it after the season. Should still be good next year.

Not sure what the day will bring.

So... plotting out the route of my Zombie Conrail .... or is that Conrail Zombie line through NC Indiana, I realized I'd be using the Goshen Ind to White Pigeon Mich line... and there are some meaningful to me landmarks near, but not on that line.

One of them is Bonneyville Mill park just east of Bristol Ind. That's about as far as I can map on my layout. So not quite into Michigan. Spent many a weekend there frollicking in the streams or fields with friends as a lad.

adding this structure will give me some water features and a nice scenic (read Non-Industrial) area to model.

So I went looking for grist mills.

Found the Bar Mills kit. It accidently fell into my Yankee Dabbler cart. Oops!

The rest of today is heading to the game store for some orcs and dwarves and such. BBL

That reminds me, I forgot to ask how they charge the auto batteries they use for their trains?

You could always blame Skynet.

No Goblins?

It sounds like Walmart changed battery suppliers. It has been twenty years since I bought one. Forgive me for the old and outdated information.
