The last time I did that was Costco again (Dr. Pepper for me) -- but it was four flats. I had to find a place to put them!

The "wait for the results" thing has always bothered me. I get it, but it's very annoying, and makes health care seem... impersonal, or llike they don't think it's important. Mostly perception I imagine --they really do care, or so I hope -- but still...

I was actually surprised they told me as much as they did yesterday; usually they refuse to tell me anything at all until after it's all analyzed or whatever.

When I had this done a decade ago, they removed a few polyps. Fortunately they turned out to be benign. Praying yours are the same!

That's about my level; I drink about a six pack a day of Dr. Pepper, give or take a little. It's not healthy, I'm sure, but a very hard habit to kick. I managed to quit smoking, but soda? Not so much.

I picked up a couple of 36-can flats of Dr. Pepper for $18.79 each today, so around $3.15 a six pack of 12 ounce cans, not on sale. The last sale had them for like $3 off the flat or something.

I remember when I could get one out of a vending machine for that price; now it's like a buck a can in most places from what I've seen.
You could try beer……

From the "it's always something" category.

Yesterday during a down pour of biblical proportions, I noticed a minor leak coming from the vent flashing assembly around a plumbing vent pipe that protrudes through our roof. The roof is not five years old!

During the rain I went into the attic as I had not reinstalled the wall to give me access to the vent from the inside. I have enough roofing experience to know these kinds of things require the most skill and I worried it would leak. Sure enough, it was a slow drip. It's a good thing I hadn't started on my layout. I would have reinstalled the wall to build in front of it. I wouldn't have found the leak for months as slow as it was leaking in the heavy rain.

I have a 30-year warranty on the roof, but I'm not calling the company that couldn't install the boot and flashing correctly the first time. I'd do it myself but the risk of my unstable 🫏 falling off the pitched roof is too high. Not to mention my decrepit hands.

I'll find a small competent contractor to do the work. I will need a handyman's services for other things. Time to find one.

It's always something if it's not one thing it's another.

I feel bad for old people... wait I am one! 🤪

I hear you bro....I may feel like I'm 25, but the joints say otherwise.

Ah, the lovely art of troubleshooting problems that turn out to be intermittent...
Yup, that sucks.

This morning, woke up late. Finally got some sleep in since I was missing a lot over the past few days. Fire up the computer and the TV says nothing connected. Moved the HDMI cable to the other port on my video card, nothing. Reseated the HDMI cable on the TV, nothing.

WD40 contact cleaner to the rescue! Writing this post right now.

Reminds me that I need to do my annual computer clean out that I neglected to do last December.

I'm curious, since I don't remember, and if you don't mind my asking:

What's the LDS policy for soda? I knew that Coffee was avoided, but can't remember if it's because it's "hot" or caffeinated?

Worried me when I was being considered to photograph an LDS wedding reception. I hit the coffee hard whenever I photographed weddings. Needed the sugar I added, and the caffeine to stay awake during some the lengthy speeches. And on the drive home.
There is no LDS policy on soda. Even caffeinated sodas, though for a long time it was the cultural norm or belief to avoid caffeinated sodas. Even BYU finally succumbed and started carrying regular Coke and Pepsi and stuff and not just the caffeine free versions (this was a decade or two ago).

The "Word of Wisdom", which is what the "dietary restrictions" are based upon, says "hot drinks", which, because of great confusions and stuff over the decades, and changes in what drinks are "hot", was defined by leadership to be "coffee and tea". ("Tea" meaning true tea from the Camellia sinensis plant. Traditionally it's been defined as "black tea" because that is the US / European common form but any of the teas from the same plant would fall under it. When the "Word of Wisdom" was written in the early 1830s, we didn't have in N European descended USA a plethora of teas and things like herbal teas nor were there other common "hot drinks", so it needs to be taken in that context.)

So its not the caffeine or the temperature, but the directive given (and later codified as more binding -- much later) to avoid what at the time were the hot drinks of society, coffee and tea. For whatever reason. So one makes a conscious decision to be obedient. You don't get kicked out or ostracized. if you drink coffee or tea. There is a certain private interview time where you are asked if you are "living the word of wisdom" and you answer. There are no explanations requested or required or given. You answer according to your conscience. That time is when getting or renewing a "temple recommend", which is required to enter into a Temple.

If you want to read the text of the "Word of Wisdom", it is D&C 89. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/89?lang=eng

I'd be happy to answer question offline as I don't want to run afoul of any rules discussing religion in the forum. The link above is just for people interested in reading the actual writing that this comes from.

I consider this matter publicly closed because of forum rules but I am happy to discuss this or answer questions or whatever outside of the forum (through personal message etc).

Good evening all, it is cooking hot here for the next week, today hit 101 with a HI of 110. So we chose today to go to do some shopping...
Anyway, we discovered that the help at Sam's Club Customer Service seems to have been hired for...I really don't know as the three of them couldn't have found their butts using both hands and directions. Yeesh. I did pick up the August RMC and enjoyed our colleague's article.
We then enjoyed an early dinner at Texas Road House, the pork chops were great!

Been troubleshooting this lightboard all of last night. LEDs are good, probing the runners on the side with 5vdc, I get it to light intermittently. So I figure corrosion. IPA, then mineral spirits, then sand paper, then flow solder, then sand paper again, then contact cleaner. All no worky. I finally realized that I was pushing down hard on the board to get the LED to light. Aha! Broke out the soldering iron and reflowed the resistor and the capacitor. That did it. Couldn't see the microfracture even with my 10x magnifier.

Board almost won...

I don't drink light beer anyway
I'm with you on that!

I recently tried Michelob Ultra. I thought it was the best light beer I ever tasted, which is not saying much. I'll use the rest of it for cooking.

Fortunately, I had some Miller High Life left in the fridge to remind me of what beer should taste like.

Due to struggles controlling my glucose I don't drink much beer. But if I do, I want an exceptionally good beer. Close enough is not good enough.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those who have a beverage here, man!

I'm not the Dude, but I am Troy.

Remember, in The Big Lebowski, you never see the Dude bowl.

It's going to be hot and muggy again. Thought about the 1 hour drive to get to the train show in Van Wert OH. Wife found a park in that area she could go wander around and get some walking in while I strolled the fairgrounds buildings... But Hot-n-Muggy with a chance for rain made both of us decide to stay home.

This morning I was reading through some more of Lance Mindheim's book on "How to Design a Model Railroad" and he showed the design of Jim Six's NYC Indiana Div, Michigan Div.

He's modelling a few towns on there that are on the lines I wanted to use in my Conrail Zombie Apocalypse line. So I went off in search of pics online. A minor article in Model Railroad Planning 2012 showed me a grain mill he was adding. Supposedly, there's another article in the same publication two years before (2010) but that issue isn't archived on the FireCrown Model Railroader site.

I found a few scattered pieces and blog posts from Jim Six, some archived in the Way Back Machine. But nothing current. Does anyone know if he's still around and posting anywhere?

No more locomotives. NO MORE LOCOMOTIVES.
I know. I know. I have told myself often enough, but---

There she was all alone. Unwanted. A little 0.4.0 locomotive. Wrong colour, but ------

Way back in time; late Victorian time, there was a close relative, Lady Cornelia. It is said, 'a little oddball' in character, but was good to be around her. She had 'her ways' and that was it.

Back to the little 0.4.0. It looks a little 'oddball' in a cute way. Purchase made and it is on its way. Should arrive Monday. Oh! A name for it?
Lady Cornelia off course.

In 86 or 87, my aunt celebrated her 25th anniversary at the nunnery. All 8 brothers and sisters and family gathered in Illinois for it. While there, we went to the Miller brewing factory for a tour. The tour included a sample of genuine draft, lite, and high life. Since none of my aunts drank beer, I got a lot of them. I got trashed big time. One of my aunts told me that she never seen me drunk before. As far as I know, I was behaving... :)

That's a beauty. I had that on my wishlist.
