Interesting reading about past history ... we got to 95 today, but it was scorching if you were in the direct sun.
Garage sale was poor today - Spousal Unit, daughter, and I decided that we were not going to move the "stuff" back into the garage, so we put a 'TAKE IT FREE' sign and closed up shop about noon.
It is strange that when we didn't really advertise that we did better than today when the daughter put ads on all the local websites. Finally around 4PM - cars started coming to get the "free" stuff.
Good, now at least I can get to my table saw. drill press, and grinder - and the car can have a place out of the sun again.
We are even too tired to go out to eat, so we have decided that grilled cheese and pinto beans w/jalapenos sounds pretty good.

Listening to KARL'S cat song and this popped up on the U-tube site. What a gorgeous airplane -- have many hours in the three different models -- this one is the 749A model. I am a little confused at the length of time starting up. We would have the ground guy count 8 blades (which cleared the oil from the lower cylinders) and then fire it up. These guys were doing 20 Plus blades? Anyway, music to my ears - and prob the reason I can't hear thunder anymore?

Can't

Good evening: Cloudy and 68° after a daytime high of 87°. Not the best day...not the worst.

George: Sorry your wife is not doing well. Here's hope the surgery helps.

The Orioles beat the Mets again :)

Our day didn't go well...everyone was cranky, including the cat. MIL is tormenting her with stupidity. She's not feeling well, I'm not feeling well, and the house is becoming too much to handle. BTW, got the Insurance renewal notices, and the tax bill for the next year. Car insurance, on 1 car, standard coverage, up $77. Homeowners Insurance, standard HO-5 coverage, UP $417. Property Taxes, UP $829. Something's gotta give... Plus, I'm in the Donut hole now so my primary Lung med goes from $40 / mo to $147 /mo. the generics, go from no co-pay to about $6.00 each for 90 days. No wonder I'm cranky.

Well tomorrow will be better.

Sherrel: Man what a beautiful aircraft. I loved watching the Connies fly over on their approach to PHL. Love the sound too. Nothing like them.

Afternoon All,

Had the 3rd night in a row of lousy sleep. I did a bunch of chores earlier and not much else today. I'm watching some really crappy movie on TV. We're going out to supper tonight with daughter's family.

Mikey- Happy Belated Birthday.🎂

Troy- What is all that in the second photo?

David- Great photos.

Joe- MOH and I met in 1977 and married in 1978 in Camp Springs, MD while we were stationed there in a Navy detachment. If I remember right, there was a mall in Landover and the Redskin stadium. I do remember running out of gas in a major intersection there.:(

Willie- Great looking grocery with all of your detailing.

TomO- Congrats on the "soft" move in.

Terry- They sound like crappy neighbors!:D

I hope everyone has a good night.
Second photo is card houses, structures, castles, high rises… not to give Tom O any ideas for future rentals. Sometime durinrthe con, the allow people to purchase the right to throw coins to knock the structures down. Money raised goes to charity

To add fuel to the fire, Indianapolis had a new stadium looking for a tenant. The television networks were looking to create a new local NFL market in Indianapolis. Pete Roselle was the facilitator, and Baltimore was the market deemed most expendable, given Green Bay's ownership makeup. Given that, the Colts days in Baltimore were numbered. Roselle made Irsay an offer he couldn't refuse, and he had to get out before Comrade Schaffer and his minions could seize Irsay's assets. Personally, as a Baltimore Colts fan, I hate seeing my team playing in Indiana, but from a business standpoint, I thoroughly understand why.
I feel the same way about the Philadelphia A's.... I was five when they left for the Midwest, (and are still a dysfunctional organization 70 years later) But again, there was no valid economic reason for the A's to remain in Philadelphia, especially when the other team was only four years removed from their last World Series appearance...
Baltimore's fair-weather fans only made things worse. The last year I worked at Colt games was 1982. Attendance was poor and some "fans" were wearing paper bags on their heads! I got into more than a few brawls when I pulled the bags off the drunken fools' heads. It gave me something to do at halftime. The draft beer was not keeping me busy.

Good morning all. This morning I have seen a strange object in the sky. A strange looking round thing. The Elders in the village say it is a thing they haven't seen in ages. It is called the Sun! Whatever; the young ones are calming down as the rain returns.

Three Bridges in Runcorn Cheshire.

A rare picture indeed of the three bridges. On the left is the old Transporter Bridge. On the right the Railway Bridge. The one in the middle is the 'new' Runcorn-Widnes Bridge. (My Uncle Frank was one of the builders' on the bridge)
Shortly after the Transporter Bridge was demolished.

I have survived.

Following a day at GenCon, I enjoyed o_O🤢 a 2 hour nighttime drive home, half of it in the rain.

My throat is toasty from all of the "projection" speaking I did to be heard over the din of the gamers. And, since my area was in the floor of the football stadium, it was oddly quiet. Still, when speaking to 4 people at a time, at a gaming table, I spoke lounder than normal. Compared to the dealer room, which was packed, and in the main convention center, the gaming space we were in was a LOT quieter. No ear fatigue at all from the noise.

Here are some pics. I didn't go a lot of places.

there is always a massive balloon sculpture in the main corridor of the convention center. Loved this year's.

I got to the con an hour before the bossman arrived with my badge. He said go get a lanyard because whoever picked up my badge didn't get one... So I sat and waited, with lanyard, sans badge.

The gaming tables for the demo games we'd be running.

The OTHER game I like to play.... in a megabattle with 5-6 players per side. Looked like fun.

Our group teaching the game of Bolt Action (WWII) to new recruits. The gent in the red shirt/tan cap standing to the right is Colin from Warlord Games in fresh from the UK. Pleasant chap, but his accent wasn't Americanized yet. We'll have to get him to come visit some more.

My final training game of the day... Blood Red Skies battle of Midway. Some Zeros taking on Wildcats.

Believe it or not, there is NOT any easy way to get to the field level of the stadium. It's like they don't want fans down there.

So you start from the concession stand level, and descend the Himalayas to go down. Want some food, ascend the stairs again. Back to the gaming floor...

Did you know, its only 83 steps one way? No wonder I was winded every time I went to hit the loo at the top. I probably climbed that 6 or 7 times max. Glad to see the apple watch counted it as "two" flights.

time for more coffee. Back later.

Good morning to all. 65f degrees in So. Central WIsconsin with a dullness in the air. It’s not smoke haze but it sure looks like it. High for today shall be 79. The AQ# now is 71 that they say is in the good quality! But it’s gloomy. 15% chance of rain every hour until 10PM when it jumps up to 34%. The grass could be cut but I don’t feel up to it even though weather wise this is the day for it.

Official move in day is today as tonight we sleep in the new place.

Bad start at golf yesterday. Hooked the ball a little to much hit a tree on the left side of the fairway. I had a narrow opening to avoid another fairway tree hit that which put me behind more trees on the right side of the fairway. It's hard to win a low stroke bet starting out with an 8 on the 1st hole.

Good Morning All!

63F @ 64% and somewhat overcast / smokey

We have fires pretty near us and the smoke is swooshing by. The one near Kalispell ( McGuiness Meadows ) was started by a human. Apparently poured gasoline around and touched it off. He is currently in Jail, 100K bond, with 150K fine. It was at 300 acres last night but said to be contained. Two more to the North lightning started. Seems to be none close to the West or South.

Yesterday, I was sitting on the front porch for a quick break. Looked up just in time to see a hummingbird coming at me. You know how a flight comes in for a carrier landing - nose really up, full flaps and somewhat slow? Well, that bird did almost exactly the same thing. Tail feathers were a bright white and I could see them flutter while it rolled to the right and left just a tad to align for a flower landing. Flower was about 2 feet from my head so I had quite the view. I just sat and thought .. wow! Little guy was almost 1 1/2" tall. The planets would have to be aligned to get pix of that!

Wife started a new diet - 'The Tequila diet'. She has lost 2 weeks so far.

Today is a 'might not work' kinda day - have to catch up on all the domestic stuff; gas for 2 cars, more electrical type stuff from ACE, food run, clothes wash, dump run and I may even clean up my mess in the ReDo, moving the unused insulation and sweeping the floor to get rid of all the wood chips from hole drilling for electrical.

You nailed it, Louis. Look at attendance at Orioles games, this season vs. the last couple.

Everyone loves to be associated with a winner. Cohen has sent apology letters out to Mets Season Ticket Holders appalled by this team's performance. Rumors are flying that Pete Alonzo is on the block once the season ends, and resale prices for seats are way down... Yankees, not much better, although they are a tourist attraction as much as a baseball team.
