I have survived.
Following a day at GenCon, I enjoyed

a 2 hour nighttime drive home, half of it in the rain.
My throat is toasty from all of the "projection" speaking I did to be heard over the din of the gamers. And, since my area was in the floor of the football stadium, it was oddly quiet. Still, when speaking to 4 people at a time, at a gaming table, I spoke lounder than normal. Compared to the dealer room, which was packed, and in the main convention center, the gaming space we were in was a LOT quieter. No ear fatigue at all from the noise.
Here are some pics. I didn't go a lot of places.
there is always a massive balloon sculpture in the main corridor of the convention center. Loved this year's.
I got to the con an hour before the bossman arrived with my badge. He said go get a lanyard because whoever picked up my badge didn't get one... So I sat and waited, with lanyard, sans badge.
The gaming tables for the demo games we'd be running.
The OTHER game I like to play.... in a megabattle with 5-6 players per side. Looked like fun.
Our group teaching the game of Bolt Action (WWII) to new recruits. The gent in the red shirt/tan cap standing to the right is Colin from Warlord Games in fresh from the UK. Pleasant chap, but his accent wasn't Americanized yet. We'll have to get him to come visit some more.
My final training game of the day... Blood Red Skies battle of Midway. Some Zeros taking on Wildcats.
Believe it or not, there is NOT any easy way to get to the field level of the stadium. It's like they don't want fans down there.
So you start from the concession stand level, and descend the Himalayas to go down. Want some food, ascend the stairs again. Back to the gaming floor...
Did you know, its only 83 steps one way? No wonder I was winded every time I went to hit the loo at the top. I probably climbed that 6 or 7 times max. Glad to see the apple watch counted it as "two" flights.
time for more coffee. Back later.
