Good Morning All. Clear and 84°. Highs in the 108°-110° range for a couple of days. It was 110° yesterday. Then the wind shifts Monday from the east and Monday and Tuesday we should only see 102°. Only 102°!!!

A 20% chance of rain has been put into Monday night's forecast, but that's because the NWS guy is bored.
Nothing special about yesterday, outdoor activity has mostly come to a standstill due to medical restrictions on lifting and exertion; and the heat. I may be caught up on the indoor "honey-do's" for now. Wife leaves this morning to attend a dance recital and to return the granddog. She'll be spending the night at the granddog's home since my daughter & family won't return until tomorrow sometime.
I thoroughly reread the doctor's post-op instructions yesterday. He permits showers but does not permit swimming. But he says nothing about wading! So as long as I keep my head above water, why not use the pool? Yesterday, I did. Water temperature dropped to 86° overnight and only got up to 89° yesterday, so it remains comfortable. Easy enough to keep my head above the water level, as it has no deep end. It's all ~52" deep, the bottom undulates some due to the ground shifting.
On the subject of cataract surgery, I am truly amazed at the difference in brightness and color between the "new eye" and the "old eye". I look at the freezer across the room with my left eye and I see a dingy slightly yellow tint object. With my right eye (the one that I had done), it is a bright white. I can almost read the computer screen without my "readers" with my right one. In the long run, the doctor said that I will probably need to use the "readers" for reading, which I don't mind. But I went 68 years without needing regular glasses and they still bother me.
Yesterday out in the train shed, I ignored the weeds that I had intended to add. They're still there waiting, maybe today or tomorrow. Instead, I picked up another of
Chet's structures that suffered some damage during the removal and subsequent shipping to me. Some of the damage was done in the removal process as parts were taped to the base. Others were in the large box that everything was shipped in. Some parts I had to fabricate out of stripwood.
We're looking at Garner's Grocery and Meat Market, a laser-cut wood structure. It appears to be from American Model Builders, but I didn't look it up to confirm.
First thing that I didn't take a picture of, was straightening out the chimney that had gotten bent over at a 45° angle. I couldn't remove it; it was obviously super-glued in. I did get it straight and super-glued the s**t out of it so it would remain upright. Then I attacked the staircase. It's missing two steps, only one of which I found in the box. So I fabricated another from stripwood, and had a hard time matching the paint exactly. But I got close, (bottom one)..
Reattached some other trim that was out of place or had fallen off; added the awning and business sign back on and added a few trash barrels and a pallet out back.
I don't know exactly where it will go ultimately, but I have a good idea.
Mikey - Happy Birthday.
David - The latest cruise liner pictures are interesting to me, as I didn't realize that ships got that close to one another except when berthing.
Swal - Been meaning to ask, how's your wife doing?
Hughie - My wife needed that follow-up laser surgery in one eye only, about a year after her initial cataract removal. She says that she'll need it again in another year or two.
Of note to those who were around in 1969, today is Neil Armstrong's 82nd birthday. He's still taking small steps.
Everybody have a great day. If you live here in Texas, stay cool and hydrated.
