Evening all,

Watered the garden twice now since I've been home and the talk is that we're supposed to get rain overnight. At this point the garden is still dry 1.5" below the surface. Hopefully it starts to take water...

While I don't want to oversaturate it, it is slowly taking in the water. Rain will help, just need more than a trace.

Soaking deeper will require about 1"-1.5" of water. For me that usually requires 3-4 hours of sprinkler time. You can measure how much your sprinkler is putting down by using a straight-sided bucket, like a 5-gallon paint bucket, to collect and measure it. Hand watering isn't adequate. Cotton burr compost is great stuff, but it really absorbs water readily which may temporarily be thwarting your progress; but once saturated will work wonders for you.

Right, all done, fire department will leave a vehicle to finish off dampening down, so after I've had a shower (I stink of smoke) I might get 2 hrs sleep if I'm lucky.

Thank you, seems the building was empty, but Fire service were still there when I came to work at 5.30, but no Ambulance or Police, so........

Although I think we've sustained water damage from the couple of thousand gallons the Fire Brigade used last night.

Good morning gang

35° and clear outside right now with a high today only expected of 57°. Forgot to turn the heat on yesterday afternoon so this morning the house was a brisk 60°. I love this time of year having to turn the heat off in the AC on in the AC off and the heater on and so and so. Makes for a few brisk mornings.

Opened a letter from the IRS yesterday. It seems there was an error on my 2021 taxes and I owed them almost 4,000 dollars. They kept my $960 refund from this years taxes, and are demanding the rest now, claiming that I was sent notification last year of the error last year. (Nope, not here) After pulling my tax records and research on IRS.GOV and being on hold with IRS for over an hour and speaking with someone, I wound up writing a check for $3,036.08. Ouch!

I had a similar situation here. I pay tax as I earn, but I recieved a letter I owe £3,427.42p due to their errors. Though I disputed the amount, I lost. At least they allowed me to pay the amount over three years.
