Just remember that you're not the RM customer -- the seller is. So the seller needs to be the one to deal with RM from a "correct" viewpoint. (There may be a good reason to talk to the local RM yourself for practical reasons).

The seller is the one who "contracted" the RM to deliver the package for them and hence this is the seller's problem.

It's like this: seller finds Guido on the corner and asks him to take a package to you and offers him 10 quid to do so. Guido says he tossed the package on a door step and says it was delivered. You never saw it. You, the customer, were not part of this and you have no part in that deal. Now put RM in place of Guido. Same thing.

If you can't come to a good conclusion working with RM, the seller needs to make it good in the end as they took your money and didn't deliver to you what you ordered/bought from them.
Ok, but in the UK as long as Guido tossed the package at the address/building he was given, it's considered to have been delivered. It's up to the seller as to whether he'll take the hit and decide whether to accept the customers word that although there is photographic evidence to the contrary the customer didn't receive the item and either give a refund, send a duplicate or do neither.

But until I go and check that the item wasn't returned to the local post depot and a "you have a parcel and it's been taken to your local depot for collection" card for some reason wasn't left for me, I can't do much, I at least, have to make a attempt to see if it's simply a mistake or it's been stolen, then I'll contact the seller and see what they say.

Sounds like its time for you to invest in a Ring doorbell camera, if you don't already have one! :)

Is this UK law (as in passed by parliament and however else a law is made in the UK) or is that just how people have been trained to think it works ?

if I was missing a package and the seller wouldn’t fix the problem I’d go to my credit card company. I’m not paying for something I didn’t get because the seller chose to use Guido — something I don’t have a choice over. I’m not party to the sellers agreement with whomever they choose to do delivery — that is his problem and his choice.

I knew it was coming RM 48 hour tracked. But the photograph would be sufficent as proof of delivery in most cases for either the courts or CC companies, and to be honest, it's $10.

Hi Smudge

I've spoke with my nephew who works for RM (admin side), he has informed me that proof of delivery is not actually proof of delivery, its proof that it has been in the care of RM - the only way it can be proven that it has been delivered is by a signature or a photo with an identifiable part of the person it has been handed over to.

All you can do is check the item isn't at the sorting office, if not, the seller has to act on your complaint and reimburse accordingly.

Drill dude finally put his phone away and is doing quite the job on securing the boards after Orange Shirt and his helper ran the line with one screw in each (the end board and one about the middle were squared up with a level, and screwed top and bottom.)

I love having my Ring Camera. I can keep an eye on them and not have them feel like I'm snooping. When I really am.

Acutally, I just check in about every 10 minutes and make sure they're earning their money from the Condo Association.

21ST century Gladys Kravitz you are!! ;) :D

Just thinking out loud here. Does the U.K. have the mailbox stores where you lease a P.O box and your packages would be delivered to them.

I know it's only a $10 item, but next time it could be a $300 locomotive!

Afternoon All,

Started out with a walk at 61F and getting into the 80's today. I ran several errands this morning, now I'm killing tome until I drive to the school for the book fair. The Amnesty granted by MOH is over. :( No train room time today. I'll be tied up at the fair tomorrow morning for the finish and packing up the books.

David- Nice videos.

Patrick- I have lived and dealt with the entire house after Mom passed. Not fun and a lot of work.

TomO- I agree with you. Around here the best is USPS. Nice 1:1 photo.

Chad- It looks like you've made significant progress on the house.

Willie- Nice looking buildings.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I disagree on the USPS. I probably average 6 outbound shipments a week using USPS which has been great for me unless it needs to go east of Wisconsin and ends up at the Chicago distribution center. Instead of 2-3 days if it goes through Chicago add 2/days. None of my clients though have complained. I will not purposely use FedEx.

Obviously YMMV
Tom: USPS is Jekyll and Hyde. Trainworld is the best example, some orders get to me, (40 miles away), overnight. Other orders take a week or more from USPS possession of the parcel.

It depends on location.yours and the counter partys.

OK then. Looks like Joe in the UK has solved Smudge's problem. Now the only remaining issue is, does Tony use USPS, UPS, FedX, NHL or Amazon to ship cats to Mike?
If I know cats they own Mike not the other way around. As to parcels we get several a week not one over several years has been lost to a porch pirate. My across the street neighbor leaves his on his front steps for days at a time with no complaints. We live in a good area.
