Sorry to hear that, TomO! Just FYI - I just had a like episode right before I read of yours and it came on suddenly. It's been happening with me every now and then - last one was maybe 5-6 days back. Mine are bad enough that I have to grab on to something in order to keep upright and last maybe anywhere from 15 to 45 seconds. I have no warning ahead of time!
Not for nothing. I occasionally get a "surprise" dizzy spell, caused by getting up too quickly, or sudden movement. Another possibility, low blood oxygen levels, which even for very brief episodes, will cause a disruption. I don't have diabetes, and my numbers are generally in the good range.

Hello and good morning from my portion of Wisconsin. Feeling better with no dizziness yet this morning. But I have only been up maybe 10 minutes.

Labs at 9 this morning and if I still feel unsure I will talk to someone about an appointment. Only one other time can I remember ever getting dizzy and that was also on a set of stairs. That one though lasted a good while and I did sleep a couple hours and felt fine. Yesterday’s episode basically lasted for hours but the almost 7 hours of sleep seems to have helped. But now because of yesterday I will have a chauffeur which will prevent me from celebrating my soon to be revealed great medical numbers. So no I will not have my second donut of the year unless I can convince the other 1/2 (moh) that a celebration is called for.

Thanks for the concerns and questions. More news later

Good morning gang and to the half deaf headbangers too!

Lots of concerts under my belt too, starting with Clapton's Slow Hand tour in Baltimore, several summers spent at Merriweather Post Pavilion seeing Buffett, Jackson Brown, the Doobie Brothers, Eagles, Tom Petty, etc, culminating with my last visit there in 2012 for the M3 Rock Festival, 3 days of heavy metal and hair bands , headlined by Ratt, Skid Row and Whitesnake. We had VIP tickets, separate seating, our own toilets, and our own lounge area, and even a private bar all off to one side of the stage. I also was a frequent visitor to the original Hammerjacks in Baltimore seeing local bands like Crack the Sky, Facedancer, Hybrid Ice and Mars, all at excessive volume. Still the hearing is fine, even though the wife may disagree. ;)

Bright and sunny here today, highs in the lower 60s.

Good morning!

I never was into music, and only attended one concert in my life. 'Country Joe and the Fish' back in the very early 70's. All it meant to me, was a reason to go out and get drunk't-up and party. - I seem to remember that the 'Fish' was a Frank Zappa adventure.

Life has really hit a slump period, with the word 'renovation' taking up a huge part of spacetime. Then, it's being salted with all the other things the wife wants done, like garden work. Now, she says she wants a new fence put up around the garden.
I am a slave, being beaten under the whip of trying to maintain a healthy relationship.

I don't even have any new photos today. The camera is coated under a layer of sawdust, identifying a lack of use.
I'm going to give her until green-up, and then I'm going to take my time back for more sensible hobbies. Like modelling for instance.

That's all the complaining I can muster, for one day. Life is too much of a wonderful thing to waste it complaining!

Have a good one!

Good Morning All!
36F @ 64% and snowing.

Have almost half of the Cottonwood burned. We just may get it all gone by the end of April. Dummy me chunked them all at 4 - 5 feet; THEN I found out we could not lift the dang things. Thank God for the tractor - roll them into the bucket, then dump on fire. Brice whom lives next door has a huge pile of bark from the Tammy/Larch and Red Fir he split last fall and is bringing it over with the trailer that follows the yard tractor so we can keep the coals hot. He had to work yesterday but came over with one load in his MHP uniform. You should have seen the cars slow down on the road other side of the creek! Guess that they thought we were getting a ticket or sumptin. Wife had an eye exam yesterday at 1030 so we didn't start until about noon. Still had a good sized pile going before the 1500 breeze came up. There are some 18" chunks so I decided try and split them for throwing underneath some of the bigger stuff on the fire. Right, 1st swing and the Collins Axe buried itself up to the handle. Mushy crap! Anyway after about 3 swings they were cut in half. That did help with the coals. So, thought I this morning - gonna try using the backhoe to split them - pretty spendy wood splitter if it works, but what the hay!

Should have clear sailing today. Tomorra Wife gets to do her 'stress test' at 1530 so no coffee for her 12 hours before - she is gonna be grouchy!

I meant to mention this earlier, but forgot, so pin your ears back, I'm about to have a rant.

Hobby Lines, now let me say I've ordered from these guys before, and never had a problem.
Weeks before Tony's kind offer I ordered a set of Athearn "High-Performance" worm gear for a project I'm working on for someone else, these are as most of you know, the new plastic worm gear.

Having taken what I can only assume to be the longest route possible between the US. and the UK. (there was no tracking) they arrived yesterday, great, these are the last parts I need to finish the other project.

Opened the package, low and behold, I have two worm gears which I hadn't ordered????

Messaged Hobby Lines, asking why have they sent brass worm gears and not the "High Performance" gears I asked and paid for, I've just received their reply.

"I apologize about this, it seems like Athearn has changed the product
will you be able to make it work for you"

Seems someone thinks I'm an idiot, Athearn have changed their worm gear from plastic to brass, I think not!
I would send them back, but there's no point, I'm out of pocket either way.

Rant over.

Gee, letting someone know that is what happened (cough cough) so the customer could decide if they wanted the brass ones was too damn hard I suppose. Of course it was - hell, if they did that the customer might say no and they say good bye to a sale ($$$). Seems to me @Smudge617 as though what you experienced is becoming the norm - business' don't give a darn about the customers any more, with a few (very few) exceptions.

Smudge: Tell them you are not happy at all. They may just send you the correct gears free of charge. In any event, those brass gears should work; abet maybe a tad more noisy than the plastic.

Nope, they have no more, they want me to return them for a refund, but I have to pay the return postage, so the refund will only net me 30% of what I originally paid out, so it's really not worth me doing.

What's really annoyed me is that Tony has several sets of brass gears for my switcher, If I'd known they were going to send me brass ones I would've waited and saved myself £30

Good Morning All. Clear skies and 60° on my back porch. Mid-70's today, low-80's tomorrow. NWS still seems pretty adamant about rain Thursday night. High winds are supposed to continue today through Thursday when the thunderstorms are supposed to arrive. Cold front arrives Friday and we'll have a cooler weekend.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the ongoing discussions regarding others experiences with live rock concerts. It's brought back a lot of great memories for me. Thank you Swal for starting it all up.

Another day in the garden yesterday, finished up setting in all of the t-posts for the tomato cages. Prior to the wind picking up, I added powdered fertilizer and compost to everything, and started mulching the rows. Just about ready to put it all to bed and wait for the harvest. Those tomato cages will be easy if I get them in in the next couple of days before the plants take off. Mowing is on temporary hiatus except the immediate area around the house which I water. I'll use the electric push mower there to get some needed exercise. Today I'll stack firewood that I have already cut, and shred branches to use as mulch where needed.
All of this discussion regarding dizzy spells has me concerned, since I am an overweight, Type II diabetic with high blood pressure. Haven't had an episode myself yet. Just checked my oxygen level after reading someones comment, and it's 99%. A1C last week is remaining at 5.7 and glucose levels are below 120 most of the time. If I would lose 40 more pounds, I could probably eliminate 90% of my medications.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I split my time cleaning the next structures in the line and imagineering several locations that need improvement. I need to keep a notebook for this kind of stuff so I don't forget. But I would forget where the notebook is from time to time.
Moving along southward on the layout, is a backdrop structure that is fastened to the backdrop so it will be cleaned in place. Here's Pioneer Press, the local newspaper and a small flower shop next to it.

Then we encounter a Bar Mills structure called Lou's Cigar Shop.

Then a couple more businesses.

I need to revisit this stretch of road to add a few more details.

Tom O - Once again, hoping that you get over the dizziness and can figure out what may be causing it. I remember that part of Greg's demise began with hm falling down the basement steps, although he unfortunately had other negative issues as well.
Troy - Seems like you could get a lot of interesting plot twists out of that set-up.
Mike - Damn Yankees is a group that I always wanted to see, but by the time they formed, I had already cut back on concerts.
Chad . The CTTE show was fantastic, especially seeing Rick Wakeman in his gold cape whirling around like an ancient emperor.

Curt - That turned out to be an easy fix on the supply wire. Saved you a lot of time.
Joe - Good luck with the termites.

Well, I'm seeing and hearing the neighbor's son out plowing my hayfield this morning already. He used a chisel plow last Saturday, looks like he's using a disc plow today. He's doing a much better job than his 81 year old dad did for the last few years, very understandable. With dad, we usually split the cost of gas, seed and fertilizer; and then split the profits from the hay. Option #2, used occasionally in the past, he pays for everything and keeps all of the profit. I supply the land only and I don't have to pay for maintenance. It looks like Marty is using that option this year since he hasn't come by to discuss option #1 yet. Dad signed all of his assets over to him a few years ago, so no one has to deal with wills or probate when the time comes.
Everyone have a wonderful day.

I love looking at all the buildings you have, always a great scene.
