Good Morning All. Clear skies and 44°, headed up to the mid-70's today. The rain has been removed from the forecast. Highs next week range from 87° on Thursday, to 68° next Sunday, or that's what the NWS guesses.
Idle thought: America seems to be quite preoccupied right now with a man pretending to be a woman, trying to sell us a beverage pretending to be a beer!
I continued my never ending task of mowing yesterday, this time on the north side around the train shed and pond. The growth is still the result of the 2" rainfall that we got on 4/2. It should slow down now since I finally did everything. Then I did something that I rarely do and that was wash the car at home. I also removed a 6' "volunteer" Hackberry tree that was too close to the driveway, prompted in part from either an Amazon Prime or Fedex truck hitting it this week. I didn't see it actually happen but the damage was obvious, and both came by at the same day. We were at the grocery store and both had left packages while we were gone. I also finished the first of two garden pathways. I'm irrigating right now, so the second one won't get done until Tuesday at the earliest.
I made it out to the train shed late yesterday and resumed the layout cleansing. Then I went for a switching scenario, but the locos I was going to use, a pair of GP38-2's just weren't running well. Over to the workbench they are going for a contemplated overhaul. These are at least 25 year old Blue Box Athearn locos that I have never upgraded. They still work OK for just running end to end on the layout, but not so good at the fine art of switching. They could be retired as I have too many locomotives for active use on the layout. There are 8 in the "dead line" already.
In the meantime, I looked around for my next large project while waiting to complete the south end of the Ethanol refinery. I found a likely candidate, the Propane distributor, in the corner behind the area that I just cleaned.
Some degree of difficulty leaning over to get to it, that wasn't an issue when I originally just filled it in six years ago. Another reason that I don't fasten most structures in place...they might need to be removed for projects like this.
Patrick - Thankfully my wife doesn't allow me to do any indoor painting. The outdoor stuff is no longer done by me, as she doesn't like seeing me up on top of the 20' extension ladder.
Louis - At least something good about Willy's current state, he lost a lot of weight.
Tom O - A pair of neat looking layouts.
Today is National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day.
Everyone have a great day.
