Boris, if you have time watch the Orioles Vs the White Sox Sunday at 2pm. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/orioles-vs-white-sox/2023/04/16/718553/preview
Grayson Rodriguez will be making his third start. He is the Orioles' top pitching prospect. He is rated as the fifth best prospect in all of baseball!
If the game is the free game of the day, I'll be watching. Otherwise, not. Last year, when I was a subscriber, the O's games were always the daily free game. This year I'm not a subscriber so... It's a variation of Governor Murphy's Law. It's like the NHL playoffs, divided between ESPN and TNT until the final round on ABC. I'm SOL for the first through fourth rounds. Regional broadcasting simulcasts the first round, but it's all on cable....which I cut.

Good evening. 73° after a high of 91°, (93° on my front porch). Last night's post became completely corrupted, so I deleted it before posting.

The NJ Devils finished 2nd in the Metropolitan, 1 point behind Carolina. Playoff series against the NY Rags begins Tuesday at the Rock, (Prudential Center, in Newark, NJ). This team wasn't expected to compete this season by most "Experts", yet they broke all sorts of Franchise and /or League records, completely exceeding the best in season records of the Glory Days of 1995 through 2003. Hope they take it all.

I was so stiff and sore this morning, that I was unsure if I could straighten out and walk. After meds and a hot shower, I felt well enough to go to Cardiac Rehab where I lowered my goals for the day. Everything worked out well, and we went to Home Depot, where we walked all around the warehouse, without incident. After a short drive home, we had lunch. I was alright until I needed a nap. I utilized my favorite recliner, dozed off, and stiffened up. Conclusion, my right leg doesn't like the elliptical, at any setting, and muscle groups ranging from the lower right calf to and including the hip are complaining.

The warm weather caused an early termite swarm. The creepazoids are under the concrete patio, where the family room meets the house. some worked their way into the basement at the divider wall between the train room and the pantry/work bench/furnace room.
I will call the exterminator tomorrow, they open at 0800.

Picked up a new grill grate for my Weber Kettle. Change that piece out each summer. Need to pick up some charcoal next trip to BJ's.

Saturday and Sunday will be home maintenance days, like replacing the drinking water filter for the kitchen sink. Maybe, I'll squeeze some modeling in. Temperatures the next couple days will be in the high 60s and low 70s, which will feel cold after two warm days. Wife has a rule, never turn on the A/C before June 15. Each year, she breaks her own rule in late May.

One of the chores is to store the unused snow thrower back to the shed in the back, and bring the push mower up front. I need to buy a tune-up kit for it and some fresh gas. Then I can cut the lawn early next week. Not looking forward to mowing, but after surveying how much my lawn deteriorated over the last three years of "Professional" lawn service, I'm better off re-seeding and doing it myself. Ya get what ya pay for.:mad::mad:

In the last two regular season games in the current season, Buffalo leads Columbus 5 - 2, with 2" left in the game. Colorado and Nashville are tied 3-3 at the end of the 2nd period. In MLB, O's 6 - 3 over CWS, top of the 9th. Mets and A's just starting in Oakland, 0-0 in the bottom 1st., and the Phils 8, Cin 3, Final.

RDCs at Broad St, Newark.jpg

CNJ RDCs depart Broad Street, Newark enroute to E'port to make connections. Pictured location is now part pf Prudential Center, (The Rock), home of the Jersey Devils and Seaton Hall University's basketball program,as well as other entertainment venues. Way back in the 1960s, Railroad Model Craftsman did a feature on this terminal, along with modeling suggestions. The front of the station, BTW, is a store front, that is reported to be still standing at 843 Broad Street, two propertys down from the Marriott Courtyard Hotel. I couldn't get a screen shot from Google Maps for some reason.

I know how you feel. I cut the cable and I have MLB.TV. I never get to see the Orioles; they are always blacked out to me. I can follow the live stats and listen to the radio. Not even opening day was telivised locally. Greed is hurting baseball and other sports.

What do you think of the pending sale of the Commanders for a little over $6 billion?

This just in:
Some chaps in N. England are hosting a WWII gaming tournament at their local club.

Some cheeky chap brought his force complete with the most heroic of all British commanders to lead his force.

I've got to get me one of those. With that fellow in the lead, my Brits will be unstoppable on the wargaming table.

Mr Blobby to the rescue.

Good Morning!

I've been looking through all my railroad photos, this fine morning. All the photographs were taken over the last 3 years, and they form a historical collection that I'm quite satisfied with.
I don't suppose recent photographs of the local CN railroad activities mean much to most people right now. In time, though, they might be something people want to look at.

Here's a couple of 2020 photographs of my hunting grounds, both taken in the same local CN yard, from either end. One looking east, and one looking west.

Actually, I feel blessed, living in a more remote small town, 2hrs away from the nearest city. I'm able to walk in areas generally unimpeded; that would be seriously frowned upon if it were a more urban centre. I only had a problem once, that turned out to be no problem. But then, I'm not a criminal whose painting pictures on railcars.

I'm off to Blue Ridge today, to pick up my son. Then I'll be working on the ol' renovation. Not sure if I'll be coming in much; might just put my back into the reno. Lots of time is wasted if one keeps his nose planted in a computer.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great day, and that all is well!

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 67°, with a cool front supposedly coming around noon. It will be clear and sunny and 76°, but overnight it may drop to the mid-40's tonight and tomorrow. NWS is still projecting rain on Tuesday.
Another beautiful day yesterday at 78°, I mowed a few leftover places and gathered more stray brush from around the trees along the road easement. Due to the wind, I up-righted lawn furniture a couple of times. Spent time hoeing the garden paths before I spread out the spoiled hay that will cushion the 2" x 8" boards that will be the actual walking surfaces.

Pictured above from R-L, a mixed row with Radish, Carrots and Lettuce (visible about halfway up), this is the row that the granddog mostly dug up. Then moving left is three rows of Onions mostly intact, then 12 Broccoli plants. Far end of the Broccoli row has Bell and Jalapeno Peppers. Then there is a designated pathway and two parallel rows of Tomatoes, another path and a third half row of Tomatoes. Then there is my "kneeling boards" used when I plant stuff to avoid compressing down the soil. Those will be removed soon and that row will have Green Beans, Blue Lake variety. Lastly, visible between the boards and white buckets is a half row of English Peas. The front part of this row has some already planted (and just emerged) Green Beans, Contender variety and both Yellow and Zucchini Squash.
I have about half of the first path covered and boards laid. I also got at least a half dozen t-posts driven into the ground for attaching the tomato cages to. I have some leftover space that I haven't decided what to do with yet. I have to be careful about over-planting, as care and preserving can be time consuming. It will most likely lie fallow until fall planting time.

We had the phone conference with the financial guy from Empower/Prudential yesterday. He's not an advisor, at least not to us since we don't pay for that service. He just tells us what we can and can't do with the retirement accounts; and how to navigate their system. He confirmed all that I thought that I knew about our impending RMD. He also confirmed that since we no longer have any earned income, I can no longer make IRA contributions to either Roth or Traditional accounts. :( So any withdrawals that I make either have to go into Treasuries (tax-free) or a brokerage account if I want to make any money. Or I could just spend it. Wife wants to give it to the kids! We don't agree. They don't need it; they didn't earn it; they can wait for the will!

Well, the Good Lord just doesn't want me working in the train shed much this year. As I was almost finishing up in the garden, we had unexpected guests show up. After a quick shower, at least I got to run trains for them.
Here's some layout pictures of the next series of structures to be removed for cleaning.

Louis - How's your friend Willy doing? Has his wife straightened up yet?

Today is the traditional tax day, delayed until Tuesday because of the weekend and some holiday in Washington DC. It's also Titanic Remembrance Day, marking that day in history.
Everybody have a great day and an awesome weekend.
