Good Morning All. Clear and 58°. Another beautiful day in store, but windy. High around 80° with southerly winds over 20 mph. Tomorrow they turn around from the north and tomorrow night's low will be in the low-40's. Highs still in the 70's.
Another mundane grocery trek yesterday, no noticeable change in costs. Overall it was lower but that was partially because I stocked up last week and didn't buy six bottles of wine this week. Gasoline however, jumped 20¢ to $3.59/gallon since we rolled through town on Tuesday. Lots of other business to take care of while we were out and I didn't return home until after 1:00.
After a nap, I mowed the most difficult part of the yard, the SW corner over the septic tank and lateral lines. The winter rye grows well in that area, no doubt because of the septic system. Today I will revisit the west part, aka the "back 40". It's generally not too difficult; it borders my hayfield but has a lot of trees as well as the drainage swale leading to the pond. It is a lush green area as well since it remained wet for longer after the rain two weeks ago.
Not too sure of what will happen today yet, other than a 10:15 conference call with the fellow at the brokerage place that I have several IRA's at. We'll review the procedure for distribution. I will also be reviewing the procedure for investing some of the Inherited IRA's that I got from my brother. I have left them in Money Market funds since acquiring them last June and now I want to put some of it to work. I know how to do it with my other IRA's with a different firm, but have not done it here. It's not bad right now as the MM funds are adding $19/day to my total, but I can do a lot better with ETF's and individual stocks.
Other than that, I need to add the 2" x 8" walking platforms to the garden, so I don't compact the soil when walking through the rows. I have a supply of spoiled hay and grass clippings to spread as mulch under the boards that will help conserve moisture later in the season.

I spent a little time out in the train shed yesterday. But first that last picture from yesterday morning's post with the old-fashioned Coke cooler in front of Uncle Tony's.

I had a tough time with the white paint, but from a distance, it looks OK.
I then added the LED inside the store.

While I was in that process, I had to open a new container of Gorilla Super Glue. I noted that the bottle seemed rather empty.

So I looked at the old and new bottle and discovered this.
IMG_3355.JPG

Old bottle on the right had 25% more (20g) than the new (15g). It also shows the fill line which I knew from the past was there. So I then looked at the Gorilla Super Glue Gel, which I had two unopened bottles of.

Yep! Same thing.

Mike (CGW) - Glad that your wife's recovery is proceeding so rapidly.
Swal - Good news on the tax refund. We have been filing electronically for 10ish years or so and mostly get the refund in 7-8 days. The record for us was 2018 when we got it in four days. Last year, it was several months late due to all of the new changes from Uncle Joe. It was followed about six weeks later with a check for the interest from being late.

Today is National Gardening Day, go plant some seeds.
Everybody have a great day.

Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin where we will hit 80f degrees + again today but then… 60’s and rain tomorrow dropping down to white stuff on Tuesday. I finally put a couple pieces of deck furniture out yesterday and the love seat on the front porch. Just not the room I had on the decks at the last house but it will do. Terry and I got just a bit over 6 miles walking yesterday in 2 separate episodes. Before lunch and after dinner. She borrowed the SIL’s Apple Watch to compare the features between that and her fit-bit. Today just my normal 2 mile walk after I’m done typing here. She is out riding this morning and on Friday usually rides with a group. With the nice weather that group will be much bigger today.

I have spent zero time at the weathering bench the last couple days. The 10 cars

I am working on are still in the same spot from Wednesday. Just not feeling it. I did decide to start over on the Quaking Aspen trees. I couldn’t keep the tree trunks with wire straight enough when adding the candle wax and the trunks of these trees are darn straight.

I am going to try some 14ga. wire I have to create the trunks and blend the 22ga wire branches that form the canopy. For a couple of the trees I am going to experiment making the bark with hot glue and another 2 with the candle wax. I have made hundreds of trees with the candle wax but while it is much quicker then the Woodland Scenics Latex rubber mould compound I used to use it is much more finicky. Terry thinks I should heat up the rubber mould compound and dip the trees like I do with the candle wax. The candle wax is not adhering very well to the wire armatures and is not closing up. Leaves a gap. Had this issue with the previous batch of trees last Summer but it’s been worst the past few weeks. The wire has been cleaned in a bath of Isopropyl Alcohol and the Aspen trees even got an additional bath of 401.I did use the blow torch on a couple of the trunks to see if I could re-melt the candle wax and close the gap. It wasn’t a real success.

The walk beckons, enjoy the day

Willie This is the 1st time I ever got it back this fast. Once back in the90's I did my mother tax and she owed $250.00. I sent them the check and they sent it back and said, she's gets $250.00. I told my mother don't cash the check they have something screwed up. About 3 months later we get a letter from the IRS saying my mother owed them $250.00. I go down to the IRS office in White Plains, NY and asked them what's going on here? Here's a check for $250.00. You somehow screwed this all up. Don't be writing us anymore letters.

Morning gang....almost noon here. I thought to drop in for a moment and scan through what I have been missing the last couple of days.

Yup ya'll been busy as usual.

I have been working and prepping my boat. The "Grizz" as my boat is affectionately called...it is almost ready to go for tomorrow's first voyage of the season. I am behind or rather late getting out as the weather was not cooperating until this week. I am in the office today but will be leaving @ 3 pm today as I came in at 5:30 am. Had to meet some state officials for business matters. I plan on a swapping out my starter battery on the boat as it is 8 years old. I picked up a new one yesterday for a replacement. My other 4 batteries are 2 and 3 years old so they are good to go and have been on a trickle charge all winter. So I will do the swap and an oil change when I get home along with some grease work on motor and trailer etc. I will be going out on Lake George tomorrow morning for a test run and a little fishing too.

Train front....I have started a few things with some help with my buddy Andy. We ran trains last weekend and did some programing as well as speed matching. May be in train room tonight after I finish working on boat. Some really cool exciting news for me on the train front is that I acquired a custom car that I have been looking for and hoping to find. Well the search is over after 4 plus years looking for it. I bought on evil bay a Rick Dakota Kempf of Dakota's Railroad & Circus Shop "The Greatest Trains in the World" custom passenger car. This car started out as a 85' ACF Baggage Car - UP Heritage Series Union Pacific UPP 5769 American Flag Scheme that was completely re-done all custom work with LED lighting and HO scale figure Marine Soldier, casket with flag draped over it, and other items. This was to copy the George W Bush funeral train. The car is also signed by Rick and dated and with car issue number etc. The work is incredible. I have 7 other cars Rick has done in the past but this one eluded me for some time but now I have it. I will post pictures on the RPO thread tonight. Some of you may know of Ricks work. I paid a little more than I wanted but it was a hard find and not massed produced obviously. I happen to have UP 4141 and the other locomotive UP 9096 that pulled the funeral train and all the other cars that went with it that day. The only cars I do not have yet that are made by a fellow by the name of Harry Marshal Haythorn, the generator/power car and the tail end observation car. I will be getting these when he is done. Not cheap but worth it for me.

So I will post better pictures later on the RPO thread.

I hope everyone is doing well has a good spring season. I see Willie has started his gardening and such. I will be planting soon as well. Not as much as Willie does but I do like my peppers!

I will catch ya'll later!

Afternoon All,

Since today was going to be slow MOH gave me the day off from the book fair but of course I had chores and another project from MOH. Tomorrow we have a skunk rescue. We pick the animal on the east coast, drive it to the west coast then back home in the center of the state so I won't be in tomorrow.

Willie- Nice detailing.

Louis- Interesting historical photo.

TomO- Looks like you have a bunch of projects to do.

James- Great looking car.

I hope everyone has a good night.
