$57.00 Yep, $57.00 is what the IRS will be sending me.
I get back $800.00. My wife always use to say half that's mine you know. I take taxes out of my RR retirement and Local 235 pensions. She chose not to take any taxes out of her pensions. I use to tell her before you get anything back you have to pay some taxes in but your right half is yours.
Now days I handle all the money so it's no longer an issue.

Curt not too long ago we would get up at 4am head upstate to Saratoga Springs play 18 holes of golf at The Spa then head to Saratoga Racetrack bet 9 horse races grab something to eat and then go to a rock concert at the Saratoga Springs Performing Arts Center. Now she has trouble walking to bathroom. Gehish how does this happen?

Our thoughts & prayers go out to you.

We are going through a similar thing with Dawn. Active doing this, doing that then getting an attack of Novichok Nerve Agent. She was in intensive care and hospital for for months. Told she would never walk again and sent home.

That was over six years ago. Taking each day as it comes she can now walk 18 steps (at best). The bad days (and there are many) are overshadowed by the good ones.

Just stay positive. You are not allowed a luxury of negative thought.

Jeff - In my case the inherited IRA was from my late brother who was only 59. This is the year following his passing in 2022, so I have to use the ten-year rule.
Tom O - At 71, I have a couple more years before I have to take an RMD from my traditional IRA. It's going to be quite a jolt to the income since I have been depositing in it since 1980. We cashed in my wife's traditional several years ago just to rid us of the bookkeeping as it was worth less than $3K. The three Roth's are earning tax-free and there is no RMD required, yet!
Swal - All of my working career, I tailored my witholding so I wouldn't have to pay or get a refund. No sense in letting the government use my money interest-free all year.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those who enjoy a good wheater whiskey.

Patio sitting season has commenced thanks to the 70° f weather this week.

Yes, that is a Wheater Whiskey (Larceny) in my glass

had dinner with Sis-in-law and her roomie tonight. SIL is having issues at work. She is an LPN in a Breast Cancer doc's office. She's one of three, and the nursing supervisor who oversees her office and several others is getting pushback from one of the other offices that has to cover. Supposedly "Rooming" a patient is what is at issue. The borrowed nurses grumped because the other LPNs in the office are not "rooming" the patients (calling them from the waiting area, taking vitals, and getting them ready to see the doc.)

Never mind in the in-house testing, the wound care (some of these patients have undergone recent surgeries), etc. the reg nurses are handling. Rooming a patient seems like the easy part compared to changing dressings on surgery sites, running the autoclave, handling phone calls from worried patients, etc.

Well, the grumpy nurse supervisor lit into them via email. And someone on the receiving end had enough of her BS. Fired off an emotional plea to the COO of the hospital system. So, Tues is lunch with the COO. Not what SIL wanted, but it is what it is, now.

I, of course, offered to write the nurse supervisor into the book I'm just beginning. She'll probably be victim #2, after making an arse of herself. Got most of it planned out. Just need to figure out why/how she's connected to the perp...

You know what we authors say: Make me mad, and I'll write you into my next novel... and kill you off....

Willie I didn't think about that at the time I was retiring. I had to go to the Railroad Retirement Center in New York City to start receiving my RR pension. They asked me do you want to take taxes out or not. Not knowing I said, take them out. I had to do same with my Local 235 pension. They asked me the same question. Do you want to take taxes out of your pension or not. Again, not knowing I agreed to have them taking out. I was present when they asked my wife the same question on her retirement, and she said no. Do not take any taxes out but every time we got a refund because I took taxes out she would tell me half's that's mine and I would say your right.

Good evening. 79°, clear and smoky, due to the forest fires to our Southwest. Temperature topped out at 84° this afternoon. Family went home today, then we went to my Cardiac Rehab. Two of my fellow patients had heart issues, which were handled promptly by the RNs and a PA from a Cardio practice located within the building. What makes the difference vs. other Physical therapy, is that we all wear heart monitors while exercising. One Nurse is always monitoring patients.

Speaking of income tax, we received our $1750.00 tax return, all but $60 of which was a refund of my estimated payments for 2022. The reason for the large amount was income we anticipated, that never materialized. This year, my first Q 1040-ES was only $56.00. I hate giving the government an interest free loan. We also deposited our State Anchor benefit payment today. That will go toward property taxes, which I anticipate, will go up about $400..00 for the 12months beginning August 1. I still have to file my 2022 State tax return, (no tax liability), and my tax freeze application.

Tomorrow, after a few errands, I hope to get rid of the bagged leaves, and maybe bag more. Friday, is rehab day.

Mets won today, O's are losing, Last night, the Devils broke franchise records for wins in a season, (51), and clinched home ice advantage for round one of the playoffs. They finish the regular season tomorrow, in DC.

When Comcast was my internet provider, they originally offered Norton's suite.

Later they told me it was no longer needed. I have been using only windows defender for about two years now, with no issues.

I'm no expert. I'm just sharing my experince.
I, like some of the others, have stated use Microsoft Defender only. I have since Windows 10, now using Windows 11. Never had an issue.
Thanks for your answers. Because I'm using the old Windows 8 I don't have Microsoft Defender. That's the reason why I need some serious stuff for my PC security.

Good morning, Everybody!

Tampa Bay won again. The Rays are now 12-0!
The Rays are now one win away from tying the MLB record for the best start to a season. The 1982 Atlanta Braves and 1987 Milwaukee Brewers share the record at 13-0. This 12th win in a row ties the Rays franchise record for a winning streak.

I'm pretty sure Windows 8.1 has Microsoft Defender included.
If you don't have Windows 8.1, it's a free upgrade, and you need to do that before doing anything else.
If you still don't have Defender after the upgrade, you can download Microsoft Security Essentials directly from Microsoft. It's the same thing as Defender, in a separate standalone program.

Thanks for your reply bnsf971. :D
Windows 8 is out of updates. Windows Defender is not included in Windows 8.  o_O
Again, update your computer to Windows 8.1. Since it’s now been many years since this occurred, you may need to go directly to Microsoft’s website and download it onto a flash drive and install it from there.
Do not remain on Windows 8, it was a horrible system that was replaced in record time.
The only system I can recall that was as badly written was Windows ME.

Good morning gang!

57° and sunny, heading for a high of 84°! Oh yeah baby, that's my kinda weather!

Coffee to start the day Flo, and maybe a cheese danish or two. Later today we'll switch to diet Dew and a BLT for lunch, or maybe a turkey club sammich. Maybe a few Twisted Teas after supper at the fire pit?

Taxes, another win/lose year. Get from the Fed, pay the State, it's a wash. Thankfully no municipal taxes, another advantage of livin in the sticks!

Troy, remind me not to tick you off, I don't want to be a book character that gets killed off. ;):D

I do need a name for the drummer in the band who gets strangled with a broken guitar string. Wanna volunteer your name?

Good Morning All. Slight haze and 55°, should reach 80° later today. Another beautiful day in store and an outstanding 10 day forecast coming up. They have removed the rain that was there in yesterday's forecast.
It is mowing season here on the SFW estate, I did almost two acres on both the east and north sides. I had to water the garden since it has been since April 2 since we had any rain. Other than the part that our granddog dug up, everything else is looking pretty good.
Today as usual is the weekly grocery trek, gasoline for the car, the Vitamin Shop, pharmacy, and Target for paper goods. Oh! And a run back to the doctor's office to drop off a days worth of wife's piss for analysis.

Later in the day yesterday, I visited the train shed for a while. I hit the small project list and decided to upgrade the store side of Uncle Tony's Wholesale Meat.

I had previously printed out some scenes and now was the time to add them.

Then I added an older Coke box out front. It is a white metal casting that I got somewhere.
Whoops! Only ten pictures allowed!
I am adding an LED to this structure as well.
To be continued.

Guy - That picture of the deer was most outstanding. Your best nature shot yet.
Curt - I know the feeling regarding the tree. I had to have the pros remove one 18 months ago that overhung both the house and the pool, and was too large for me to handle.
